I know this isn't relevant, but there's a free mod which technically uses the DOOM 2 engine. It's called total chaos, about a mentally ill man called Tyler going to an island called Fort oasis where it has been taken over by monsters and he struggles to deal with the Dark arts of his mind. It's quite a well made mod, even having things like crafting, inventory management, weather effects and weapon durability You might want to try it out

4:34 As a part time cardboard box enthusiast a 2D rendering of a 3D cardboard box disturbs me. You cant put anything in a 2D box. Not even a 2D object can fit in a 2D box. You can fit an infinite number of 2D objects in a 3D cardboard box of any size. But even the smallest 3D cardboard box could not fit in a 2D space of size. In 2D, "inside" would be a strange concept. Hey Midnight, don't know if you knew this...but some WAD's/Mods that you download actually contain the deleted files/versions and there is a way of restoring them. ALSO THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART : Quake I & Quake II have a ton of very very very interesting maps, you should in particular look for a map created by a "Killer". Have fun! The guy they knew.
