I don't really have any actual hotel experiences, at least not that I vividly remember. The only thing that I can remember was at a motel/restaurant combo. We were out for dinner with the family, and I had fallen I'll due to some of the food being poorly prepared. As compensation, I was given a room to stay in, free of charge, so I may rest and avoid risking spreading of my illness. I remember the room given to me was small and cramped. With only really a bed, a TV and a dedicated room for a shower and a toilet. I remember feeling cold. And turning off the lights in the room didn't feel right. It was almost as if I had night vision, as after turning off the light, everything had a faint blueish light shining on it coming from the wall behind the bed. I remember feeling sweaty from being I'll, and wanting to wash off the sweat. So I stepped in the shower cabin. It was very small and cramped. The water never really got warm and the pressure was mediocre at best. When my family came to pick me up after dinner. I looked back at the room I stayed in. And realized that it all kinda felt...surreal...like I was never there to begin with. As if I had passed out and had a fever dream. It probably was that, but that did leave a serious impression on me of hotels. And to this day, the idea of staying in one makes me feel uncomfortable.

There's a hotel called "The Crescent Hotel" in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. it was originally built around 1900AD as a cancer hospital and was lead by a "doctor" (he was actually a heartless, greedy conman) named Dr. Baker who knowingly lied to his patients and their families, telling them that the local springwater was a cure for cancer. A vast majority of these people died in what are now the hotel rooms. I have stayed there about 20 times with my family and friends over the years. One night i was kicked back on the bed watching TV while my gf of the time was taking a shower. The air conditioning window-unit turned itself on and the tv started changing channels on its own. it was pretty wild. 😬

Hello Midnight, i am Das Lawrence, Co-creator of this mod along with RedHeadMetalC (HevnDemonic-90eks on Moddb), i worked mainly on decorate actors and the mod's story First of all thanks for playing our mod, we spent a heckload of months working on it and perfecting it before releasing it. We definitely did not take inspiration from the movie REC as you said in your video, as our main goal was to give the Backrooms meme some kind of meaning in the first place. However, if ever possible, me and my friend would like you to play the mod in its entirety, as few really managed to complete it. Of course after that you'll get a complete picture of the story behind this mod. Thank you again for playing!

Wasn't there a huge scandal with BetterHelp a few years back? @@nisnast True dat. KZbinrs aren't as diligent about screening their sponsors as big companies and major celebrities are, so they're easier marks for shady products and services. It's just so easy to find a KZbinr with a decent sized audience that has few or no sponsors yet whose eyes will grow to the size of dinner plates if you flash a little cash at them. Even if some KZbinrs have wised up and are being more cautious of who they take deals with, there will always be someone smaller and less diligent to target.

What's up, Hevn here. Nice to see you cover our mod, i think you went little too literal with brightness, i never play those maps as this super dark as you did, that's why you dont need Flashlight until way much later (and it's very different). Maybe if you viewed preview video from The Outdoomers channel and see how contrast and brightness levels are better suited, you get the idea. When doing maps, I took inspirations a lot from Backrooms (mainly aesthetic of it), Hotel related horror stories and some from my own personal nightmares. You still did way better showcase than some others who used custom gun addons on our work, you at least can handle the guns that come within.

Gave this a try, and could NOT deal with the goddamn bloodcrawlers. Yes, they're attracted to gunfire, but they also seem to spawn out of those circular holes in the walls at random, heavily favoring any time that you happen to be in the vicinity, and even if you see one coming in time to react it's already too late because they can match your run speed. I literally cannot progress because no matter what direction I go in, one of these things always pounces me inside of 30 seconds. 12:58 A magazine is the part of a gun that holds bullets and feeds them into the firing chamber. Shotguns have internal magazines, pistols and assault rifles have removable/replaceable magazines. A "clip" is something that holds bullets together and makes them easier to load into a magazine. If you've played any WW2 games, you may have noticed a thin piece of metal that is discarded when you reload the rifles. That's the clip.
@YourFavoriteMrJАй бұрын
That’s true. Shotguns have a magazine tube, in example: the KSG usually has two. Glocks, Berettas, removable magazines. ArmaLite Rifles, AKs, any type of carbine or rifle; removable magazines. Bolt actions can usually have removable magazines, like the Lee Enfield, but they can be loaded with stripper clips. Good to see someone has proper gun knowledge.❤️

