Consistency & embracing my hair w out a the use of wigs, weaves, braids is Def key to healthy hair growth for sure! I'm out of two stage and my hair is thriving like I've never seen b4! I'm blown away w my results! My hair has become more manageable than ever! I brush my hair like 3 times a day(cuz it feels that good) and my hair feels like I have a relaxer and I don't! I'm in love w my hair these days and not bcuz it's longer but bcuz it's so easy to deal with! I am never going back to any chemicals again, thank u Yeshuah the Christ!

@@LunaLaLove33 honestly, I don't even buy anything special or name brand! I wash and condition w V05 and seal my moisture w a diy hairfood oil. I've incorporated brushing my hair/scalp since it was very short. I keep my ends trim, moisturize and very happy. That's why my hair glides the brush down the hair shaft! My edges r back w vengeance! Which is another reason I left them braids alone for real. U just have to stay on top of moisture & protein & trim when needed. This will make ur life easier w no fairy knots. I also love washing my scalp daily or every 3 days to every week. Enjoy ur hair journey, get to know ur hair. I'm telling u, u will be absolutely amazed!🥰

"If you want your hair to thrive, you have to embrace it".... and honestly this is the part that checked me. My hair grows beautifully but I always get tripped up by trying to hide the not-so-cute (imo- for me) part of the process. I revert to old habits by craving slick backs, laid edges and always end up w/heat damage. Not any more! I'm embracing my process so I can enjoy the fruit of my labor later. Thank u for this... another golden video "as always" 🤍

My hair is just stagnant and low porosity. My sebum production is at three weeks and I don't even know my curl pattern, maybe 4a with Z pattern. I don't know if I should use the L. O. method or L. C. or L. C. O./L . O. C. on the same day or during the week. That's my frustrations and how often to really wash especially if it's oiled. I feel like I'm throwing away my expensive oil and that my hair isn't getting the full benefits of it by washing it weekly. Everyone in my area pride themselves on tightly braiding one's hair. You can hardly get a loose style that's just for stretching the hair. I guess I have to reiterate that to each of them every time and give them the styles as opposed to letting them choose. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Thank you for being transparent. I can definitely relate to the part about going back to old habits. I gave birth to my fourth son in February. My schedule was very busy and I didn't know what I would do with my hair. Crochet styles where normally a go to. Since my hair is around bra strap to mid back the thought of briading turned me off. So decided to do some twist and im in love. Embracing my hair was a bug lesson over the summer bc I was determined to not wear wigs to cover up my hair. I hope more queens start to love their hair. Don't try to conform to the European standards of beauty. Black beauty can't be contained and it comes in so many varieties

This info is helpful but I wish I could find someone with fine hair strands who achieved these goals who is not multi-ethnic. Protective styles without weave are nice when you have thick hair strands but fine hair it always looks sparse with flat twists etc and when you’re multi-ethnic their hair grows different and requires a different regimen and it’s so tough getting past bra length with thin hair that breaks for anything
@alamatablessing8651

My strands are fine and yes it can look sparse in twists. What I've done is embrace herbs in almost every step of my routine. I do hair masks on every washday. I use herbal rinse and I also consume herbs like moringa. These has helped my hair. When it comes to styling, try not to make it tiny. Keep it as big as possible, I'm talking 5 - 8 chunky twists and it won't look sparse at all. You can also do African threading.

Hi. My hair is thin and very fragile as well. The struggle is real,I know. But here is what has helped my hair increase density & become stronger: onion juice, hot oil treatments & deep conditioners. Shea moisture deep conditioner Manuka & honey is the truth! Onion juice fills in those blank spots in the hair. Less manipulation is key too! I do my hair as less as possible, but baby my ends a lot with light oil. Now this last one is a no no in the natural hair community, but changed the game for me: use grease . Not a lot but some to seal in your moisture for a longer period of time. Think of it as a barrier to hold everything in. This has really helped my hair retain moisture which is retaining my length! My hair journey is giving me life right now since I’ve added grease as my last step to seal. Thank me later.😃❤

I love being natural….however I switched to straight natural (no relaxer of course!) after 10 years…because these hairstyles don’t really allow the enjoyment of the lengths being achieved…. because it’s always tucked away in a twist or braids or protective styles. I felt like, for me, always wearing it in braids or twist to retain length didn’t make me that happy. I really enjoy wearing it out and stretched. Weather a blown out twist out or straightening it. Now, While being a responsible and careful straight natural. It allows more room to enjoy length and styles. I learned stretch styles, like you’ve mentioned. As well as consistent moisture regimens allow hair to really thrive…even to waist length and beyond. I’m not sure if this will resonate with you but hopefully more natural pages explore the concept of stretch styles that we can wear out and healthy ways to maintain it so people can be less apt to getting perms, as we’ve recently seen.

