I saw the first one for my tenth birthday cause it was the only movie I wanted to see cause it looked cool to me at the time and I saw the second one with my mom cause we had nothing to do on a Sunday night in 2013. Watching the first one again in 2016 was probably the worst experience of my life knowing how bad the writing was, and to this day I regularly have nightmares of watching the second in the cinema and trying to escape but the voices of those characters are surrounding the fucking hallway.

I think the best line of the movie, which isn't saying much, is when NPH says "So do you get named at birth or do they wait until you show a certain trait or what?" That's never answered, but its a good fucking point. And if you know that a Smurf is going to be something potentially quite dangerous, like Clumsy Smurf, from birth or a few weeks after birth, why the fuck wouldnt they just kill it right away?

Not too mention why do we have to have all these dimension crossing or time traveling stories to the present day? Oh right PRODUCT PLACEMENT. My bad. That stuff didn't exist in once upon a time. I would have wanted to see a potentially interesting origin story or fairy tale story in general with the main characters living their lives in their own world kind of, sort of, maybe just maybe based on the source material. I guess I was wrong for thinking outside the box of following the same path of many movies before (good or bad). What the Smurf was I thinking?!

Thank the Lord I did not see The Smurfs. My sister and my niece went to see the movie, I didn't. I knew it was gonna be trash. They took a well known cartoon show that was based on the comics from another country. There was an animated feature that came out in the late 70's if I remember correctly.