I remember there being an older WAD also called "The Hotel", but that was just a series of dark hallways with classic DooM doorways for the rooms (most of which were inaccessible. There were wandering apparitions that looked like Sadako from The Grudge. Not nearly as varied or as big as this one, however, but was still freaky with being nearly pitch-black, and looped the "Max's Nightmare" music from Max Payne in the background. Eventually you'd reach the room where an incantation supposedly took place, causing the spirits to appear. That particular was FILLED with a bunch of Sadakos. I think what freaked me out the most was how the apparitions screamed when they gave chase - the same scream as one of the bosses from the Ghouls World WADs from around the same time. An effective use of the sound of a panda cub sneezing to elicit sheer terror that I somewhat miss. This was an interesting WAD to look at, and would love to see more. I also enjoyed your commentary and humor, feeling very honest with your own fear, as I was merely a viewer but cringed in terror from just looking at all the hallways and how suddenly some of those creatures appeared. Excellent video. :)

The Crow is a good comic, but I'd highly recommand the movie adaptation. Incredible soundtrack, incredible atmosphere, one of my all time favorite villain, gothic as it can be, that movie came out before Matrix, Blade, X-Men or Underworld went with the "black leather trenchcoat underground style", The Crow was a film nearly half a decade ahead of schedule when you think about it. And it's a great statement about art and the loss of its meaning once it becomes an institution (funnily enough, a fate The Crow will have once the company will milk sequels with nothing to give aside from "a sequel from the awesome 1994 movie").

Here's a creepy tale taking place in a hotel by yours truly for all ya Doomheads; The Hilton Milwaukee City Center around Feburary and March are usually rammed with convention-goers for AMKE. They come in on Friday, party until Sunday, and then a few of them stick around, but most of them leave. Being a man with a girlfriend who lives in Milwaukee , who also happens to be obsessed with anime, asian culture, and video games, as am I, I make it an annual event that I keep on priority and am always present for. However, my last trip was... scary. It was Monday, going on Tuesday late at night. My beloved girlfriend had to pack up and leave our hotel room due to her school schedule requiring her to come in the following morning at 6 am. Driving from the hotel wouldve took too long, and I didn't want her to worry about not only going to school but also dropping me off at the airport, so my last night was spent alone. One thing she CONSTANTLY talked throughout my visit was about was the recent surge in crime as of late. She wouldn't even let me go for a walk to see around Milwaukee because she was that concerned. This can be chalked up to her being prone to overthinking as she as well as I have both been diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD, and we're both prone to overthinking. I didn't think much of it, until I helped her pack up, haul her belongings to her car, gave her a kiss goodbye, and went back into the hotel. Then it donned on me that I was all alone, in a place I have no idea about, full of strangers until 7 am for my flight. I began to walk the hallways of the hotel, feeling sad, tired, and isolated. I walked, exploring and familiarizing myself with the hotel's layout, until I looked at the time on my phone and realized that I have been moping around for nearly an hour and a half, now it was 2 am! I hastily made my way to one of the elevators and called it. I was on the second floor but my room was on the 9th, so It didnt take long for the elevator to reach me as it naturally goes down to the lobby after a few minutes of inactivity. I stepped into the elevator, pressing the 9th floor button. Howver upon doing so I couldn't help but recall what my girlfriend said about the recent uptick in crime. My mind began to race and came up with the worse. What if I was in *actual* danger? Just as soon as my thoughts picked up, they paused. As the elevator stopped to the... *5th* floor. It wasnt uncommon for the elevator to pick up other guests on its way up or down, but who the hell was walking around at 2;15 am? And why did it stop on the 5th floor in particular? It might be a mere coincidence, but when you tie in the fact that I lived on the 5th floor in my apartment building at home...It certainly adds a bit more flavor to this story. The door elevator opened as I made my best effort to look at the very least presentable, but to my surprise, when the antique door slid open... there was nobody. Not a soul. I even poked my head out to see if anyone maybe rung the elevator and decided to take the stairs, or maybe they didn't hear the door open, but nobody. I was met with the nigh-infinite hallway of featureless halls, just the same carpet pattern and same archetecture, going on and on and on and...on. The doors hung open for a moment, its unscentient mechanism awaiting for someone or something to exit or enter. However, after returning to my spot in the center of the elevator, I was still. And it felt like the air around me was too, for a moment. Then the doors slowly shut, and the elevator continued its intended path... But not until a moment passed, when the lights in the elevator suddenly blew out. Two of them, shrouding me in darkness. I felt a cold breeze envelop the back of my neck, like someone was breathing down it. In hindsight it was probably a coincidence, or it was just my mind making things up, but the combination of two paranormal occurances back to back made my heart nearly jump out of my chest as I began to panic. My head began to spin as I didn't realize what was in front of me or behind me, the ground shaking from the elevator moving, and my hands were invisible before me. I began to freak the fuck out. I was now banging on the elevator wall for it to let me out and away from whatever paranormal entity was in my presence. Eventually with a loud 'DING', The doors folded open and I nearly tripped out of the elevator. I didnt even glance behind me as I booked it down the hall to my room, slammed its keycard into the lock and flew inside... I didn't get much of a look down the hall I came from, and I couldn't tell if it was the lack of sleep causing my mind to play tricks on me, but I swear I saw a tall, black, shadowy figure wearing a broad, fedora-like hat, watching me scramble to piece myself together and lock the door. All locks. Top, middle, bottom to keep whatever was outside my room...outside. I hid under the bed of my hotel room, as corny as it sounds, I wasnt thinking straight, and was in the 'Flight' mode of Fight or Flight. Then, silence. A piercing, isolating silence. I think it goes without saying, I didn't sleep at all for the rest of the night.

