I kid you not, I am watching this in tent mode, on my Duo 1, and still loving it even for all its flaws. Earlier, I held it in book form and had Discord open on the left. Got the notification for this video from your server and tapped it to open KZbin on the right screen. Now, I'm holding it like a tiny laptop and writing this very comment with Gboard on the bottom, while still watching the end of the video on the top. Truly, this thing is special and I am thankful you gave me the opportunity to see that.

Thanks, Shane! Surface Duo news coverage is what brought me to your channel. I still carry my Surface Duo2 as a backup phone when I travel. I recently had to use it again as my daily driver when my ZF6 was in for repairs, and it honestly was a little difficult to go back to the fold. This journey ends today, I decided to sold my Duo 2 that I had as my daily driver and just keep the OG Duo as a secondary device to have something to remember. Still using my Duo 1, and it still gets comments when I get it out in shops. "What phone is that?" "I've never seen one of those" etc. We need a Duo 3 now the world has excepted multi screen phones/devices.

My dream was a Microsoft phone after my beloved Lumia 950 XL. I had the Surface Duo 1 from May 2022 to November 2023. I love this device, the look, the voice when you close the device, and how thin it is. Since November 2023, I have a Surface Duo 2 with Slim Pen 2 and a Pen Cover. This is a great combination with the Surface Pro 9. I will use it for as long as I can. It's a shame that Microsoft has abandoned the Duo brand. I thought there would be a Duo 3 with a foldable screen, but that probably won't happen. Another product cancelled sadly

I was there with you when you started reporting on the original Duo. Bought mine 7 months after launch when the worse issues had been solved. Absolutely loved the device despite the remaining glitches. I still have it in my closet. Sometimes take it out just to hold it. There is something special about the fit and feel. Good times.

I was one of those who got the Surface Duo one when it really dropped in price. I picked up a new one for $450, I believe. After using it a while, I felt it had so much potential, I didn't hesitate to get the Surface Duo two at full price. I did kind of feel taken on that one when it came out. Not approved. In time, it got a little bit better, but it led me to moving on to my first foldable, which was a Samsung Z Fold 4. I still have my original Surface Duo and play with it from time to time. I still really like the two-screen aspect of the device. Great video Shane! 👍👍

A month in with the 1+Open with OPPO Pen... Man, I was soooo disappointed after my SD2 😢 Getting into the Open now, but there will always be something about the SD2 that will stick with me forever ❤ Keep up the excellent work Shane 👍

Nice video. Duo was my introduction to yourself and to foldables devices (if you can call it a foldable). I hated it as a phone but it got me hooked on what foldable devices can do for productivity. For all its flaws it's still the multitasking king for how it handles apps on its two displays and I wish someone would adopt their APIs because it truly is second to none.

Such a shame this form factor is not being taken up by others. I hate the lacklustre designs from Samsung and Google. The Surface Duo 3 had so much promise but Microsoft always abandon their best ideas...

Thanks for you channel and effort :)! I got a replacement duo2 4 days ago, still under enterprise warranty :). Long story short - it cannot be auto updated from android 11 till 12 in automatic mode anymore )). Third duo 2, two previous went dead sensors, starting from right screen ))).

I'm still keeping it in my nightstand. Still use it from time to time, even if I moved on to the 9 Pro Fold now. Nothing has ever flowed as well in multi-tasking as the Surface Duo 2.

I love my Surface Duo 2. It is the best device for note taking on the go, at events etc. I don't use mine as a phone infact, don't have a SIM in it. But man, I love this device, quirky but really useful. It still grates that Surface Neo never saw the light of day. Maybe it may, ahem, Surface one day with MS's Snapdragon exploits. But today, I tip my hat to those plucky hardware engineers, somewhere in sector 7G, in the bowels of the Redmond campus, who started with a blank piece of paper and came up with this. To those people, thank you. RIP Surface Duo. No flowers.

It's absolutely incredible that we are talking about end of life of devices that have been overly consistently reliable. It's at end of life, sure, but I can still use my Surface Duo 1 phone after 3 and a half years, while people bragging about their Huawei Tri-Fold phone can't even use the device after a month. Microsoft fell short of marketing on this one, but I think they truley had a winner here.

I miss my Duo 1. I've used my Duo as my main phone until 2 months ago. I now changed to a Galaxy Fold 5 because I found it pretty cheap and I really like it. Especially the software is so much better than the Duo honestly but something about this phone just won't let me go. The way you can multitask is something I don't know we'll ever see again. Sure you can achieve something similar on a foldable but it's not the same. It's always more of an after thought than an actually design choice. And also just the looks of the Duo's is amazing. Extremely thin and futuristic looking. I'm now using it with Windows 11 ARM as my small notebook but I'll always miss it as my main phone to be honest.

When Surface Duo was a thing I still was too poor but I would definitely get a device like this nowadays. TBH I almost don't use the cover screen on me One Plus Open and I love the radius of the hinge on the Surface!

I enjoyed my LG V60 ThinQ with dual-screen case around the same era as the Duo. I got it on sale for only $350 (unbeatable value), and it was a very feature-rich device, including being removable from its case for candy bar operation, hi-res sound & headphone jack, allowing you to turn off the secondary screen to save battery, and using Samsung's S Pen on either screen. It eventually developed a glitch in its fingerprint sensor, so I traded it in for something new. [sigh]

Absolutely loved my Duo. Wished I could get a Duo2, used Windows Phone up till 2017 and even then left kicking and screaming. Microsoft has a way of creating compelling devices and then just giving up on it. Duo deserved better.

Oh well. I'm still using a Surface Duo 2, as a travel media device. Also, web browsing etc. I absolutely love it. My main phone is a Pixel 9 Pro. I simply cannot do without the Duo 2. Come on Microsoft... Duo 3! Well, maybe it's time to sell. (Cries). P.s. I did own a Pixel fold, but simply did not trust the build quality. Duo 2, still going strong.

Still using my service duo,got a cracked screen but it's next to my bed I watch KZbin with it. The cracked screen caused me to buy my OnePlus open, now I'm just waiting for musk to get his Tulsa phone dual screen with satellite coverage and I'll be good😂😅😅😅

Your camera is good! But your screen capturing is always incredibly blurry. Any idea why that is? Also whenever you record your phone screen with a camera, it's very distorted due to a large sensor. I'd suggest zooming in with the lens from a further distance to reduce the amount of fringing since it can be quite distracting, instead of being close. Great vids tho! I've really been watching a lot of them recently! :)

It reminds me of the choice between have two monitors or an ultra wide monitor. Each is best for different use cases. I tried the Duo and just didn't like the software and how janky it was but was sad Microsoft didn't keep it going and improve it... It had potential.

I am still DD the Duo 2. I guess i have to find a new phone now, but i dont really want to. i wanted a pixel fold, but i dont like the new form factor. Not sure which direction i'll go. I always buy my phone through AT&T and the only foldable they have is now the samsung, which i wont buy (many bad experiences with samsung phones)
