It's not necessarily the Superhero genre that has hurt Hollywood, it's the $200M budgets and their obsessiveness over billion dollar Box Office returns. When a movie needs to break a billion to be considered profitable, let alone be in the break even territory, there's a major issue.

Can't argue with you there. Hollywood is like a gambler taking their rent to Vegas. If they win, they will win big. They want the 2 billion dollar pay off that comes with a $350 million dollar block buster. Rule one should be "what can you reasonably expect the box office to be for a movie like this." Nothing wrong with that gay romcom last year if you expected it to make about $5 million at the box office. Your going to have to make it for about 1.5 million with 1 million in promotion to turn a profit. The movie cost $50 million to make. You have to make 2 tent pole movies a year and nothing else, and they have to be a success or make a bunch of movies that have budgets between $5 - $100 million. Based on what the likely box office will be.

They wanted insta-Marvel success, they didn't get it, so they messed around with a good but flawed formula and eventually made it an unrecognizable mess. The Batman was such a terrible movie! I hope they don't make a 2nd. And that they never again try to make a "grounded" Batman, because in both The Batman and the Nolan trilogy, what we got were movies about people cosplaying as Batman characters. And you guys don't understand that Batman must be, as Superman once said, the most dangerous man in the world, a super-genius and the greatest detective in the world. For Batman to work, he must be literally invincible, just like in the animated movie where he beats Darkseid by not only evading his omega beam, but by forcing him to surrender.

I can buy into the idea that Gunn would like to just cancel Reeves' Batman films, but, contractually, I highly doubt he can do that without exposing WB to legal action. Also, if Reeves' Batman series is actually cancelled, wouldn't Reeves know about it? Why is he pretending to still be working on it? Why would everyone involved be playacting as though it's going forward? What PR advantage is there?

You seem to be responding to the idea that the Reeves Batman series has been canceled, whereas my post argues it has not. Also, Mike Flanagan is the main creative for the Clayface project so I wouldn't expect Reeves to have much input.

Now, these other filmmakers won't be able to do anything that Reeves thinks will contradict what he wants to do, other than that, his input will be nada. As to Gunn saying.....pretty much anything....means nothing. If he hates Reeves with the heat of a thousand suns, he's never going to say that publicly. That's not how Hollywood works. Lying is how they operate. During all of the Zack Snyder/WB/Joss Whedon/Ben Affleck drama around Justice League and BvS (and later), literally everyone involved was lying to the public.

I hope they dump the whole Tom Holland Spiderman and just recast. Tom Holland and his girlfriend that he had no chemistry with were both cringe. Like in far from home when the mj character just randomly spouts out that slaves built the Washington monument which is an outright lie, It was built by the army core of engineers. They should recast with an American actor skip the origin story show uncle Ben death in a small flash back and just give us a real action packed down to earth spidey!

With DC, you can have a president Lex Luthor. The Daily Planet can have a bustling news floor instead of people bemoaning the death of print media. You can have fictional cities that are practically characters themselves. Literally in the case of Danny The Street of Doom Patrol.

I am sorry, but I will have to disagree with Andre about Steven S. DeKnight being the ideal showrunner for a Conan series. Back in the day I would have agreed completely, but since 2016 Mr. DeKnight has become super woke to the point where has told people that if they disagree with his political views, he doesn't want them as supporters of his work (and he doesn't care if it means zero people show up for his next show or movie). He also supports cancel culture; he was among those that wanted Joe Rogan taken off of Spotify, and he applauded Lucasfilm for the letting go of Gina Carano as Cara Dune in Star Wars. He also labeled Jenna Ortega as "toxic" and "entitled" because she disagreed with the writers and producers on Wednesday over the portrayal of the character.

Gotta be honest: Not a fan of the new intro. It sounds horrible and the vibe doesn't fit the semi-professional tone of the show, at all. It's an intro I could see World Class Bullshitters doing, but not a "slightly more professional" podcast like Midnight's Edge. I don't like it, to be honest. As for Batman, I have no faith left in James Gunn anymore after that Superman trailer and seeing Gunn being narcissistic enough to keep Peacemaker and his other old stuff from the Snyderverse. And Robin can work if they have him as a field assistant or taking down low-level petty thugs, instead of being an actual sidekick beating up guns with guns like they usually show Robin.