My creepy hotel story was many years ago. I was getting ready to go to a LARP camp with my mom and we decided to sleep at a hotel/motel for a night. In the middle of the night I go and take a piss and while washing my hands a piece of what I can only describe as someone's lip or gums came swerling out of the drain. At fist I thought I was dreaming but after I touched it I was scared and freaked af out and went calling for my mom. She didn't believe me and didn't even bother to check until the same thing happened to her in the morning. We found more pieces of someones lips around the bathroom sink and toilet and we even looked at the corner of the walls to find what can only be described as blood. We got our stuff and go the hell out of there. We didn't call the cops cause who's gonna believe that and we thought that if it wasn't a granny who lost her fake teeth or something like that, then it was a murder. maybe even cover up by the motel itself. idk and I don't ever want to know. Also it proves that horror movies are right when someone tries to tell other characters that crazy stuff has happened and they don't believe them😂

I haven't ever had a bad hotel experience in terms of feeling unsafe or creeped out, but there was one hotel where the 'living room' light was motion activated, and I was sleeping in the pop-out bed. It would click on literally every time I rolled over. I tried going to the front desk to see if I could get someone to help and no maintenance people were available.

I didn't have any scary experiences in hotels, but I also grew up exposed to many many liminal spaces. However, I have had lots of fun experiences. My friends and I during college (we were living in a hotel waiting for the houses to have rooms ready) played hallway ninja and would have parties in different rooms. In the same hotel, some contractors who stayed there played a bunch of pranks on each other. I made friends with the overnight staff and they always snuck me extra cookies. In a different hotel, I got to walk my dogs on an empty unused road with only two street lights at night. It was so peaceful.

I hate when games make everything so dark, it's not scary it's more frustrating than anything else especially when there are enemies to deal with. I always end up cranking the brightness and contrast up so I'm not blindly firing off shots while being attacked lol. Great video as always Midnight! 👍👍

When I was working in a hotel as a night auditor, I had to do my rounds around the building to check that everything was tidy or ready for the next day. When I was in a large conference room (large enough to fit 300 individuals) I turned on the lights and checked every part of the room to make sure that everything was in order and nothing unusual was happening. After I went back to the switch to turn off the light, I hear loud footsteps in the other dark side of the room, as if someone was running, and then a loud slam as if the door closed. I immediately turned on the light and went to check the only doors that led to the extra chair and table closet. I found nothing that could’ve made that noise and just told myself that I should just move on and forget about everything that I just heard. Sometimes it’s better to just forget and keep moving on.

TBH I don’t really understand feeling “scared” by hotels, honest. I like on vacations when I’m staying in a hotel. Usually they’re nicer than my bedroom, gets cleaned, usually the bathroom is comfy and nice. It always feels like a bit of a comfy luxury to me rather than an uncertain transient moment, y’know? And a hotel is kinda nice because it’s somewhere you haven’t been before.

