Anyone buying any new mobile device from Redmond *after* Kin, Windows Phone and Surface Duo must be a hardcore Microsoft fanboi who just enjoys being treated badly by Microsoft. Microsoft has proven three times already that they are completely incapable of supporting their hardware even when it's actually good, like some of the Lumias and the Duo 2 were. Hell, they even bungled the job with the Surface Go recently by releasing it only to "corporate customers".

I kid you not, I am watching this in tent mode, on my Duo 1, and still loving it even for all its flaws. Earlier, I held it in book form and had Discord open on the left. Got the notification for this video from your server and tapped it to open KZbin on the right screen. Now, I'm holding it like a tiny laptop and writing this very comment with Gboard on the bottom, while still watching the end of the video on the top. Truly, this thing is special and I am thankful you gave me the opportunity to see that.

@@simonw.2206 I wish I could still use my SD2 as a daily driver. The battery on mine just wouldn't allow me to. Even when it's not being used, the battery drain is very noticeable in a short amount of time. I have a Pixel Fold and it's a great phone, just not SD great, in terms of multi-tasking and work flow. It's a Hassel to splitscreen apps, when you've been exposed to a device where multitasking is inherent.

My dream was a Microsoft phone after my beloved Lumia 950 XL. I had the Surface Duo 1 from May 2022 to November 2023. I love this device, the look, the voice when you close the device, and how thin it is. Since November 2023, I have a Surface Duo 2 with Slim Pen 2 and a Pen Cover. This is a great combination with the Surface Pro 9. I will use it for as long as I can. It's a shame that Microsoft has abandoned the Duo brand. I thought there would be a Duo 3 with a foldable screen, but that probably won't happen. Another product cancelled sadly

Nice video. Duo was my introduction to yourself and to foldables devices (if you can call it a foldable). I hated it as a phone but it got me hooked on what foldable devices can do for productivity. After using it a while, I felt it had so much potential, I didn't hesitate to get the Surface Duo two at full price. I did kind of feel taken on that one when it came out. Not approved. In time, it got a little bit better, but it led me to moving on to my first foldable, which was a Samsung Z Fold 4. I still have my original Surface Duo and play with it from time to time. Thanks, Shane. It was largely your videos that got me to go find a used Duo (1) on eBay and give it a try. Yes, the quirkiness of it and occasional unexpected glitches were quite annoying, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't know how much I appreciated it, though, until I finally decided it was time to move up and got the Pixel 7. I got my Pix7 all updated and set to my liking and used it for... maybe 2 weeks. I turned it off, however, because I just couldn't do the same things with it as I could with the Duo! I moved my SIM back to the Duo and kept it as my everyday phone for another 5 or 6 months. Finally, the Duo's tendency to misinterpret my touches and swipes finally FORCED me to move the SIM back to the Pix7. The responsiveness is indeed much smoother, and I can finally go back to having an awesome camera, but I do still miss the unique functionality that the Duo gave me. I still use it as a WiFi device today for reading ebooks and such and am still amazed to how PERFECT it feels in my hand when I pick it up and hold it. Thank you for your good work, and may God bless you and your family.

I was an avid viewer of your Duo coverage from very early on (well before I actually bought one)...and I'm still rocking my Duo 2. I had the original Duo for about a year and a half. Duo 1's biggest weakness was its fragility. After several cracks to the outer cover, over Labor Day weekend in 2022 I knocked it off a shelf and busted the screen. I remember the timing because when I checked the MS Store online the next week for a Duo 2, they only had white 128K models in stock. I wanted black so I waited for them to "restock". Instead, the remaining 128K units sold out quickly and the restock never came (that was about the same time they cancelled the "budget" Duo design). After a month or so it became clear to everyone that Duo 2 was done, but I was able to find a white 256K model on Ebay. Despite its issues, I still prefer Duo's dual screens and I'm in no hurry to switch to a foldable because I don't want to give up 'tent mode'. Long live Surface Duo!! 😁

It's at end of life, sure, but I can still use my Surface Duo 1 phone after 3 and a half years, while people bragging about their Huawei Tri-Fold phone can't even use the device after a month. As I've said many times, it still sits on my desk at work and is still a "tablet / reader" for me...heck, a few months ago, I almost put my sim back into it...I just so love this phone and wish Microsoft would reconsider and make another one for the fans. But with the recent re-org in the Surface team and Microsoft offloading their keyboard/mice division to InCase (and we still don't have the InCase devices yet), I think Surface will just be the laptops and tablets. Which is sad to me, because I really liked their Headphones and "gauge looking" Earbuds. I will miss the Surface Duo. But I'm a forever subscriber.

Even with my right screen barely responsive (touch only) as of late... I still LOVE my Duo2 and boast of it's capabilities... As I watch this video floating on email on right and messaging on my left...!! 😭💯💪🏾

I’m still using my OG Duo 1. It’s still an eye catcher. It’s still a productive workhorse. If I can find an unlocked Duo 2 I will definitely buy it. I’m not a fan of the new foldable phone because of the single screen. The duo just had that certain feel and level of premium that I don’t get with any other foldable phone (my preference of course).

Was it significant enough for a student to go into debt for? Was it significant enough for a business tool?

I miss my Duo 1. I've used my Duo as my main phone until 2 months ago. I now changed to a Galaxy Fold 5 because I found it pretty cheap and I really like it. Especially the software is so much better than the Duo honestly but something about this phone just won't let me go. The way you can multitask is something I don't know we'll ever see again. Sure you can achieve something similar on a foldable but it's not the same. It's always more of an after thought than an actually design choice. And also just the looks of the Duo's is amazing. Extremely thin and futuristic looking. I'm now using it with Windows 11 ARM as my small notebook but I'll always miss it as my main phone to be honest.

When Surface Duo was a thing I still was too poor but I would definitely get a device like this nowadays. TBH I almost don't use the cover screen on me One Plus Open and I love the radius of the hinge on the Surface!
