Crazy to think that kpop was more controversial when the korean society was more conservative, meanwhile today, kpop is more conservative despite the korean society being more open minded. I was trying to think as to why and the only thing I can think of is how kpop is more global than ever now, meaning different sets of mentalities come together, and playing it safe is more profitable for all.
@XuiLeeEv Жыл бұрын
I wonder if it's also because of how KPop's role as representative of 'Korean culture' has been intentionally nurtured. This might give people who aren't interested in pop groups as fans more of a feeling of national ownership over groups and their behaviour.

Honestly, dancing like that in high heels is already a massive achievement as an individual- a group that has to practice for hours like that in complex choreographies has already transcended to a level far beyond what most people can imagine, even for Kpop groups.

Ooo I remember Eat Your Kimchi so well. When I first got into Kpop, Eat Your Kimchi got me into a lot of new Kpop acts and showed me a lot about Korean culture. For that they hold a special place in my heart.

omg thank you so much for making a video about n.o.m ! They are definitely one of kpop's most unique groups. To start with, they're a completely self-made group, with member JK being the boss of their company, they're all in their late 30's (which is sadly very uncommon in kpop specially nowadays) , they're tall af! the shortest member is around 1.83cm so imagine how HUGE they look while dancing in those heels lol and their music has that "underground dance club" vibe that nearly no other group is doing. Sadly we don't know if they will ever release more music, they've explained themselves that since they're so nugu and the cost of releasing content is so high, a comeback is a very difficult thing to achieve now, but nonetheless their music is still there so let's listen to it!

I was interested in this group when i was very active in the kpop fandom. i always wondered if they’d ever reappear, but i’m glad to know they not only have returned, but they have had a degree of success! Even if they have now split up, i’m happy they got some recognition.

It seems kinda unfair that they wore heels when they were already so tall lol. Also I feel bad for pretty much not following kpop much in 2013 cause I missed out on a lot and had to do a ton of catch up in 2014 when I got back into kpop. And most “nugu” groups aren’t able to do what these guys did so it feels good knowing what all they did. Loved the video!

So happy to see this video on N.O.M! I found out about them when Adrenaline came out and had my mind absolutely blown. I'm a huge fan of Taemin and this song just hit me so hard. I wound up sharing Adrenaline in one of my group chats and someone was immediately like "bless every single person who is a part of n.o.m including that man" and then linked me to Mega Punch. Absolutely love them all so much and I hope that we do get to see them again, and if not I hope they have only the best things happen to them.

I wouldnt say its suprising that the music videos were made 19+, i think any sexual explicit/undertoned video should be restricted from a childs view but the reason why this doesnt happen to female groups is because theyre happy exploiting women for their own benefit rather than men lol. They always try to push the agenda that women are sexy objects, and thats very clear in alot of MVs sadly

@Midnight Theories, I do remember N.O.M(Nature of Man) I like them! I remember watching that episode with the Men & V of BTS wearing the high heels! N.O.M I think that they were fantastic they were very talented and very innovated and they definitely had a very good concept! I might be dating myself here but back in the 70s there was an androgynous look ,both male and female wearing opposite gender clothing ,even men were wearing make up thanks to David Bowie he started that trend he even shaved off his eyebrows dyed his hair bright red, wore lipstick and eyeliner and eyeshadow wore high heels but we called them platform heels,they weren’t spiny heels like this group N.O.M ! but I also remember a rock band called the New York Dollz which they weren’t very attractive but they wore make up like a woman long flowing hair and they wore high heeled boots and leather Pants! It’s a shame that they weren’t treated the same way with respect as The other K-pop Male idol groups! And now you are seeing more changes in the K-pop industry they’re swearing 🤬in the MVs! they’re actually showed male relationships that were not platonic between two men I believe that; “Only One Of “ a K-pop male group had a storyline where there were same gender relationships amongst the members in their music videos! (Please correct me if I am wrong ) I Love this KZbin Channel I have recommended it to several of my friends! you always have very interesting topics on the K-pop world!👍💜🌹
@yokonamigaara Жыл бұрын
You're correct about OnlyOneOf, they've actually made several mvs with storylines of gay relationships! libidO was first, then skinz, then each of the 6 members had solo songs and the mvs were connected stories between them (Yoojung and KB make the first story, then Junji and Rie, then Mill and Nine). Their most recent release seOul drift isn't as heavy on the romance aspect but it's definitely still implied and one of the members is shown holding a rainbow flag bag in the mv 💜
@laurahilliker5336 Жыл бұрын
@yokonamigaara, thank you for verifying that I knew that there was that type of story line by “Only One Of” !😊 I do believe Kpop is starting to change , The conservativeness is starting to drop and being more open minded to other aspects in the music videos! 💜 ARMY Love!💜

Whilst I’m not a K-pop fan, I prefer the Korean underground scene, but this isn’t anything radical. David Bowie, Freddie Mercury , Sylvester, Monty Python and Jobriath were doing this back in the seventies. I’d have expected stuff like this to come from the underground, such as the Korean fetish, bdsm, goth or gay scenes. What’s the Korean underground scene like?

@GrimzyShake Жыл бұрын
There’s plenty of “subgroups” of people and fashion that include high heels on men… Berlin is pretty known for their fashion, music, etc. and I’m pretty sure Italy and France more “conservative” forms of heels are actually quite common. Might not be stilettos but, heels nevertheless. While it might not be the overall “norm” there’s actually a LOT of places in Europe that are known for their gender bending fashion.
