The MX 3S is the latest and greatest for productivity from logi, but it is too heavy for contemporary demands. I hope MX 4 will drop the weight. If you want ergonomics, the Razer DeathAdder v3 Pro is fine (no Bluetooth, though). The best all-in-one (productivity, gaming, ergonomics, RGB lighting, and Bluetooth) might be the Asus ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition mouse. Don't thank me ))

I have a Logitech G502 Lightspeed wireless (the original). I bought it in 2019 July and I used it for heavy gaming (on average 10-12 hours of use daily). It still retained its battery life, NO double clicking what so ever. Only thing that happened is the rubber coating on the thumb side degraded and peeled off (after 4 years). All my Logitech mice had double clicking issue after a few years but not this one. I will use this until it dies. Also the first time I see this but it is gradually and permanently getting slower. I needed to increase my DPI from 1700 to 2800 over the past half a year. But oh well, I can increase it up to 25600 so it has still has 1 or 2 years in it for sure if not more.
@AlphaMachina8 ай бұрын
I've used my G502 since 2016. All you have to do is take it apart and use a toothbrush with a little isopropyl alcohol on it to scrub the omron switches under the left and right mouse buttons. This will clean them out. Then blow the switches out, and give the alcohol some time to evaporate, and they'll continue working again for years. They just get gummed up after a few years of use. Literally any mouse will.
@kyrha7394 Жыл бұрын
Based on my experience, I use all the button on my G502 hero, mainly for media player, the original DPI selector, I use it for volume control, the side buttons for forward and backward, and the sniper button for Play/Pause. Use it pretty much all the time, all day everyday.

I really just want a variant of the mx master that's got some better gaming features; slightly lighter, better glide pads, the ability to charge via the wireless mousepad, yadayada. Simplest and fool-proof way to customize the Razer mice on MacOS is to do all the customization of it on a Windows machine and then store those profiles on the mouse itself. Except very few features that are clearly indicated with "Synapse Only", each configuration and setup will work on MacOS as well. Once you configure it to your liking on the Windows machine, store the profile on the mouse and then just connect it to your Mac and voila - everything works perfectly.

I recently bought the 502X and that's what comes to mind when I think "gaming" MX Master. You may also want to look into the Keychron M6, it's both *_almost_* half the price and half the weight of the MX Master. My dream mouse has a simple Superlight-ish-clone shape with Smartscroll. I used the previous (now discontinued) version of the M650L for years. I thought I'd love the 650L but never knew how much I'd hate a silent mouse. I just hate "clicking" with a mouse that *_doesn't click._* At this point it also feels silly buying an MX Anywhere when I already own both the 502X and 650L, so Imma just gonna buy a dang soldering iron instead and swap the switches out myself.

The Basilisk V3 (not the Pro version) is the real successor of the G502 (Proteus Core/Hero): optical switches, a far better mouse wheel, better side surfaces (the sides of the G502 regularly need to be cleaned) and no double click bug after using it for several months. The disadvantages compared to the G502 are the two missing buttons on the top left and the non-adjustable weight. The Basilisk V3 also feels a bit less valueable at the beginning until you get used to its material and lighter weight. The only thing I miss is one small button on the right side either to replace the aim button on the left (which is imho too far away for practial usage, anyhow) or generally for an additional function (like fastly switching to hypershift mode with your pinkie or ring finger which otherwise have nothing to do, at all).

