I purchased this 360 mirror back in May due to lockdown and it has been so helpful; I have improved doing my own hair immeasurably. Not quite Andrew Cuts-standard, but I’m getting really good! Thoroughly recommend investing in one of these for anyone reading this.

I started cutting my own hair in January after my barber increased the price for fades. I started with a 25 dollar Wahl clipper from amazon. The clipper doesn’t even have a lever. Anyway, the videos that provided the most guidance to me were Andrew’s. I think he was also one of the few barbers with videos of self cutting before the pandemic. At 8:19 he says it isn’t easy and and takes time and practice to learn and that couldn’t be anymore true. It’ll definitely help to retouch your hair every 4 to 6 days to practice and get the fade motion down. Andrew definitely does the best self fades on KZbin. When I was watching his videos I was also paying close attention to his hand motions and it definitely helps. Fast forward six months, I upgraded to the Wahl magic clip. While it’s definitely a much better clipper, it won’t help much unless you have previous practice. I’d say it’s best to start out with a basic clipper and then move up to a better one once you know you’ll be cutting your own hair for sure.

Wow thank you for the kind words bro. It’s awesome to hear that you’re making progress and that my videos played a small part in your progress. Couldn’t agree more about the importance of patience and practice. When I was starting out I would cut my hair every 3-4 days just to work on my coordination. I also agree that it’s better to start with a cheaper clipper and then upgrade the better you get. Thanks for the comment brother and keep up the good work!

I have watched everybody’s videos on KZbin trying to learn how to give myself a bald fade, and your tutorial is by far the best in detail how to do it! I watch your videos as I’m cutting my hair! Eventually I’ll memorize every step, and cut it quicker! Thanks bro!!!!

for you noobs out there, try using 1 guard closed about an inch up from your initial guideline. this is a lot easier to fade out. the no guard open is obviously a cleaner cut but it is also much harder to blend. even the professional in the video struggled a little to get the line out. just my 2 pence

I do the exact same however cos I’m right handed its more difficult using the clipper left handed to do the other side. Not been to barber in 18months and I keep my fades clean and sweet every 7-10 days. Once you crack this, it’s a lifetime talent that will save you thousands

Awesome video, my self haircuts are getting better and better. You make the best tutorials I've seen and easiest to follow in my opinion. Also, you don't need to buy those 360 mirrors for $90-$100, I use 3 door mirrors that I got from target for $7 each. Practice makes perfect and I recommend using a headband or something to help start the first guideline if you don't have anyone to help you. Don't expect it to come out perfect if its your first time, you might be wearing a hat outside for the next 2 weeks like I did when I first started lmao. Hope a video on cutting the top is coming soon as well, kinda hard to cut by yourself with scissors. Keep up the great videos man!

Well done!! I’m female but recently got all my hair cut off for first time in 36 years. Got it got into fade 3 x so far by great barbers. Decided that I want to learn how to do it myself. I’ve got my clippers and trimmers but do not have a foil shaver. Is there a way to get similar look with the trimmer and or clippers on the no hair part below the fade ??? Or should I just get a foil shaver.

Yo Andrew in your opinion: Oster Fast Feed or Wahl Magic Clips?
@AndrewCuts
@AndrewCuts 4 жыл бұрын
I prefer the magic clips. They’re more powerful and easier to maneuver (the cordless version that is). Fast feeds are solid too, especially if you’re looking to spend a little less. Big downside with the fast feeds is you’ll have to get the andis magnetic guards as the Oster guards are junk. Overall magic clips all day in my opinion but both are solid
