As someone who uses stampede in my 5 color dragon deck if I vote free you should vote wild, but generally free is the better option as Josh, I think correctly, lays out. The only reason I as the player casting stampede would vote free is if there are 4 stellar permanents in my hand that I want out all at once

"Xolo's deal" is like a new version of a prisoner's dilemma. It would be interesting to break that down even further and determine what the most rational choice is.

The most rational choice is to both reject the deal (simultaneously if that matters). Xolo can't actually attack either because then he loses, so he's left doing nothing and they can both kill him whenever they please. I'm amazed they played into his hand! He basically made a big bluff to make them feel threatened while he was in a losing position and they took it. It's similar to when someone tells you to not target them with a spell because they'll counter it. If everyone continues to not target them because they're scared of the counter the person effectively gets to counter lots of extra spells. The right play is often to simply dare them to use their counter.

What he'd probably do is see what he has in his hand to offer as help for one of the players and try to make a new deal for his survival. He seems like someone who wants to do the best he can or at least let the other two play it out, rather than taking someone out and ending the game by picking who wins.

I'd make a separate deal with the other player where we both accept, but don't attack each other either. Just develop board states, keep your defences at max and don't weaken each other for his benefit.

The decisions on this particular vote card for every player(including one casting it) should be considered depending on context. The usual "go with a mass" plan went awry here because Jimmy played mind games on Josh, expecting him to pursue the most "optimal" play here. I always vote for hand when casting it if I have more than 3 cards, gotta show the confidence.

Considering jimmy himself took "free" it was already a hint that he had at least 4 permanent to play. The basic guest when you play that is that at least one person will let you draw from your deck. but if they don't you can trow up enchantment and other stuff than only creatures from your hand. so it really depend on the type of deck using it.

So, did anyone else notice that Josh was showing everyone all the cards he was looking at when Florian says "At the beginning of your postcombat main phase, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is the total amount of life your opponents lost this turn. Exile one of those cards and put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. " Florian only makes you exile only one of them, you get to look at them privately first.

At 1:05:18 I think Josh should have gained a life. Decimate destroys all its targets simultaneously. That means Lady V had a creature die that Josh’s Meathook Massacre would have “seen” die even though it went to the GY at the same time as the creature. I don’t think it changes the outcome of the game but it would have changed Lady V’s following turn.

This is a example of why I think End-Raze Forerunners is often better that Craterhoof in EDH. Unlike in constructed, a Craterhoof is usually not enough to win on the spot and then the vigilance that ERF gives you is great for staying alive on the swing back.

I really like the Selvala's Stampede play. Because I imagine this is a card Jimmy and Josh have discussed extensively before, in private if not on their podcast. So they probably actually share a mind on the correct response. But because of this, Jimmy knows that he needs to have enough good things in his hand for the if and when Josh convinces everybody to pull from his hand. It's a case of knowing his enemy. Playing around Josh allowed him to get his preferred outcome. It's the sort of thing I feel happens only when you've been playing across someone for years.

Josh used his turn to pop off.... then ask Xolo to sacrifice his whole turn to finish off Jimmy. Just to turn around and nuke his life total. Had he respected Xolo and instead held off the pain for a turn, I think Xolo would have helped with Voxy and possibly pulled the W, or Josh toke it in the end. Either way, that was dirty.

love the good work and love the series as a whole. but I have a small criticism if its welcome. so I realised especially in the last few episodes that jimmy and josh are sitting mostly at the same place each time. and since jimmy has a more explosive gameplay while josh is more control/value based, ı think the order matters. is it possible for you guys to shuffle seatings from game to game? because it feels like having josh play right after jimmy hinders jimmys explosiveness since josh generally has an answer
