Hi! Nice bass. Just one point I'd like to make is that when you have a zero fret, the nut material has zero effect on open string sound or sustain. The zero fret already takes over the job. I mean, this bass obviously has no small cost saving concerns about it and probably it's a lot easier to just put the more expensive nut on there than explaining this to the customer. So there's that. :)

Thanks for watching. Yep, that’s true, a zero fret can give a more consistent open sound, the nut just holds the strings in place really. A zero fret was requested for this build, normally I use a standard nut.

hello, beautiful look, I am in France and I plan to make one soon with oak and pieces of mahogany, your guitar shape is magnificent it gives me lots of ideas, on the other hand I am left-handed so I reverse everything and it will be my first guitar and after I will learn to play ... lol is it a plan of your realization or is the drawing available? thank you

Thank you! Glad you like it. The design is my own shape which I drew up originally around 7 years ago. Good luck with your oak build!

I have no idea how you mean 0.7 of a fret? Equal temperaments (EDO, TET) must be in whole integers, no?

It means there is no octave fret on the same string. So fret 18 is as close as you get which will be sharp compared to the octave.

This is not nech-throu build (5:48) So many frets and the tuning problem is not solved - zero frets is the better version. So you have the same problem between harmonic thirds and tempered thirds.

Yes, it’s a set neck. It was not designed/intended to solve any of the problems standard 12 octave fretting has.
