"Yep never mind he's totally fucked" the sheer volume of style dripping off of Midst is near exhausting. It's emotionally filling in a way that is hard to describe except in likening it to eating food with MSG in it. I don't know if this comes across as a compliment, but it is meant as one.

I agree so much, i felt the same thing and couldn't describe it. You put it into perfect words!
@Imperial_Squid Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The narrative style being similar to three friends telling you a story that all each half remember, but they've all kinda organised how they're gonna tell it in advance is fucking *_fascinating_* I think it was in E2, there was a moment like "this is one of our main characters, you have already met another but we won't reveal who they are yet" "it's Lark" "we will reveal who they are, it's Lark" that moment instantly made me love this style 😍😂😁

I love the way these episodes spark images in my mind... from the first episode and continuing through each one... the mood.. the slow speaking.. the casual way it is delivered... so specifically casual.. then drama snaps around me like a trap of joy! Thank you for sharing this with us. :)

"...a month's supply of lightbulbs-" Now THAT'S horrifying!
@SolarSeaSlug Жыл бұрын
I adore the way the music is designed around Weep, especially how when Weep and Ms. Goldfinch start moving there's this jaunty percussive music, almost like a chase scene or something, to really emphasize the manic energy of this encounter. And the audio design when Goldfinch says "I suppose you didn't have any Loxlee brand lightbulbs when that happened to you" and everything kind of cuts out and gets very intense when Weep says "No" and the narrator is like "He sure as hell did NOT" then the jaunty symbols (snare?) start up again and they start moving once more. It's so subtle but I love it so much.

I love this narration style! It's so much fun when the narrator is an individual with their own foibles in how they tell the story, and opinions on the story, instead of just being a mouthpiece for the story. And having three of them telling the story together makes this so dynamic. Also, I'm curious, what has that beetle in their shopping bag...? ^^

For better or for worse, I'm getting very much vibes from Imelda similar to Desert Bluffs from Welcome to Nightvale. Maliciously helpful? Dangerously nice? Villianously charitable? I can't quite describe it but I love how the knowledge the moon will fall (and that Mr. Weepe is fucked) all stems from the fact that he ran into her on this day. I cannot wait to see how the threads come together

The moment they saw Fuze I was like "Jeez, is Weepe just gonna strangle him in the middle of the street??" My brain was like "Well, fuck it, Fuze is already basically dead if I trust the narrators (which I don't really but this thought comes all too fast). And maybe Weepe is so fucked up he's willing to kill an innocent person just to annoy this zealot 😂

This is just my opinion but I really like this show for a couple of reasons: 1. Narration is unique in comparison to most other content I have heard that is entirely audio. 2. The visuals and how they establish the world. 3. How the episodes build tension by introducing narrative threads and then leaving them to be later discussed, and how elements of the world and characters are introduced indirectly by saying “it’s not important but person X has a red glove, there is only one like it.” Then this element is slowly weaved back into the story again after being Introduced. 4. Lastly, I really like that the 3 narrators are unreliable. It makes the story intriguing when the ending is clear but the road to the ending is still shrouded in mystery. Thank you Midst!
