SixFoot Ben Thanks for clearing that up, I was wondering how the world he's doing that, but looks like it was working. Thanks again for the input. One question if you know the answer to, will using liquid culture really work if I just use a spore syringe instead of mycelium syringe? It would save a ton of time, threat of contamination.....if spores will get going in liquid culture. Thanks again, hope that all you do turns out the way you wanted it to.

if you dont want to put you jar lid in the micro wave id recommend using wax paper and a hair elastic....then sterilize your lid and pop it on the jar fresh out of the microwave.
@againstthemodernworld32535 жыл бұрын
I'll vouch for the young padawan. You absolutely CAN microwave the canning jar lids. I did it myself just now to check. In sciencey terms- the rounds lids don't have any sharp "jumping off points" for the electricity to use to arc (AKA flash) or jump. Like other posters here mentioned- spoons usually can go through the microwave-because of their rounded shape- but forks with sharp points can't. With a round shape, the electrical charge stays more evenly distributed around the object, but on an object with sharp points, the charge builds up until it breaks loose and arcs or flashes.
@anthony77882 жыл бұрын
What happens is electricity builds up with no where to go on the tips of the forks so they discharge against each other. Spoons don't have anywhere for electricity to build and jump. Did you know if you get an edge of a piece of glass red hot and put it into the mic. The red hot area will grow until it consumes the entire piece of glass. You can make a pool of molten glass. Microwaves are no joke.

I kept wondering when the metal would arc, lol!! Also a HUGE warning. When water is heated in a microwave for too long without the surface tension being broke (example stirring) is can explode in your hand when you take it out because the movement will break that surface tension. I taught both my boys this and no kidding, just last week my 14yo was cooking grits and when he picked up the bowl it exploded. He is now suffering from 2nd deg. burns on his eye lids as well as nose. PLEASE use caution people. What he shows here is just too risky!

Idk. Look it up. There’s a new company that sells like cooking pots for the microwave. It’s designed for the microwave. If you engineer it right I guess it’s fine to use metal in the microwave. That being said ya generally it’s dumb to put metal in the microwave. Once at school I was cooking steak and another kid was supposed to cook rice. He put rice in a metal pot to cook it. But we went to check on him and he put it in the mic and like the top of the pot was deformed. Maybe it was a plastic lid I can’t remember but he ruined it haha we laughed so hard.

I did this yesterday with about 10 glass bottles ranging from 250ml up to 500ml. What I noticed is to better have 3-4 jars/bottles inside especially if they are on smaller side to not to have violent cooking/shooting cap in the middle of the process. More jars/liquid nicely balances or distributes microwave's power, much less liquid is lost. 1 500ml or bigger could work but smaller cannot be microwaved easily even with power set at low, also time can be increased to 15m or more

Can you explain your polyfil in the syringe acting as the filter a bit more please? Am I meant to leave the syringe hanging out of the rtf sealant hole?
@Steven-gv1ke11 ай бұрын
To equalize the pressure you will be pulling out of the other injection port, you will need to be able to push air into the container. You just sterilized the inside, so you don't want potentially contaminated air going inside the container. By using the syringe with polyfil, you are basically making a "air filter" to catch any contaminants as you pull outside air into the container so you can draw the liquid from the container with a different syringe. This keeps the pressure even and prevents fighting vacuum.

Spores contain ALL of the mushrooms genetics. There is no guarantee what will dominate. Spore cultures have isolated the desirable characteristics and consist of mycelium.

@nigtturner4 жыл бұрын
B Smith I believe liquid culture is the mycelium, so it has already turned from spore to a growing culture, this makes it faster to grow your mushrooms from, it also gives you the opportunity to turn a syringe into a life time supply, I believe it is better to grow your liquid culture from an agar culture as spores don’t like to culture in a liquid.
