I’ve done this “anti-spring-ting” on a few on my Microtechs myself. If I could give some un-solicited advise, I’d say you don’t need to use as much white grease. A 1/4” long dob of it in the middle of the spring will do the job nicely. If any portion of the grease is touching the spring, it dampens all of the spring resonance. Also, I was a little scared for you on the disassembly. When the blade is either locked open or closed, there is a small amount of tension on the main spring. With the top cover off the knife, it doesn’t take much for the track to go flying out of the main body and either damage the track hitting a hard floor or losing one of the two launch springs. Always best to disassemble any OTF with the knife in the “off track” middle position so nothing is under load when the knife is opened up. Very nice Bugout btw. 👍

Really like the video! I was happy to see a relatively new vid on a disassembly. If you look at a newly manufactured Microtech knife and one made about 2-3 years ago you'd notice a big difference in the leg mounts and X button. Which is the reason why I wanted to see a new one. I work for a company that manufactures them with a newer process of Metal Injection Molding. Anyways, thank you again! Just happy to see our parts in the final assembly.

I took a needle and thread 🪡 and lube the thicker gage string down the spring and it works to permanently stop spring sing . I actually used a rc car pull start from my HPi savage . It fits right down and I clip it enough to just stay in place and don’t affect the spring at all it’s actually quieter than my other microtechs knifes .

i got the bit to take out my screws on amazon and got it next day. i want to get some proper oil and grease for my ut but all i had was gun oil. it worked but is a bit slow on the opening until it gets lubed everywhere internally it can and wipe off excess i see on the blade. thanks for the video and God bless you
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL Жыл бұрын
Hey brother, I’ve personally tried just about ever type of lubricant and honestly wd-40 or rem oil seem to be the best way. Just spray it down into it and keep firing it and fling out the excess. Gunny Magic also does well and normally Id say Gunny products are superior but tbh I didn’t see any real benefits over wd40 (with this specific one).

When it comes to microtechs, some of them just never really achieve a good action. Sometimes they are just pretty stiff no matter what you do.

I wonder if the grease on the spring will attract dirt and lint to it and gum up the actions.
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
So far so good, no problems yet! It probably depends on the environment you use it in though. If I was in a dessert I’d probably avoid it but for me it works great!

What are those screws called?
@greyman13632 жыл бұрын
I don’t trust the titanium screws. They look good , but I fear they break . Do they lay the same way as the original screws ? It’s prosthetic camera glair on the blue screws but they look to not go as deep and lay flat on the top chassis scale . They do sell the blue glass breaker to complete your build

I'm wondering the same been looking for real blued titanium glass breaker and the clip and screws but I can only find the blue titanium screws ...

Hi if I have a Exocet and mini troodon what bit would I use?
@ckdunahee44782 жыл бұрын
Great video, just a thought, maybe it would keep the other parts cleaner if you took the spring off then greased it😀
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you’re right but it all spreads around anyway the more you cycle it so it seemed like a pointless extra step to me. Its still going strong though! Haven’t disassembled it or cleaned it since and it’s still cycling beautifully! This Protek white grease is designed to have good adhesion to the surface you put it on and minimum drag and it seems to do both of those things extremely well. I use it on the gears of the rc cars I race competitively and it really doesn’t gum anything up. Definitely not your average white grease!

I don’t think theres any states that online knife dealers don’t ship to. You won’t find them on ebay or amazon and it might not be legal to carry in your state but I guarantee you can purchase one and order it straight to your house!

Does opening a Microtech void the warranty? "We understand that some customers may prefer to maintain their own knives. Sharpening your knife does not automatically void the warranty. The warranty will remain in effect so long as the blade is not improperly sharpened and the handle is not damaged or stripped due to disassembly, determined at our discretion. Sep 7, 2020" MICROTECH So yes you can take it apart as long as you're not an idiot!
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
Nice to see that they updated it but yeah I agree! If you know what your doing there’s no reason for them to even know you ever disassembled it in the first place. However Id still do whatever I want to do with my knives regardless. I’m not the kind of person that sends things back when theres a issue. Ive always fixed things myself, if I can’t figure it out then ill do some research or keep trying till I figure it out. I’ve never sent anything in for warranty knives or otherwise so I could care less personally. I do think its a good thing for companies to stand behind their products though and reasonably honor claims for the people who aren’t as much of a do it yourself’er or mechanically inclined!
