Hey man I’m just wondering since you’ve had so much success im Rocco and im 15 I really want to start an outdoor channel but i don’t really know where to start any tips??

@@rocco3753 hope Joe responds, but here's a tip, Film a bunch before you set up your channel so that you have maybe a month or so of videos to post so you're not overwhelmed trying to keep up. Depending on how often you need/want to post per week. The more people are engaged in your channel, the more the algorithm will suggest your videos. Also try looking into Patreon for more compensation, but that may be best a bit later once you get an audience.
@IosuamacaMhadaidh

@@rocco3753 also, once you are making money, don't forget to set up your taxes. If you go a long time without paying taxes on your income, the IRS will be looking for back taxes once you get found out. It's not worth the headache to try and avoid the IRS (assuming you're American, if not, look into your country's revenue/tax laws.)

I have a small place in the country here in Missouri. 2 acre yard is pretty open, but a nice rectangle patch of woods about 30yds by 60 yds was left untouched. In the middle is a perfect little clearing with a large bowl type divot about 8ft diameter, mounded rim 3/4 around it....like nature's perfect fire pit. Built kids a small pallet fort with a table on the side, hung my hammock, and built a little Joe inspired bushcraft lean-to also. Not much, but my little piece of heaven where I can be a kid again. So relaxing and peaceful to get outside and kick back, or work on more improvements. About the only break I get from mundane daily tasks of life. Glad I can live vicariously through people like Joe and others.

THE BEST TYPE OF 'JOE' VIDEO. Heading out into the night and arriving at a place of shelter was a different and fun beginning. Seeing you get back to enjoying yourself more while filming was great. PLUS, you showed more skills and thought in practicing the craft. The FORT now looks fine inside and out. The firepit is 'just about right.'

Just an idea maybe you might want to think about. How about building a raised roof above the fire pit. 4 posts 2 beams and logs running the other way. It could be whatever height above the existing roof to give you the amount of light you need. Could even slope it so runoff runs down the back of the fort. It would give you plenty of space to vent out the smoke straight up above the fire pit. I've built something similar myself with 2 lean to shelters facing each other. Raised roof in the middle fire pit below. Doors on both ends. One leading to another lean to that I store processed wood in.

@@HonorableBeniah-A: Truly, Brother, this is a traditional idea for hunter's camps in North America. A 'long fire' between the two parallel, relatively low lean-to shelters warms 2-4 hunters. One shelter's roof is built a bit higher than the other roof and overlaps to prevent or limit the amount of rain and snow that comes in.

I have a thought for the gap in the roof above the fire. You could make up a section of roof with the long poles in the same way the rest of the roof is done, but tie them all together in one piece with bracing on the underside. And then have the tarp on top and then when you arrive at the fort, you push the front edge up and prop it up with a piece of wood to let the smoke out and sun in. And then when you leave you could close it back up so no snow gets in. Kind of like the little fan openings you see on top of caravans. Just a thought. Loving the build so far 👌

Love all the improvements, love the fort! I am slightly concerned about the new tarp layer. The shots from up top at the end, it looks like the melting snow on the exposed brown tarp will just run down between the layers to that tear and continue to leak above the bed. (Also, I love the idea of seeing the wood stove added to the fort)

Two suggestions Joe: make a rake out of a handle and a cross member, split or not. Also, if you anchored the upper or front end of your tarp to a long cross member, it could be tied up higher than the front roof area to still allow smoke out and light in, especially if the tarp were long enough to extend past the gap opening between the sleeping area and the front

Really like that you're back at the fort. Something you might consider, in spring when it's warming up, is to remodel your roof. If you had a pitch to it (like a house), the water and snow would run off instead of collect. You could use your white tarp at the top, or clear plastic like your windows for it to allow a lot of light thru, while keeping you dry.

The only thing I would have done a little bit different is the new tarp needs to come up to meet the old tarp underneath... only a problem in the winter with fire and melt, but come spring when the big melts come, its all sliding down the old tarp and into the big gapping whole in the middle of it, and right to the middle of the sleeping system. Still inspiring and love the little boy mentality that comes out during the shoots! Keep it up Joe!

I don't think it is legitimate to call it a fort until you install guard towers and crenellations.
