The average Brit isn't very resilient at all, look at "lockdown", people weren't allowed to go to the pub or cinema for a few months and they lost their minds and broke down into 2 year old tantrums. Most refused to wear masks like little babies, they acted like they had experienced something difficult and had made sacrifices just by staying at home watching TV, being paid to nothing by the government and having food and goods delivered straight to your house like roman emperor. All of Asia got on without a single grumble, not one 2 year temper tantrum about wearing a mask or not going to the pub for a few weeks

The same development towards extremist right takeover of civil functions, targeting minorities and opposition in general and muslims in particular, is playing out in my home country Sweden. They way the swedish government has followed USA and UK when it comes to Israels mass murder in Gaza is only one among many indicators. And it goes fast. It is only 10 years ago a swedish government declared Palestine as a state... which the current government wants to revoke.

I have been watching Bones of Crows, and although my comments may not directly address Peter's Oborne discussions on Britain's issues with the government's be it Conservitive or Labour of today, there are parallels to this real to life story. It shows that little has changed in over 100 years, one only has to see what is happening in Gaza by the inhumane Israelis is a parallel to what happened to the American and Canadian Indians, and to our Aborigines here in Australia. I know that the vast majority of people around the world, including I hope the Jewish people, are appalled at the carnage that is happening in Gaza and the West Bank, however the Politicians in our so called Western Democratic countries remain silent.

Im not a brit so this all seems just insane to me. "Hate" or "extremist" thinking is not a crime nor is it worthy of all the attention the subject garners. To me if you want to hate its your business if you aren't breaking laws or no one is being physically harmed or legitimately endangered. I would say that there are extremists in every race, religion, and society. The good thing in the UK as opposed to the US for example, is most Brits are common sensed and do not like to be played fools by any extremist, whether they are Gove and his Tory cronies, or an extremist Muslim or Jew or Christian figure. Therefore I don’t think this play by the torries as an election ploy with their devastating poll numbers will impress many people. The problem is that labour leadership are just as bad and manipulative. Pity that a country of such a widespread decent people are ruled by such two political parties. The UK needs to find a better system of governance.
