I had a motorcycle accident a few years ago and while rehabilitation (waking around a park every day, super slowly) I started noticing mushroom that I would never have seen if I were hiking or running though the same area. I found your videos and am now completely infatuated with fungi. Historically, I’ve always hated “mushrooms” because all I knew of them were “white buttons” that comes on every pizza, in every soup, and in every spaghetti sauce. Mushrooms are SO much tastier, and SO much more fascinating than I would ever imagine, thanks to YOU. Though I’m probably 20 years older than you, you are SERIOUSLY, a role model and hero for me. Not only are you a great teacher, you inspired me to rehabilitate my body after my accident only so I could find more mushrooms!!!

I live in central eastern Mississippi. I find cinnabar's in areas where water tends to pool during heavy rains but will drain away within a couple of hours. Obviously not in the middle but right along the edges of those. We have had a fabulous year for chanterelles here in Mississippi and there has been a Non-Stop Supply since mid-june

Last chicken I found was during our Missouri turkey season, end of April, beginning of May. Been killin the chanterelles... lots of boletes too. No trumpets yet though. Thank you so much and happy foraging! :)

A very choice edible and it is a thrill every time you see that orange and yellow on a tree or stump. Great fun and exercise not mention all the wild live viewing along the way. On our last hunt we saw otters playing and sliding on the banks, beavers building a dam, and a peregrine falcon. Man that was fun. Keep the videos coming!!!

Jay Winchell , Nice! My cousin sells his mushrooms to restaurants. He made over a $1,000 last year. Not bad for doing something you enjoy. When I worked as a sous chef, the restaurant would regularly buy mushrooms from a guy that grew them at home. I'm sure it could be a very lucrative business with the right set up, and contacts.

hey adam, i'm in the Hidden Valley Ski Resort in PA and I bumped into some chanterelles. They seem yellow/orange, growing in patches, but they seem old and sort of dried up. Do you think they may be left over from the springtime? I found them 1month ago. They are still around and still dry and I don't see any newer softer ones growing. Found under oak trees on the side of the ski slopes in mossy ground near acorns.

I just found a mushroom that looks so much like Chicken of the Woods, but I can't be certain. A grouping were growing up a tree and the bright orange is what attracted us to them. The underside is bright yellow with very tight pores that are extremely tiny. The top is not shiny like other varieties. The differences in the mushroom that I found is that is doesn't have a yellow edge, it's orange to the end, and the striations are lighter orange, not yellow. Also, the edge is smoother, not as ruffly as the mushrooms in this video. If you have any ideas of what I've described, I'd really appreciate learning more. Thank you!
