I own both the Z Fold 3 and the OG Surface Duo. Each device has its unique use case. The Z Fold 3 is a media power house that offers split screen multitasking. The Duo is a multitasking beast perfect for mobile professionals that require a workflow that calls for constantly needing access to multiple applications. I constantly keep outlook running on my left screen for work related emails. And so everything else on the right screen. On the Z Fold 3 this is not easily accomplished or very satisfying. Once I click to open another app, it’s going to completely take over the entire screen and then I must split screen the new app with one running in the background. Then both apps running have a severe narrow aspect to them. On the duo I get both apps in full aspect ration.

I don't really get this kind of reviews. It s a dual screen setup, it may be nice if a particular app adapts to be expand acrross the screens but is not the main goal, if you are looking to use your apps like that it goes against the most useful feature for this device, which is be able to multitask, if you use one app open across both screen, just one app you'll be better suit with a big screen phone/tablet or whatever. But multitasking just like a dual setup at your office/home, like pluging a second monitor to your laptop is such a nice thing to have if you workflow needs that, but also I think is this sort of thing you didn't know how much you need it until you get used to.

Thinking about the manner in which people use dual monitors on their desktops, it appears the reviewer has completely missed this type of usage. LG tried the dual screen concept in a slightly different way by using a case with a second screen. All I see with the MS Surface Duo is a refined version of that concept without the ability to pop the phone out the case to have a single screen device. LG's poor marketing let it down and they have now left the mobile market. Reviews like this keep focusing on the fact that there are two separate screens that will never be as good as a single, large screen when trying to use an app across both screens. What they don't emphasise enough is the multi-tasking ability of the dual screen concept. The ability to have a KZbin video playing while scrolling webpages is the thing I am going miss the most when I one day replace my LG V60 with something newer. I will not replace the LG with a Surface Duo because it's literally twice the price of what the LG V60 cost when new. I also what something I can slip into my pocket when leaving home. Without the dual screen case that's accomplished with the LG V60 but not so easy when in the case. I just see the Surface Duo not appealing to many people which is a pity because multi-tasking with two screens is great.

I think this is sooo cool but I honestly don't know what I would do with 2 screens. I cant ever think of a time where I'm doing something on my phone and thought "oh this would be faster/easier if i had 2 screens" Again really cool phone but afraid its gonna be one of those things its really cool to see other people use but you don't really want.

It was very good device to advance microsoft in smartphones field but it's price was its biggest weakness

Am i the only person out there who understands that like 90% of current phones are just as large as the folded duo 2 form factor? Like seriously i know one person who has a small phone and he is thinking to upgrade to a larger one.

I would drop this thing 3 times a day carrying it around.

Annoying when reviewers span apps and complain about the hinge! It's not meant to be used that way...

This is a lot lighter than the Galaxy fold 3 disaster, the cameras are a lot better than the horrible z-fold 3 cameras, the battery life is a lot better than the Galaxy fold, I think this is a much better choice if you are after a to screen foldable phone 👍

Fold disaster are you really that daft . Have you any idea how many they have sold? You really have no clue what you're talking about.

Surface duo has two screens side by side. This is not a tablet with one screen. Once again. Surface duo has two screens. ;)

I don't get the hate. It's a great device, I'm waiting for a price drop and I'm getting it. 😉

Although you commented on how the device was no more than a niche device, i don't think dual screen phones are anything less. If you're surfing the web, or checking email, you could just buy another burner phone for less. I really want one when my lg v50 and v60 dual screens die, but i can't imagine more people needing the same productivity boost like me.

You won't know unless you try it... I bought the Duo 1 and once you get used to watching KZbin while doing ANYTHING its to go back.

Where is the Surface Pen experience? This review felt like a hands on, not a complete review of a product...

They are forced to review it, they hate Microsoft

MS did not send the pen to reviewers. Seems typical of MS, as if they are going through the motions and do not care if it flops again? None of the reviews so far are positive, though circumspect to avoid a dumpster analysis. After a year they still release a buggy device with almost ridiculous design flaws making this DOA. Of course, there will be the hardcore fans and those with deep pockets but for the vast majority this is again another disappointing effort from MS.

@@andyH_England I can't believe that there isn't a MS pen somewhere near them. But even if they don't have it on hand, why they are not mentioning it? Okay, I get it, it is interesting today, and tomorrow it will be forgotten. These reviewers just got one job, and they are always failing it imho.

Why is there no mention of windows office word excel and other Microsoft programs...games and pictures isn't my life for business!?
@eljon.cycling3 жыл бұрын
Another person that completely doesn't get two screens set up. I do not require apps designed for two screens at all. I use two separate screens for two separate apps. I have maps on one side and my cycling app on other, watch KZbin on left while chat on right, have my ebay on one and amazon on two and compare prices. That's power of it. If you want one, big screen, buy a tablet

So you have had the Duo for how long exactly? A day a week or hopefully over a month! Yeah more like a day...maybe two 🙄