Do you use heat a lot or do you stretch your hair with rubber bands and stuff?
@Gigimarie365
@Gigimarie365 Жыл бұрын
@@sagittariusbeauty hey! I use heat once a month by straightening it. I did a ton of research on straight naturals and found some on Tik Tok and KZbin who had achieved my goal length which was waist length. I copied some of their regimines and tweeked some to fit my goal of little to no heat damage. I discovered they use salon quality products to *clarify* their hair during wash days to get all the build up off of their hair/scalp. Also…deep conditioner and trimming *all split ends* was found in ALL of their regimens. Each one with waist length spoke on those 3 things. Clarifying minimum once a month, deep conditioning, trimming (and a good heat protectant of course). During summer months I do more blow dried twist outs…I retain length in stretched style. My wash and gos (which was my go to) kept my hair the same length for 5+ years

I’ve cut off about 2 inches, but retained 4 inches of length after a full year of a consistent regimen. Plus scalp massages have added to a lot more hair density. And this was partly because of your videos and tips. This next year I want to get even better and retain 6 inches or more. Thank you Green Beauty for all your hard work and all you do. You’re giving us the tools for our hair to thrive and to change the narrative that our hair doesn’t grow. It most definitely does. And you’re proof of that. ❤👏🏾🤩

I'd like to add an option to your stretched style list. I've been using a Revair to stretch my hair after washing, and it has been a game changer. I never use it to get my hair completely dry. I don't want to dry out the ends. It's very low heat even at the 'high' setting, and I use a leave in conditioner and heat protectant for good measure. I've not been getting any damage from the heat, and don't have to use any real tension for stretching. I only use 50% tension for what the machine does, very gentle. I can then twist, braid, or curl my hair without tangled ends or knots and wash day also allows me to keep my hair stretched. The only time I get knots is if I skip the revair and do a twist out or braids on wet hair, or if I curl after the revair and leave it loose for several days, just putting a bonnet on overnight without putting the foam curlers back in. So long as I don't do either of those things, I have very easy detangling before washing and no knots. I try to make it a rare treat to curl my hair and wear it lose, with its length really showing. Mostly I just try to keep it tidy and well groomed looking, and healthy, clean and moisturized.

Great video. It's a confirmation for me. At the beginning of this year, I started to twist my hair instead of braids, in my usual four sections. I then put in my usual ponytail. The other thing I started to do was stretch my hair. This along with twisting instead of braiding has made a big difference. My hair is very curly at the end but when I stretch it out, my hair goes straight and it doesn't tangle like it used to. I think if I had done that from the beginning, I might be further along. But I thank God that I have any hair, since I've had to deal with sickness, but the Lord has and is healing me completely. Thank you Jesus. Thank you, I will continue to do this and look forward to the next video.

Thank you, big sis. I've been natural since 2016 and it's been a long process, starting with no knowledge, doing the wrong things, and experiencing setbacks alongside a few good times.😂 My hair is mid-back length but thin and short in some areas eg my edges. I've decided to be more intentional about my hair and health in general before the year runs out. I will be 25 in a few days and I want this new year in my life to be healthier, more productive, and filled with growth. With that being said, today, I did African threading with beads at the ends( I got the inspiration from the KZbinr@westafricanbaby). I also plan to finally try out your onion juice treatment starting in December moving forward( I hope my hair and scalp love it).🥺 Other things I want to do is wash my hair weekly, making sure my hair is moisturized, sealed, and stretched while in a protective style(two-strand twists and threading). Also, cultivate the habit of trimming my hair appropriately. I haven't found the right products for me to battle with dryness but I would figure that out before the year runs out. In the meantime, I will go back to your old videos and follow them religiously. I hope to come back with good tidings by this time next year. Thank you.❤️

I have some of your issues too. I've been natural all my life. Wishing you courage and knowledge on your journey. It's so good to see black women embracing their hair and not the "straight hair is good hair" thinking. I, too, by next year want to have successfully reached mid-back length again. Maybe you need to check up on your diet, water, sleep, stress level, exercise and use coconut oil or castor oil, maybe even avocado oil for dryness. Grease, too, maybe? Aloe vera diy gel or oil? 🤷🏾‍♀️

@@KarlaBedminister Hi, Karla, thank you. I do have to check up on my diet, water intake, stress level, and sleep routine and make a few changes, not just for my hair but for my overall health. I don't know about coconut oil, though. The last time I used it, my hair felt very dry. This was back in 2019. Same thing with shea butter. I stopped using both after that but yesterday after washing my hair, I decided to apply shea butter while my hair was still wet and it took it just fine. It didn't feel dry this morning. I plan to try it again but next time with a good leave-in or hair spritz. Aloe Vera is something I would add to my routine along with a simple Ayurvedic oil mix. Well, I believe we can achieve a healthy crown of hair. Thanks for the tips and I wish you well in your journey too, take care.