Thank you so much for this video!! Funny cause I was in a dilemma over deciding on a higher end mouse a few days ago! This video basically solidifies one of two paths I may take. Before I had two cheap gaming mice, I do a mix of work on my machine: design, video editing/rendering, programming, and gaming so I like a powerful and versatile gaming mouse usually. I saw the awesome productivity MX Master 3S mouse at BestBuy and bit the bullet! I agree it is hands down a top knotch mouse for general office work and development. However, it lacks the style and flaire of a gaming mouse with no LEDs (fair because it's not a gaming mouse). Now I'm contempleting getting a second equivalent design and ergonomically comfortable gaming mouse to match it and not using my old cheap mice. I'll be building a highend desktop in some months and need some new gear to match the upgrade as well! I'm so happy you gave the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro your official thumbs up as the current ultimate productivity + gaming mouse. I can either return my MX Master 3S and get the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro or I can have both, either work for me. The MX Master 3S is so nice I have no problem keeping it for future use as I want to transition to mice with nice comfy thumb grips from now on, no issue with switching between them based on usage but it looks like the Razer Basilisk will do everything I want in a great all-in-one solution if I decide to go that route too. The MX Master 3S has some really nifty features you often don't find in gaming mice that truly benefit office work and multi-tasking like switching tabs on the fly too.
@correctthatfilthygrammar Жыл бұрын
I just got the MX Master 2S and it's amazing. I assume the 3S improves in almost every aspect, so I urge you to keep that one. However, I have used Razer's Basilisk V2 for the last couple of years and it's served me incredibly well. Its ergonomic shape lets my hand rest perfectly onto it. Since the design is near identical to that of the Basilisk V3 Pro, I really wouldn't return that either. Both are superb quality ergo mice and there's a reason why people hold both of them in such high regard.

Pretty sure it was the Logitech MX-3 Master I originally got when I got my M1 MacMini while it was super-newly released, in hopes that the thumb side-scroll wheel would work well. It was Bluetooth. How well did it work? It was the shittiest experience I’d ever had, with delays of several seconds between rolling it and getting a response. Was it perchance a problem with their drivers or the Bluetooth stack/HID stack in the version of the OS? Perhaps, but it wasn’t worth wasting time and effort on it once I saw it behaved poorly on my other Macs as well. So I returned it and found the Logitech G502 Hero SE or whatever the exact name, wired, as I was done dealing with Bluetooth. For a mouse, it works very well, and I especially love the free-wheeling center mouse wheel, and it’s a shame they went stupid on that, as that’s one of the nicest features of the mouse for me for productivity: the side buttons and enabling side-to-side motions, I’m just not coordinated enough to not mess that up in fine maneuvering scenarios, and that’s also a problem I found with the MX3 regardless of all else: if you push a button hard enough on the side to register it, likely you’ll move the rest of the mouse the wrong way, so that sucks if you’ve not got that finesse: I suspect that’s a large part of why it was made that heavy as well in comparison to everything else.

Just wrapping up my new Razer Basilisk V3 Pro as we speak. I've never had a jankier mouse. Not even macros work properly. Yet, the same macros work beautifully on my Logitech MX Master 3S. Tech Lead - I thought you would appreciate these jokes had been in the programmer world so long - Rick - California Differences between languages: Ada : You aim at your foot and pull the trigger, but the safety stops the gun from firing. The safety won’t budge until you tag your foot with a sign reading “”Bullet Hole in this foot””, and call the paramedics. You do so, then shoot yourself in the foot. C : The gun comes in 38 pieces, with a set of assembly instructions. After painstakingly assembling the pieces, you pull the trigger and the gun promptly backfires and blows your head off. Assembly : The same as C, except you have to hand-machine all the pieces as well. When you pull the trigger, your whole house explodes. Java: You break into someone else’s home and steal their water pistol. You then make a child gun that uses .38 rounds instead of water. When you pull the trigger on the child gun, nothing happens to you, but everyone who visits your house gets shot in the foot. Basic : You aim the gun at a straight horizontal and pull the trigger, which causes a stream of water to be squirted straight down onto your foot. Perl : You aim the gun at your foot and pull the trigger. There is no explosion, but gravity causes the bullet to slide out of the barrel and bounce off your foot. Lisp : You do a small part of the remaining work involved in shooting yourself in the foot. You then call yourself, and tell yourself to shoot yourself in the foot. Pascal : The same as Ada, except when you pull the trigger a little sign pops out reading “”BANG!””. C++ : The same as Java, except you try to build the parent water pistol using the gun tools from the C gun. When you pull the trigger on the child gun, the parent C gun explodes, spraying water everywhere, including the chamber of the child gun. This causes the child gun to backfire, blowing your head off. Visual C++ : The same as C++, except that the bullets, the gun parts, the tools you use to put it together, the hospital you get taken to afterwards, and the ambulance that takes you there are all owned by the same company. APL : Whenever you pull the trigger, no matter where you aim the gun, the bullet ricochets off of 13 objects and lodges in your foot. The gun has been examined by ballistics experts, mechanical engineers, and even the person who made it, and none of them can figure out how it works. FORTRAN : When you aim the gun at your foot and pull the trigger, a table indexing error causes the gun to shoot its firing pin into your foot instead of the bullet.

