Don't even think about it. Even if you buy this device, 95% of users will have a broken screen. Out of 5% of successful users, 95% of them will cut their wifi cable or Ntrig flexible cable. It's very easy in the video. But even if you apply heat to the screen, it is difficult to easily insert a plastic card and move it. The black glue doesn't let go that easily. And it is normal for the plastic card to get dirty due to the black adhesive attached to it. I bought a used Surface Pro 3 in 80-90 pieces on eBay. It was imported and sold. The 20-piece crack screen was replaced, but even the crack screen was difficult to remove because of the adhesive. I bought various tools to remove the screen, but to no avail. Only people who don't care if the screen is broken can open the screen. If the battery swelled and the screen opened naturally It is very easy to repair.

Did any of you replace the battery when you had the Surface Pro 3 no start issue? Mine just stopped working and will not start when using forced start, etc. If so, did replacing the battery solve the issue? Such a nice bit of kit, it would be a shame not to keep it working.
@WPXTacoMan477
@WPXTacoMan477 2 жыл бұрын
I mean, you should be able to power the surface with the charging kit at least, even if the battery can’t hold any charge.. haven’t had this issue yet at least, I’ve got a weak battery that dies with about 20 minutes of use from what says a full charge, but I can always run it with it plugged in.. if in your case you didn’t at least notice the battery life dying early on than I would suspect it’s not the battery causing a no power fault. Also I’m assuming depending on your charger quality weather or not it might not power due to dead battery, though my charger is a knock off with the connectors held together with hot glue to keep the exposed wires from breaking their solder connections within the connector, still works for me so I doubt that a cheap charger wouldn’t work but it’s at least a consideration

MY feedback: This video looks like many where troublesome screen has been removed before the video then it is easy peasy to remove it a second time with camera running. The fixer hardly used any force and at one time seemed to be pressing down to give impression force was needed to push plastic card up screen. To all interested, don't get too excited about going it alone after watching how "easy" this one seemed. I KNOW screen removal is a VERY difficult task made more difficult when a large screen with more flex can EASILY crack plus you can scratch or dent your Surface case if you do not use the exact tools seen here or get frustrated when it isn't coming off as easy as you imagined. Best to give yours to a professional and let them worry about it or are you going to buy all those picks, torq screwdriver set AND a $70 heating pad so you can break your Surface? Good luck.
@WPXTacoMan477
@WPXTacoMan477 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree, but at the same time, did you try this yourself? And if so, did you heat up the screen? and what method did you use if so. Ive done similar repairs on phones and lesser quality tablets and I used to use a hair blow dryer to try and heat it and had difficulty removing the screens but once I upgraded the heat source to using a heat gun from the hardware store that gets much hotter I’ve yet to come across any adhesives I couldn’t get hot enough to manage a safe screen removal.. not as easy as this video makes it appear to be, but less damaging at least.

Thanks for your valuable feedback. Somehow we have missed the reply. Sorry for that. First, we have shortened the video a little during the heating and removing process. Probably you can see that..Removing process all come to the heating and the person who performs. As you said, I can agree that It is not easy to repair a surface tablet. You need a lot of patience and proper tools. If a person is not comfortable it is always good to seek a professional technician.🙏

@@DIYGeardo as I was attempting to get my screen off, I had one corner up, where at least the adhesive bond had been separated.. but as I got to the other corner , working wit plastic cards, thin picks, and a thicker wedge/pick to hold up the other corner, it broke. Completely cracked across the screen and the second corner busted and a few small pieces came out. Lots of heat was used, heating pad to bring the entire screen upto temp, followed by focused heat localized to the current work area and immediate surrounding area. No excessive force was involved in any way shape or form. Was using a sharp edge of a very thin plastic card to go under and cut the adhesive, no prying involved, but it still broke. I like to think I’m a very capable technician with many many similar projects under my belt, but something about these surface pro 3 screens are just super sensitive and I didn’t even finish removing the screen. It was later evident that even slightly excessive heat was used to the point that the screen has a very slight discoloration when in use, so I don’t think it was a lack of heat.. I sum it up to manufacturers fault, as far as serviceability aspects are concerned. But who am I, a avionics technician for the navy, two aircraft maintenance associates degree holder who does similar stuff for a living and on the side for business and personal entertainment to make any such claims? 🤷‍♂️ haha not worth the cost of a new screen, and will be left alone to preserve functionality even if I have to deal with a bad battery..

Hello, how to remove bios password for surface pro 3 ?
@WPXTacoMan477
@WPXTacoMan477 2 жыл бұрын
First step; try not stealing someone’s shit. Second step: ask the original owner for bios password if purchased second hand.. Only reason I’d think you can’t get the bios password is if the person who sold it to you has reason to not share the password, such as a transaction dispute. I also don’t think anyone smart enough to get to the point of setting a bios password wouldn’t realize the severity of setting a bios password, let alone forget it.. it’s trash without the bios password

Getting the screen off undamaged is critical to this operation. Removing the screen on an MS Surface is difficult and would-be battery installers should really think twice before attempting this job. I'm against vloggers such as this one who remove the screen prior to videoing the process, then pretend to do it for real while the camera is rolling. This one is a prime example where the screen almost falls off. Warning to all - This is NOT THE CASE. This is the part where you wreck your Surface because the glue is so strong that you severely risk cracking the screen while attempting to remove it. Disregard this easy-peasy screen removal video. Once the screen is removed the rest falls into place but the first step is the hardest. BE WARNED!!!
@themurat267

This video is falsifying. I have exactly the same heating pad and surface pro 3. After heating it to 75 degrees Celsius for about six mins, the glue around the screen is still too hard to be cut through with a plastic card. Alcohol didn't work either. Microsoft put the strongest glue on it.

Normally the machine we are using, goes to about 100 degrees, Gradually. And it last for about 1-2 minutes. And if it still sticky, we are adding 1 more minute. Then it is good to go
@themurat267
@themurat267 3 жыл бұрын
@@DIYGeardo The video does not mention 100 degrees, the display in the video shows 75 constantly. I personally measured the temperature with a laser gun, even it was set to 75, it goes well above 75 before the thermostat turns off. Is that what you are talking about? Or you put manually to 100 degrees, for a bit yourself?
@DIYGeardo
@DIYGeardo 3 жыл бұрын
 @Murat Hamderi This machine gradually increases to 100, it is not like that, you turn on the machine, and it is at 100 degrees. It increases step by step. This machine is doing this automatically, and then it stops somewhere at 2-3 minutes. Most of the time it is enough, but in some cases, we are starting the machine again and applying one more minute. Well, we did not mention the degrees because the device is doing that automatically for us.
@DIYGeardo
@DIYGeardo 3 жыл бұрын
@@themurat267 At first, we are letting the machine to run the heating process. So gradually, it goes to 100 degrees. Suppose the device still has issues after the first attempt. In that case, we are rerunning the machine (most of the time automatically but in some cases manually (75 - 100c). It is quite strange that some devices need extra heating and some do not need. After the heating process, It would be best to create an opening and slowly cut the adhesive. That is the best way. And also, it is not safe to heat the machine for a longer time. It can damage the board or components. After the first attempt, apply the heating step by step. The video does not mention 100 degrees - We are trying to control the video duration, so it may get affected when editing.

@@DIYGeardo by the way I managed to remove the screen, by heating up to 75, while the tablet is on top. The plastic cards could not cut through, but the 1 mm thick steel Pryer could.