I forgot the name of the one I stayed in as a kid, but it was completely bought out years later. The night I stayed there with my parents, I had to go get some fresh ice for the room, so I set out into the completely empty and dimly lit hallways. On the other side, I could hear what sounded like crying. I passed by a wide open door and saw the cleaning equipment of one of the staff parked in front of it. The room was equally as dimly lit, but I made out an older staff member sitting in the edge of the bed, sobbing uncontrollably. I'm sure the circumstances were tragic, but the eerie, long hallway and the sobbing being the only thing I could hear wigged me out. I went back to the room and my Mom went to get the ice. I don't remember whether or not she went to check on her, but my Mom is big on tipping, especially hotel staff, since she had the same job about 40 years back.

Creepy hotel experiences: 1. When I was four, there was a hotel overseas that we were staying at, and the power started cutting out while my mother and I were in an elevator. The memory is foggy, but I remember the elevator stopping and starting at strange intervals, and it finally opened up on a floor that wasn't our own. To get to our room, we climbed so many flights of stairs in near-complete darkness. Because I was young, I had no idea what was going on, and it was unnerving. 2: I was a lot older this time, but there was a sudden bug infestation in our hotel room. We had just gotten settled in the room, but within a few minutes, a hundred or so flying ants started coming through the window's air conditioning unit. (I still don't know exactly where they came from, but it was around that area.) They seemed harmless, but there was just so many of them, and they landed everywhere, including in our luggage and on the walls. We managed to get a room change after talking to staff. Apparently, that wasn't the first incident of flying ants at that hotel; several rooms had issues with ants when it rained outside. I'm not sure if they were nesting in there or taking shelter from the rain, but whatever it was, it was spooky for sure. 3. On time, in a hotel, I was sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag. I woke up in the middle of the night, specifically after a nightmare involving roaches. I got up and went to the bathroom to pee before going back to bed, and as I was washing my hands, an actual, real-life cockroach crawled up my leg. I didn't really sleep after that. I used to think that the roach nightmare and the roach in the bathroom were somehow interconnected events, but in retrospect, it just seems like a really unlikely coincidence. 4. Not sure if this counts as creepy, but there was another overseas hotel that I stayed at with my family that had a shower right in the middle of the room - completely open to view, all four angles. (There was a thin mesh curtain on one side, but that was still see-through.) To make it worse, the shower was elevated up several steps up on a decorative rock-like formation, making that shower the highest point in the room. Maybe the hotel was meant as some sort of exotic resort for couples (although I did see other kids around), or maybe that was just the culture of the country I was in? Either way, we had to work around it by either wearing swimsuits (if we came from the pool) or stepping out for a while while someone else was taking a shower. Probably the oddest hotel I've stayed in, but definitely not the worst.

Not only are hotels uncomfortable because they're a place to sleep, yet aren't a home, most hotels are spaces where they benefit most from getting you in, and then right back out as soon as possible to turn the biggest profits. Many of them feel... just uncomfortable enough in that regard, unless you're staying in a resort with amenities. Not only are you exposed, you're being hit with a feeling of false welcoming.

Not me, but my mother. She used to work at the Mariott hotel in Lincoln Nebraska. She's had several paranormal encounters there, and if you've been there, you probably know. Her most dreadful feeling was when she was on the tenth floor, the elevator opens, with absolutely no one around. She decided that she'd take the stairs, down to the eighth floor (she had several jobs, and cleaning hotel rooms was one of them), and the elevator opens once again. Randomly. No one around, no one inside. She cleaned a couple rooms, went back out, and the elevator opens once again. Problem was that she actually had a cleaning cart on that floor, and not the seventh. She had to take the elevator, and not in all of her years of living had she felt more dread than that, and she's seen ghosts for over half of her life at that point

There's creepy lyrics in the end of The Eagles song - Hotel California: "Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax, ' said the night man, 'We are programmed to receive. You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!'" This reminded me of "Love hotel" from the movie "Enter the void" where the protagonist s soul s traveling that hotel in the end of the movie after he dies and finds a couple having time together to reincarnate as their child. Also "The shining" is ofc worth mentioning

Hey Midnight, have you ever played the Doom mod "La Tailor Girl"? It's not creepy or unsettling or anything, but it really changes how the game works. You play as a seamstress named Daina, and instead of giving you a huge arsenal like a lot of mods do, you have a standard weapon set, but the different outfits you find change how the weapons and you as a character handle. It's my favorite Doom mod ever, and I usually run it with Colorful Hell and some map pack.