Rival 500 remains king for power users & players. It's my favorite mass produced mouse of the last 20 years. Amazing for all game types, excellent for productivity, and some truly useful OOAK features like the cool down alerts and customizable 3d print name plate. Crazy to think it only cost $80 new and now you can't find them anywhere and for no less than $200 (if you can find one. ) Glad I bought 3 of them. As for these "new" mice...It's a sad "me too market" void of innovation. I still see the mx500 influence in these designs...yes a mouse from 20+ years ago for god sake. I still face palm over the pointless free scroll and now all the stupid gamer marketing terms for the scroll "feature" which has ZERO purpose on a game mouse. Oh cool, I can scroll through my weapons really fast for 2 minutes without touching the wheel again......Video editing is the only context where free scroll was truly useful for me, in which case a Logitech Triathlon / marathon mice will fit the bill. The only thing innovative I've seen from logitech in the past 20 years has been the "Logitech Options" app with gesture support...and funny enough I don't think it's event supported on their gaming mice. Demanding more out of your mouse means you're demanding more out of yourself... so until gamers actually start questioning things and challenging themselves this generic crap will continue to reign supreme.

My g602, best ever, is starting to drop chess pieces while dragging. I might give the basilisk v3 pro a shot, but the mx master looks comfy.

I don't think you're right for bashing some of these devices about bluetooth support - I'm using G604 and I've never used the bluetooth feature - I just plug in the receiver to my work computer, my laptop and a pc at home. I just don't have the nerves to deal with bluetooth pairing and all of its quirks... not to mention that everything bluetooth uses all possible permutations of key presses to enter pairing mode. When I plug in the dongle I know that the OS will pick it up like any other mouse, no weird software, no bluetooth pairing nonsense - it just works.

I use the Aerox 5 on Mac, it has bluetooth and rgb. Feels and looks good, just not a fan of the klick sound.

Best mouse review video on the net right now

great video, but I am seriously invested in the longevity of a mouse...mostly for DCC apps like blender, but I do game dev, so coding, creativity and gaming....multi button is a + but also weight and, most of all, longevity..I don't like to buy a mouse more than every 2-4 years...I would love them to last longer but as long as they have min 5 buttons and last long...I'm satisfied..willing to spend more the longer they last.

How the hell these are still a thing in KZbin? I think Facebook and KZbin and instagram and all those lame social medias, they choose not to ban bots, because they sell their clicks to clueless companies.

Deathadder V3 is my favourite by far. I'm not that fond of my MX Master. The weight is stupid for any serious mouse-work. For programming, it's probably ok, but for CAD work it's un-ergonomical because of the weight, and the shape is less ergonomic than the classic EC2-like shape of the DAv3. However, I'm using a Steelseries Prime Wireless now, which has an even slightly better shape than the DAv3, and fantastic mouse-buttons. However, it has a horrible scroll wheel (QC issues on several units I've owned).

I have the basilisk and the scroll wheel has a lot of errors where it scrolls the wrong direction. This appears to be a common problem even straight out of the box.

I’ve been considering replacing my wired V2 Basilisk with a new V3. Is this still a problem?
