hi i was locking at your cork handel if you use a fine sand paper on it and use a clear varnish on it about 3 coats it will save the cork i do all my rods with it its a great job

Thanks for the tip 👍 They are some pretty big holes in as well now so I think I will put some filter in and then varnish it over. Greys also send me now bottom pies of the rod on warranty but I will try to fix the old one first.

Used to fish Melrose area when I lived their and caught plenty but the river's not quite what it used to be

Great place to fish! True but this season is very good, this beat has 32 fish already, which is equal to what they had the whole season last year.

@@Hookedonfly they used to catch that in one beat each week back in they days I myself caught many salmon on trout flies! Mertoun estate has some good pools further down the water that hold good fish there's some deep pools and the cauld on the upper beat always supplies good luck 🤞

I have seen plenty of fish this spring, but never touched any. Hopefully with the warmer weather it will pick up

Salmon are getting scarce I fished d river Moy in Ireland all my life never seen it as bad 😢

Great video and stunning location Tam. I enjoy a week on the Upper Tweed every year, mid October this coming year. Which line and head are you using there? It moved really nice. Im looking at the Rio AFS Shooting Head kit, but unsure at the moment.

Thanks, where do you fish on the Tweed? I’m using RIO ELITE SCANDI OUTBOUND. I was deciding between this and the Rio shooting head kit as well. I was looking for one line no loop to loop connection if that make sense, I would highly recommend it. @@Hookedonfly Hi Tam, I'm booked on Holylee, Glenorminston and Fairnlee for October, they are beautiful beats also. Last year there were end of season Salmon in abundance but very lethargic in November which is when I fished and very coloured fish too. They had no interest in my flies at all. Thank you for the link on the Scandi head, I really like the idea of the single loop too. 👍🏻

Which beat is that Tam? I’d love to meet up with you. I’ve got a holiday home in Kelso and started salmon fishing a year ago. Struggling to get my casting right …still got my trout casting head on !! Great videos thank you and beautiful scenery. The border region is simple amazing

Nice! I need to check those beats out 👍 I was fishing in upper levels last November as well, seen lots and lots of fish moving but never touch any. Apparently that’s the hardest time of the year to catch them, as they are focused only on spawning. No problem, tight lines 👊

Beat is called Tweedswood, really good place to fish. Ah good for you, Kelso is nice and have a nice tackle shop as well. It’s hard to come from single handed rod to double but practice make perfect 👌 Tight lines 👍
