In Northern California, during the time that the Fly-Agaric mushroom fruits, squirrels tend to get run over because they seem to go crazy when crossing the road and dart back and forth in front of your car. The back and forth behavior seems to be an evasive technique for hawk attack. The technique gets them killed where tires are concerned. It is very common to see that red mushrooms we are discussing munched by squirrels. I think that their little brains get influenced by the mushroom and they end up squished...it happens every year.

As always, a fascinating video Adam! How you remember all of that information, especially genus & species names, is totally beyond me. I can't even remember common names except for Oyster mushroom, that one is pretty easy.

Really enjoying your videos. They are well done. It is obvious to me you are either a thoroughly self-taught person with an intense passion for this subject matter or you are a trained botanist and mycologist /or both! Either way very good videos!

Adam, I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m originally from western Pennsylvania too. I live in Ohio now about 70 miles from where I grew up so I should be able to find the same mushrooms you’re talking about.

Imleria badia is very common in germany where i live, which is awesome because imo it is on the same level as boletus edulis as far as taste goes. Unfortunately much smaller (the bigger ones often are already infested with maggots)
