Unexpected consequences of decluttering for me so far: waking up earlier, cooking more often, feeling more confident in my abilities to tackle difficult problems. For me, decluttering is a form of self care that I didn't know I needed😊.

We started having Thai food takeout for thanksgiving and Christmas since we were having smaller gatherings with older children who aren’t really into the big turkey meal and fixings. I was drained physically, emotionally, and mentally. We tried it, we love it, it was non stressful, and now it’s become our tradition 😅❤

My husband keeps saying we should do this for both holidays and I've pushed back on it but maybe you and he have the right idea! We're vegan and I cook all plant based sides and desserts and if someone wants meat, they handle that but this allows everyone to just get exactly what they want. Hmmmm thanks for the confirmation that it's ok. (And I can then probably hold onto fewer serving pieces...)

No offense, but this just sounds sad putting in the effort to cook for others and show thankfullness is the point of thanksgiving .
@bonniejohnson177Күн бұрын
@@i.m.watching5536 IS THAT what thanksgiving is about? Is it about doing tasks that may be right for others but no longer fit your family dynamic just so someone doesn't say that's not right to do it this way bc it's not what we believe? Or is Thanksgiving being with family and doing what is best for your family without judging others?

Yes, alternate meal for Thanksgiving. We had prime rib, roasted potatoes, steam in the bag vegetables, and dinner rolls, pie, frozen and baked the day before , and ice cream later in the day. One pan as the potatoes were peeled and cut in the roasting pan, put bag in the microwave for veggies, and popped dinner rolls in oven while roast was resting. Easy! Took just a few minutes prep time, basically peeling a few potatoes. Not overwhelming and we were able to visit and relax during the day.

We did something special this year with a somewhat traditional Thanksgiving meal with Turkey and dressing. But this time, we each brought 4 items that our individual family actually WANTED to eat instead of the traditional southern dishes. One appetizer, two sides, one dessert from each sibling’s family. We chose food that could be prepped on Wednesday and cooked on Thursday at the host home. So we arrived early and cooked together and snacked on appetizers. And possibly drank a little wine . It was SO MUCH FUN with all of the female siblings and sisters in law cooking together. We’ve never done that before. We always stress for days, cook food no one wants and the food is cold by the time we get there. 😝. AND. the grandkids were able to immediately go play instead of sitting through a meal no one wanted. Perfect!!! It’s now our new tradition.

I love being included in the definition of "middle aged woman" because middle age encompasses such a broad swath of time. I feel so youthful regardless of my current age (68) and I thought middle age applied to me by my mid-30's when so many major things had already happened in my life. Here is the great thing: once I embraced the idea of what middle age meant, it also meant getting to own all the wisdom and equanimity living life brought with it. And I was amazed to discover that I had so much more impact than I ever thought my footprint on this earth could lead to. And it led me to trusting myself and trusting the world. I try to be a force for kindness, support and validation, and it begins smack in the center of me, in a way I could not have known fully in my 20's.

I don't think I count as "middle aged", Dawn - I'm not even 10 years out of college yet (and yes, I graduated at the normal age). There *_better_* be snow in the Cities for Christmas! Sorry not sorry: last year was so depressing - green grass on Christmas Day is just *_wrong!!_* (if it'd been sunny, that might have been a different story, but it wasn't - it rained the entire day) All the rain was so miserable - there was less than half a day's worth of sunshine, and even less snow than that, during the entire 3 1/2 weeks I was there. I would take the weather of Christmas '13 over last year's any year, hands down! I think the reason your generation holds onto stuff so much is because you were raised by people who grew up during the Great Depression, so your parents learned it because they lived through it, so they taught their kids (your generation) to do the same, and your generation teaches your kids (my generation) to do it, and it just keeps going.
@kathychatterton56232 күн бұрын
I think there is some truth in what you say, but you seem to have your generations confused. From what she’s said in the past I think I am older than Dawn’s parents (71) and the Depression ended 12 years before I was born.

Please help. I paid for the Live Free option. I can't get to the step after signing up for the Facebook group. I also can't do it right now. (Long shifts plus aging parents.) How do I get to the intro video in a few days? Also, I signed up under my real name. I use a fake name for security reasons on KZbin.

You’ll go to the minimal mom website and log in! The intro videos are there too!

I really enjoyed watching your videos for awhile, but I was very disappointed when I heard you promoting an MLM company's products. Thank you for what you have taught me, but I do not want to support that type of business so I'll be unsubscribing. I'll miss your cluttering tips, and I wish you and your family well.

I don't like MLMs either but Trades of Hope has dropped the MLM! Someone on here told me that Hannah Alonzo discussed it on her YT channel so it definitely happened! Yay!! MLMs are becoming a thing of the past finally.

Ugh..middle aged women…I HATE being called that! It’s about as bad as being called a Karen! LOL. I haven’t listened yet but I just had to laugh/cringe when I saw the title of the video!

Is there a way to pay for the entire year up front at this price?
@dianasimplifies2 күн бұрын
Pretty sure you can just pay yearly. I'm in the group and as it is now it is cheaper to pay by the year. I assume that will still be a thing.
