I never thought of using rigid mesh. I've tried a bunch of things. Basketball hoop, laundry bag mesh.... But I like how the first perforated one has about 50% of the original color remaining. You could do some cool stuff with that texture, and some sponge painting to add branches or leaf-ish features. It turned out cool how you did it. Certainly considering how quick and dirty it is.

Brilliant! I'm going to try this on my Mossberg and I'll be adding a layer of grass stencils over the top to round it all out. I saw a couple of people saying the pattern is too consistent and doesn't look natural, but I'm guessing they've never seen hex camo before. Thanks for the great ideas!
@9992ube Жыл бұрын
Circle/Hexigon sub-pattern is excellent. Strips (at 4:40 minutes) breaks up form of gun perfectly and looks good. I've looked all over for round pattern gutter cover everywhere. Do you have any stencil template left?

Awesome! I have been meaning to paint my rifle. I was maybe going to use a screen to add texture, but I also like to use a piece of evergreen tree to make patterns like I did on my shotgun in my channel banner thing.

if you watched the whole video, i paint the same rifle 3 times, none of them were done to be permanent, the video IS about hoe easy it is to make simple patterns with simple objects. Yes if it was done to be permenant then i would of given the stock a propper prep job, but by not doing it, i was able to clean of the paint easily. Thanks for Your comment.

Do you prefer Rustoleum or Krylon?
@MidasWelby6 жыл бұрын
I don't think i have a preference, when I buy it I just make sure it will stick to metal and plastic. Ive even used high temp spray paint that has works well on guns (but they have limited colors). I Do prefer to do it myself and cheap because if you use your rifle its gonna get scratched, and then I can touch it up myself. I wouldn't pay someone $$$ to paint a gun, but that's just me

like we need to see the home depot ad for the stencil stuff.. we're not retarded, we know how to buy stuff.. the finished product is way to uniform. if he took some leaves and branches from the yard and did a third coat it would of broke up the pattern and looked awesome.
@MidasWelby6 жыл бұрын
thanks for your opinion ED Potts, don't be so serious. this video is just a example of how easy it could be to paint your gun. My only firm belief is that people can camo their firearm for under $25 ,, instead of paying someone hundreds of dollars to do it for them. everyone lives in different areas and they should make the camo match their surroundings if they are trutly trying to go full camo. that's not what this is about. furthermore,,, there are people that don't know what a gutter guard is or where to buy one. did you watch the whole vid? did you notice it took seconds to paint those patterns? did you notice that I painted different patterns on each side of the rifle, then painted over both to show the last pattern? don't be so serious and thanks for watching.have a good day.

Midas Welby my question to you is what type of spray paint are you using like what kind should I buy for the synthetic plastic rifle so that it doesn't peel off
@MidasWelby6 жыл бұрын
Jf, so far, Ive had the best luck with a Rustoleum spraycan and some from Sherwin Williams. the most important thing is to read the application instructions to make sure the paint bonds to plastic and can handle the elements (outside). next step is to make sure you prep the plastic properly, (light sanding and then clean the surface), then , make sure you give the paint enough time to cure (not dry, but cure). Most of the guys I know, don't bother with the "top shelf" paint like Duracoat , but stay away from the cheap $2 spraypaint. hope this helps ya some
