This desktop set does not come with any software but if you go to the product page for the Wireless Keyboard 800 you can download the keyboard software and drivers (IntelliType 8.2) After I did that I got an on-screen notification each time I pressed the Caps Lock and Num Locks keys, showing whether it is on or off.

Good description of this Keyboard/Mouse/Receiver package. You were throwing the paper instructions - and did so (it appeared) for the USB receiver as well! Then you retrieved the 'Receiver' Since this is the only item I'm interested in, for I didn't know there is only ONE 'receiver' to connect BOTH keyboard AND mouse to the PC. Also I noted that as soon as batteries were installed in my keyboard the green indicator lamp came on - only to self-extinguish after a very short time - then the same thing happened with yours. So all is well. Now I can try my Keyboard 800 (using the 'receiver' from the Mouse) in my laptop.

YES! Thanks to your un-boxing video I was able to ascertain that I do have the complete set. - except for the paper-work which, like yours, has been thrown away - recycled most likely!

The battery indicator light only stays on for 4-5 seconds and goes off. For keyboard it comes on for 4-5 seconds everytime I switch it on, and for the keyboard it only comes on once cuz there's no way to switch it off.

Lol mine is very old... It works fine tho, but the mouse's indicator flashes red every few seconds, and the mouse ends up switched off. Do I replace the batteries or is it an issue?

So I'm actually using this keyboard now. One problem I have with it is the fact that I had a problem with the batteries not sitting properly in the compartment, and the keyboard would shutter on and off. I tapped the keyboard a couple times and it works now. Might return it if I have this problem in the future.

The transceiver needs to be connected to the primary USB devices, please make sure you haven't connected it to any other other ports like USB 3.0 etc. Usually the primary ones are the ones that are infront of the CPU.

Keyboard battery life on heavy usage was 6months and the mouse is still going. Not a bad set and cheap compared to many others. Only bad thing is the mouse which has no back and forward buttons.

Mine's a newer model and it doesn't appear to have the green light on the top of the mouse letting you know when the batteries need to be replaced. (That or it's just not lighting up?) It also only accepts 1 aa battery, but because the red light on it's bottom lights up it appears to be working? I'll find out when I go and plug in the USB-drive soon enough I guess? I'm hoping to use this because the touchpad on my Toshiba satellite is disabled/locked up and I haven't been able to enable/turn it back on even after watching several tutorials on the issue and so far the first five or six relatively easier options/solutions haven't worked and the only way I could use a mouse on it i9s with with a borrowed wireless mouse which works fine. Hoping to see if this inexpensive wireless system works too which should buy me some more time and more importantly patience in trying and fix the locked/disabled touchpad on my laptop. Of course it might also be handy for other circumstances such as watching movies by way of controlling the sound and other functions. Thanks for such a helpful review and setup instructions, as dumb as it may sound I wasn't even sure how to open the mouse up to insert the battery...I was concerned about breaking it. Doh....

Check to see if the keyboard green light lights up when you insert batteries into the keyboard. Change batteries if you need to. If it still doesn't work, change the USB port the transceiver is connected to. If it still doesn't work, return it and get a new one!

Tarun Jaiswal This keyboard does not work on Bluetooth, it works on the wireless connection it creates with the dongle which comes in the pack. It will work on the login screen as well as in the BIOS mode. Make sure you connect the dongle to one of the primary USB ports on the motherboard.

Not really, I've got decent duration of battery backup with the batteries always in the keyboard. Also, it'll be cumbersome to remove and insert batteries everytime you work on the keyboard.

I love this keyboard but my problem with it is that I do 3 days a week somewhere else so I put the keyboard in my car and if one or more keys are accidentally touching something else on the way home I have a flat battery by the time I get home. Removing and refitting the batteries 6 times each week seems like too much hassle. Easy to say "make sure the keys aren't touching anything" but my car is packed with other stuff each trip. Looking for solutions...

Aditya Chachad Thanks for commenting. There's no FN key on this keyboard. There are a few shortcut buttons though that work on their own without the need of an FN key. Why do you need it anyway?

Unfortunately the mouse wheel stop working correctly after only a few months of normal usage. Scrolling with the wheel gets annoying because the page flips up and down. I would rate this product 1 out of 5 stars

Will make a video the day the battery indicators turn red, please subscribe to be notified when I upload it. Transceiver is the third item that comes in the package along with keyboard and mouse. It looks like a dongle and sends/receives signals from keyboard/mouse and connects them to the PC.

There is no way to turn the keyboard off, except by removing the batteries. The batteries on the keyboard last longer than the mouse. So far, I've had to change the mouse batteries twice and the keyboard once in the past 1 year.

Its a simple plug and play USB keyboard/mouse. No drivers, no installation, nothing. You just need to make sure the USB port you connect it to is the primary USB port that is recognized by the PC even in DOS.

If you guys are having trouble with the keyboard and the mouse works fine, pay atention to your system, if you are using a 64bits system you'll need Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center for 64bits systems...

MetalX87 Either the batteries used are not up to the mark or the keyboard is faulty. The usual batteries I use lasts months on this keyboard. Try using a different brand of batteries and see if you notice any change!

The MICROSOFT Wireless Keyboard 800 has an ordernary 109 keys keyboard with a subtle keydown feedback. As already told in the video the keyboard lacks a Caps Lock Indicator LED, which is very irritating. Another drawback is the lack of a BREAK key. Esspecially when you are a programmer, this shortcoming is a nuisance. As i am a VBA Excel programmer (excel-leren.nl) I will no longer use this device. A pitty, because it looks nice.
