We bought the 2017 model of this mid bunk unit last April and love it. Already put 10k miles on it with a coast to coast trip last fall and felt like we took home along with us. The mid bunk and loft is great when kids/grandkids visit, or use for storage, office, or a space to let the dogs eat out of the way. We also throw coats, shoes, etc. in the space when its just us coming and going. We put the LP generator in up front, but have not really used much as we usually stop at RV parks with full hookups. But a nice backup plan when Walmart parking, etc. My only recommendation is to replace the Chinese made tires it comes with (as most trailers do) with a set of Goodyear G614 G rated tires, which are the best on the market in my opinion for this size trailer. I'm an old Air Force guy also, so gotta give kudos to the "Air Force Guy" for a good video tour. Off we go, into the wild blue yonder...

Showerhead: buy a pack of zipcords. Zipcord/Zipties the showerhead to the cradle. Simply laying it on the shower floor doesn't prevent it from flying around. It'll still smacks against the the shower glass. I've had a few plastic ones break apart before I decided to spend a couple bucks on a pack of zipties. This also prevents marking tye gelcoat up too.

I love this bunk house layout my only beef and I would have to change it out would be the vessel bowl sink in the bathroom. (Personal preference) for an under mount porcelain style; my hubby is legally blind and that sink wouldn't last five minutes before something got dropped on it and broke! LOL

Understand. Could have maybe had them added to this model after the fact {not at factory}, however now they have a bunk above the sofa so really no way of doing so while keep the bunk bed. Now, if you wanted to remove the bunk, then a window maybe able to be added. Hope this helps!

What are the dimensions of the mid room.? Could you put a twin bed in it or twin sized bunk? Is it whisper quiet AC? Can you have a normal bathroom sink?

They now have a twin bunk over sofa The A/C are Coleman Mach and as quiet as the whisper quiet and produce more air flow to the camper, almost double. Meaning it will cool much better.

RV Extraordinaire awesome! I couldn't watch the whole video cause I felt like a kid staring at the tv while sitting way too close. I have seen this RV in person and it is pretty cool for a family with kids, but the loft area is pretty much useless for anybody else.

the fridge is sub standard. can you get a residential fridge with an icemaker like Open Range?? I guess GD isn't the best full time rv...

The Residential refer is available. As far as Full-Time, Grand Design is one of the very few that does not make exclusions to their warranties if you do. As well the insulation is one of the best in the industry. They had the Solitude tested at an independent lab and the results are better than many others on the market.

Jon, Not sure what 5th wheels out there at half the cost have soft close drawers. It is all about cost. If these were added to a well built RV that is already twice the cost, it would be even more money. Now, with that said, if that is what someone wanted, it can be done. @@TheAirForceGuy A Jayco Eagle 336 has soft close drawers and cabinets, better slide system, accessory receiver hitch and whisper quiet AC. A Sierra or Sandpiper has soft close drawers as well. These units are WAY below the cost of a Solitude. I believe this Solitude is more spacious and very well thought out. I like it the best out of anything I have seen. I just think for the money they are asking it should be there.

Jon, As I mentioned earlier. If these were added to the Solitude, it would be even more expensive. There are major other differences between the Jayco & Forest River products. I am sure that as time goes on, there will be as always things added and changed. Take a look at all of the new things on them today vs a few years ago. Give it time!

Only down hill and only if you do not need to stop! This one needs a Real Truck, a 1-ton Dually

No. I think your half ton limit is around 10k lbs. It weighs 14k lbs dry, and loaded should be 16k, although I think ours is closer to 17k when we load up. I bought a Ford F350 dually diesel to pull it and wouldn't recommend anything less.

Carl, like all RV's this one will not be liked by everyone. For people who want an extra room for an office or additional sleeping it is perfect. What most people love about this floor plan is the openness of the kitchen area, since the bunk/office is in the middle of the camper. What floor plan works best for you?
