Very inspiring and motivational. Interesting method to test for leaks by pushing the mid. Learnt something else from your videos. Would love to see the 4th video with the woofer testing. Thanks again for taking the time.

Awesome Tip on @ 6:45 . I have always tried to find how installers are certain if boxes are sealed.

Very detailed and excellent work, one quick question - i see you use wood to form the outer shell/ shape of the enclosure which surely is a very tedious work in itself, any particular reasons you avoid using fibreglass reign over a stretch cloth to define the outer shell/ shape instead.
@pssound97496 жыл бұрын
Hi Rahul Yes, it could be done that way too, but: 1. On driver side where space was very limited, things in the way, it wouldn’t have worked or you would have lost lots of airspace. 2. To get the same strength with fiberglass as with plywood, you have to build up multiple layers. Most installers make a big mistake by just making it thin, trim it, done->looks nice, customer is happy...not for long! The way i do it eliminates resonances and that is the key to make sealed enclosures perform great. It is tedious, time consuming, but the result is worth it! If you heard the setup, you’d definitely say: it’s worth it!! 💪🤘 Next video is the interview with the owner! 😉

Dave from Jamaica ~Peter you are skilled beyond measure!!! One quick question,how do you feel about using planar magnetic drivers(like Bohlander Grabener)and ribbon tweeters(Fountek)in a car.I've seen it in the kick panels of a Honda Civic Coupe (American left-hand drive)on Google.
@pssound97496 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave, i'm trying! ;) Some people use small format ribbons here in Europe too, but not very popular. I guess because the trend is to have a stage at eye level and hence most installs have mid-highs up high and large format drivers are out of the question. Also, it'd be hard to control reflections with them i assume...personally i've never used.

Hi Peter beautiful work. I have a ? Im gonna start building some kick panels for my truck hopefully soon, would it matter if the speaker is on or off axis?

Thanks for the speedy reply. I just thought of something; have you ever tried or done ported door subwoofers if not why not?
@pssound97496 жыл бұрын
I have. I built my previous car with Brax Matrix 6.1 in 6,5L ported boxes running on a DLS A3 150W/ch and it was lot of fun! It acted as an aircon as the ports were blowing a serious amount of air! 😆 If badass output in 50-100Hz range is priority, then yeah, but it’s not as accurate as sealed or IB. I also built this a year ago as the drivers were supplied by the client and the specs of the driver were asking ported. How and what do you use to "tune" or change the volume of the enclosure to get the best response? In other words if the enclosure is to big use tennis balls to decrease the volume of the enclosure? lol, I'm serious.

Axis In the world of car audio sound quality i’ve never experienced anything as too large enclosure. It’s always the case that it’s rather small. If it was too big, i’d go for a larger driver.

Sealed works if my midbass has phase plugs? i have the Focal PS165fx 2 way components.
@pssound97495 жыл бұрын
compras flexifoam It’s not the phase plug that determines if a speaker works well in a sealed enclosure, but the T/S parameters. Most Focal midbass drivers have specs for a door application, so they require much airspace, so i’d peobably not recommend that driver, even if i haven’t seen the specs.

@@pssound9749 Thanks for the advice and thanks for sharing your amazing projects, I have to admit that I am influenced by your installs, now I have DLS A4, A5 and A6 (very very good shape BTW) amplifiers waiting to be installed in my car. Planning and install takes a lot of time. Waiting for your new projects. Greetings from Mexico.
