It’s crazy how well designed midra is from a no roll perspective, then you look at the abominations that are radahn or metyr

I mean, I don't think they even ever consider no roll when they're designing bosses. Which is fine really. And I know I'm saying this on a no roll video, so this is maybe a hard position to sell. I think it's unreasonable to have such a restrictive playstyle be something they have to think about, if they could just make something that makes use of way more mechanics. It's like wanting everything to be rollable even though attacks that spice up the combat by being precisely only jumpable add so much. Besides, whenever there's a boss (like Midra) that is satisfying to no roll it's probably partly because the niche strategies are hard to find and possibly unintentional. Take the fact that you have to/can duck the second swing of that one combo with the R2.

@@Sinhsseax They definitely don't design for no roll. Never have, yet all bosses until PCR have been no-rollable for extended periods of time. Several of the bosses in this DLC have moves that are undodgeable no roll as well, which was rarely the case before. I think it's just due to a minor change in design philosophy for this DLC, with them leaning more towards high tracking and flashy aoe moves

@@mouseinatutu Yes, I remember a friend of mine in particular pointing out that ER in general had much higher tracking than the other games and well Shadow of the Erdtree as its DLC only doubled down. A good comparison I recently saw is Artorias doing his triple flip versus Consort doing his double flip. Artorias has so little tracking on that, it was actually a bit sad how often he would miss it, when fighting someone with a bit more experience. And then there's Consort jumping with dronestrike precision. I can imagine though, that the giant traveling beams of light AoE after he rips his swords out in phase two is even worse for messing with no roll fights.

My dear Midra! I think it's humanly doable even in NG+7 +0 No blessings and blah blah blah (because I would like to try it, sooner or later) but the DLC bosses have HP that never ends which makes everything more tedious and stressful, imho.

Yeah, definitely doable. The only issues are walls and if he gets back up early after his big explosion move

@@mouseinatutu that only happens if he lands on the big ash pile in the middle of the arena that's a bit raised up from the floor afaik

@@witha1 You might be right. It's definitely happened to me in more locations than that, but it very well might have to do with raised terrain. Lots of little bumps spread around, particularly near the edges.

Huh, I haven't had that happen to me. Do you have to not poise break him, or does it persist even through one?

@@mouseinatutu I just kept on stance breaking him and looping the fight. I think what happened was that the poise breaks interrupted his phase change. He can't do his aoe divebomb immediately after stagger so he starts his combos instead where I quickly poise break him as he has no poise. Idk tho, it's just a theory.

Great video. Maybe I overlooked it, but I don't think the 5 hit frenzy flame swing combo appeared. Is it an issue at all and you have to pray to rng or is that doable no roll?

I think u forgot some things on the title: No Ashes of War, NG+7, Fist only (without Two-handed), No Talismans, Overloaded, Poisoned without healing, No Sprint, No Stance Damage/Break, No Summons, RL Negative 713 (-99 at very stat), No special effect gear, B2B on male and female character

Maybe some day at 20 blessings and with deflect tear, but yeah... The boss is horrendous for no roll. Insane tracking, giant AoE moves, projectile spam...