@@nininelson6108 Oh, yes. Thank you. My mother used to allow my hair to dry before adding grease and it swallowed everything but it would shine when we used shampoo and conditioner with coconut oil. It would be dry and looked thirsty but after a while her wisdom grew and she left it moist and it took shine the same day a few hours after washing. It would have shrunk badly and wet inside but extremely crusty outside. I'm trying to understand it more and more and as someone said we should study our hair to see if it needs washing instead of just washing weekly routinely when sometimes it may not need washing to cleanse. I don't use a lot of product on my hair and when I do they're mostly natural so someone said to just keep the scalp free or unblocked. I don't know how water only to the roots will help growth like Green Beauty said in another video. She said water as moisturizer in ends, cream the middle and herbal treat oil for ends. I'm wondering if all should be done the same day and reapply as needed bc there are penetrating oils and coating oils so idk in what order to put the oils. I guess no oil except for mask or pre-poo and then wash off...
@nininelson6108
@nininelson6108 Жыл бұрын
@@KarlaBedminister Hi, I'm sure you're going to figure it out. I've never used grease and I'm not sure I would use it but I would say follow greenbeauty’s teachings and pick out what works for you. First, it's for us to understand and know our hair porosity, type, and texture and move ahead. You can switch a few things up when you begin to try things out. I believe this is where one of my problems with dryness comes from but I'm determined to find a solution. I do know my hair liked the Ayurvedic hair oil I made a few years ago so I will go back to it once I find a good moisture base. The oil contained olive oil as my carrier oil, castor, amla, fenugreek, and Brahmi. I intend to make it again but with a twist using grapeseed, castor, avocado, amla, fenugreek seeds, Brahmi, and bhringjai with drops of any essential oil that works for me. I would use this also to make hair butter when I finally know which butter would work for me. We’d figure it out, don't worry❤️

I live in a climate, our winters get pretty cold here. Are mini twists and low buns good for colder climates? I've never went all winter with my hair out. I want so bad to not hide under wigs and crochet braids. Please give tips for colder winter wear for natural hair when you are able. I love your views and format! I just watched one of your old winter care videos..very good.

Thank you so much for adding the frame with all the stretching style options. Although I’ve been able to grow my hair close to BSL, I never know what styles to do and usually resort to a top bun or flat twists! ❤

I take my wog off each and every day and wash my hair regularly (1-2xs/wk). I finally have a consistent regimen that allows me to do allghat I need in the shower. I do an overall trim whenever I feel resistance when detangling (fingers or comb). I blowdry and use my olaplex products when doing an overall trim which is about every 4 months or so.

@yourjway If it's not the tightness of the twist then try "she scent it" scalp detox or a sugar and olive oil scalp scrub. Curly Proverbz also released 3 stimulating scalp oils. The lemongrass version is for scalp issues like irritation or fungus.

I myself keep wondering about this wash routine. Everyone is saying something different. High porosity is how often, general once a month but if you use onion juice wash after, if you use hot oil treatment after a wash day leave overnight and co-wash it, Mercy Gono, another KZbinr, says wash weekly or fortnightly, I'm confused.

I think she was saying she washed her hair once a week in mini twist, re twisting different sections of her twists each week. Then once a month take all the twists out, wash and re twist her whole head OR put in the yarn braids. @4:39

My hair thrived in dry Weather cause my regimen did well with the weather. Went from shoulder length to bra strap length but 😢 I didn’t trim cause I didn’t know what to trim. I used to trim all the time but when I got length I didn’t want to. I think I lost volume and length due to knots but my hair still looks thick. And it’s still long but not like it was months ago. But I’m trimming again and stopped using the brush I was using. Going back to my Felicia leatherwood brush and gonna stop using the brush blow dryer soo much.

How did you learn to properly trim yourself because I haven't trimmed in a while because my old trusted stylist doesn't live in my area anymore lol. So while I'm trying to find a trusted stylist, I'm over trying to watch video on how to do trims myself (but I'm too scared to do it cuz I think I might screw up)🤣🤣
@TriciaBims
@TriciaBims Жыл бұрын
@@nethaniapierre8149 I trim the ends of my hair in the sections that knot the most. If the ends look transparent in a blow dried or stretched state, I trim it. I trim little by little, and not too much. If my hair tends to break more in an area of my hair I trim the longer hair that is mixing with damaged ends. I’m not a professional I just trim what seems not healthy. When I trim its little pieces of hair too, never too much or you’ll loose length. I just trimmed my hair last week so won’t be trimming for the next 4 months. I don’t like trimming my hair at all but learned my hair did well that way, not everyone needs to trim so much but I have to. And always section the hairs and lift it up to trim and not down, so they you get all the hairs of then ends in that section. I hope this helped.

I can't wash my hair w/ twists or braids in. My hair will definitely knot-up, dry out and became tangled when I wash my hair while twisted. It helps me to blow-dry my hair to stretch it before I twist it.

@Nicole Edwards I wear loose twists often and have the same issue. I recently started doing a loose braid at the roots to help with this issue and then do a loose twist for the rest. It’s helped a lot to avoid so much tangling at the roots. Hope this helps. 😊
