Ooh, stuffing topped pie - sounds good! Sounds a bit like the savoury version of a crumble-topped pie. Made me wonder whether a scone or dumpling base/top would be an interesting pie idea. They're both similar to pastry, just with a different texture. On further reflection, the dumpling one is pretty much a steamed pudding (like a steak & kidney pie), but perhaps the scone idea is worth trying?

I once had a pork pie (called a growler round our way) that had an apple topping on it. It was from a stall in Halifax market and I didn't enjoy it. A pork pie to me is made with a hot lard pastry, eaten fresh from the oven with the jelly all runny on a load of mushy peas with a bit of mint sauce on. The best ever were in a shop in Rawson Market in Bratfud called Pie Tom's. We'd bunk off school to spend a day there.

Excellent. And now the 'Pie_ce de Resistance' Ta Dah!!. A 'Widgit is often the term applied to an item that can not be described but is essential. For instance, the thing in a Can of Draft Guiness, a small plastic moulding, which makes the contents foam up as a Poured Draft Guiness does is called a 'Widget' and lots of other things are as well.

The nearest thing to gammon here is a smoked ham steak but will give them a go as a treat for Xmas and new year 👍🏼❤️

Gammon is from the whole side of bacon, I’m wondering what could be a substitute in the USA… fried ham is very similar to the U.K. back bacon. If I find a good alternative I’ll come back and post lol

@@RebelRed hey Reb, I have just bought 2-1/2 lb of back bacon frozen at the local British shop for $25 not even going to chop that for a pie as i have bacon butties planned ❤️👍🏼 I do miss boiled bacon and new potatoes swimming In Butter 😘

Overly-sensitive folks nowadays would tell you you can't say midget anymore. You have to call them "little people", but Little People Fidget Widget just doesn't have the same ring to it. And people might wonder about the actual ingredients with such a name.🙃
