Sarah saying that it would be a good idea to see this movie in the theater if you're on drugs reminds me of the time I came out of a movie theater, looked out the door to see that it was pouring down rain where it hadn't been two hours before, and the theater employee I walked passed said in a very high sounding voice, "Whoa, it's raining."

I remember years ago on the Nerdist Podcast, one of the people that Hardwick interviewed was talking about how his dream project would be to make a movie that was the grand epic of how Captain Hook became Captain Hook, except that the fact that he was Captain Hook would turn out to be a twist at the end and Peter Pan wouldn't be involved at all except maybe the very end. I wonder if Pan started out as that movie and then got meddled to shit.

First off: This is my reaction if I ever did see this movie, and please keep this in mind, I didn't watch this I am writing a small scenario of how I would react to this movie: *Sitting in his chair, after seeing the film, with his face covered by his hands, looking ashamed and defeated after seeing the results of a 150 million dollar Peter Pan origins film project, and when someone asked him of his thoughts of this movie, he begins to slowly slide both hands down and then begin shake his head saying: "No..No-No! No! No! No! No! Nope! Nope! Nope!! This movie is a whole lot of fucking NOPE!!" Quoting The Cinema Snob, to express his disapproval of this film and it's direction* The Reason I didn't wanna see this movie was primarily because of using the palest Actress in Hollywood(Feel free to correct this notion), Rooney Mara to play Tiger-Lilly, and from what I know of the story, was a Native American character. I have seen several White-wash roles, and this one was stretching it so fucking far, that Johnny Depp as Tonto in The Lone Ranger was the most appropriate representation of a Native American character, since Kathy Bates as an Eskimo in North! But now from you and Sarah said about the movie, this only strengthen my opinion that I was right to avoid this horrible film, and made me love "Hook" and the animated Peter Pan flicks. Thank you again, Brad & Sarah! :D

I haven't see Pan but am I only one from just watching the trailer think that everyone was just too young for the character? I mean this is going with the entire point of neverland that you do not age so for one I expected Pan to be around 16. Course there is that theory that everyone in neverland is dead that's why they don't age but that's beside the point :P But yeah everyone being so young implies that you do age in neverland. Estimation based on how they appear in cartoon.

And to think _Peter Pan_ usually has actually pretty good adaptations... the more I hear this go on the less faith I have in it and the less I want to see this, even though I adore _Peter Pan_. And I thought _Hook_ was considered a "good" movie despite the fact that it totally disregarded the golden rule of _Peter Pan_, the very first line, "All children, except one, grow up." Like I've spent my whole life thinking I'm the only person who doesn't like it.
@aromaladyellie
@aromaladyellie 8 жыл бұрын
Corey Pack I dunno if I directed it, I'd do a romance, since Wendy's crush on Peter is a sign that she's growing up, which is why Peter doesn't notice, let alone reciprocate (and a large part of why I hated _Hook_, since "love" made him decide to grow up into the very adult he decided not to grow up to avoid becoming, which violates the laws set by the universe in the very first line of the book)- he's never going to know love because love is selfless and Peter is meant to have the selfish, inherent nature of a very young child, despite being physically around eleven or twelve. I think I'd like to have someone from Broadway rather than a pop star do the song, too, but play it over the credits like they did with the last _Hobbit_ movie. Like a child, because a child would be perfect to capture the emotions of Wendy in the movie, a song about her debate and eventual choice. Do an instrumental of it for a scene like the one you mentioned and have it be Wendy's leitmotif. I'd really like to see the clear image of the metaphors in the story and Wendy's choice to grow up or never grow up. And also, have the impact implied in the books that they leave just before Christmas and return in the spring. the Darling family is really just so very intriguing (I really enjoyed Jason Issacs as Mr Darling). I'd also love, just once, to see _Peter Pan_ get the same treatment _Alice in Wonderland_ always gets, which is the dark twist. Something like those _Alice: The Madness Returns_ games. After all, Wendy WAS the only one of her brothers and the Lost Boys to remember Neverland as real, and all the groundwork is there- the female denizens of Neverland do not want Wendy there, but Peter does, and the book implies Neverland is both alive and connected to Peter, so what he wants, so does Neverland. He's selfish, so he never really wanted Wendy to leave him, and Wendy herself is implied to be connected to Neverland due to being the only one to remember anything. There's something about those two books that makes them so hard to adapt. Maybe it's because they're very similar stories about one little girl (based on a real one the author knew) who doesn't want to grow up and become boring, but ultimately is too mature for the nonsenses of childhood, travelling to a mystical dreamland to learn that she's more mature than she's willing to admit.
@aromaladyellie
@aromaladyellie 8 жыл бұрын
Corey Pack I don't want reciprocated romance at all, because Peter never reciprocated Wendy's feelings- Peter doesn't know how to love. That's why he forgets things and gets bored of things easily and has no problem killing the Lost Boys when they get too old. Peter cannot hold affection for anything because of his immaturity and selfishness. He eventually would have gotten bored of Wendy, since it's not like she's Scheherazade to him, and Wendy would have grown up (Neverland doesn't stop you from growing up- All children, except one, grow up). The thing about Peter is he's unchanging in every possible way- physically, mentally, emotionally, developmentally. Wendy might have feelings for him, but Peter _cannot_ reciprocate. It's how he is. Wendy's love for Peter has to be unrequited. I kinda thing true, unrequited romances are seriously lacking in the movie world, because the person with the unrequited crush either A) realises the person they like is horrible and they fall in love with their best friend who has always been in love with them secretly, or B) they manage to get their feelings returned by impressing the love interest. There's always a happy ending for the romance. I'd like for them to show Wendy's feelings not being returned, and her feeling love's keen sting for the first time, and let her move on, allowing all of that to show just how mature Wendy is and that she already _has_ grown up. (Shrug) But I suppose I'm just jaded to romance in general, since _I've_ never had my feeling reciprocated. I really do like your idea- I'd certainly go see it and likely would own it on DVD, and were I still RPing, incorporate details of it into my Wendy. It's not like I'm _totally_ averse to Peter and Wendy. I really enjoyed the 2003 movie, it's one of my favourite live action movies, and it played the romance rather well. I'd just like to see Wendy dealing with Peter not reciprocating her feelings. I'd also like to see just how much she was affected by what happened to her- any normal person would have some PTSD from repeated murder attempts and getting kidnapped over the span of a few months (or just days, as they play it). Well, I say a few months, but it seems to be years in Neverland. I did figure out some time that time passes differently in Neverland, but I can't remember in what way. Oh, speaking of, I'd also like Tink to be the asshat she actually is to everyone. Even Peter.
