I don't vote economics first or second. No matter what. Other things are more permanent than whatever economic situation exists at the moment. Like democracy and freedom or lack thereof.

Economics go up and down, I'm not an economist, nor do I even follow a whole lot, but I feel as though that's what's used to shake US up, scare US, while the CLIMATE threatens everything

Absolutely. I just returned from North Carolina and gas prices are not too high. Further the President does not determine prices it is supply and demand. US doing best international

The people complaining about inflation were either not alive or too young to have experienced it years ago. It took a long time to "cure" it before. And that time there was no pandemic to impact it like now.

Thanks for this Katie. People like to blame Joe and the Dems - but this is a far more complex issue. Great information to be shared.

ThanksKatie. Jason is a terrific guest! I have a phd but usually lose track when economists talk, but as usual you chose a perfect expert to discuss the pertinent issues so we could track the conversation. I could even glance at my NBA game and still follow along! I learned a lot. Now ill read all the comments and when the game is over ill watch the discussion again. Thanks for your thoughtful fashioning of your programs!

People complain about gas prices.... Most drive SUVs, trucks and Crossovers. In other words: the biggest, thirstiest thing they can get their hands on. Oddly, one of the few things true for all class levels. People responded to pandemic by hoarding - everything. Without a care of the inflationary pressure this creates. The Prime rate at near 0% since 2008 create extreme demand for new housing. Why housing cost went out of sight. Leaving millions without much disposable income.

I completely disagree with your guest regarding student loans relief which helps the poorest of borrowers and the stimulus checks that was needed by many Americans to get food on the table and rent paid. Why hasn’t he mentioned the previous administration’s trillion and a half tax cut for the wealthiest ?

Not true, the good paying jobs or specific jobs such as in mortgage, lending, banking, etc -- I know many people in Texas are out of work. Yes, low paying jobs are available. You will see more tech jobs going away per Facebook and Twitter. So, not sure what bubble you live in nor is the Harvard Professor really understand what the normal person (not his buddies that have plenty of money) has to go thru. He (the Harvard Professor) needs to really see what is going on! The trucking system really???? We are running out of diesel.... you really don't know what is going on. Not true about the prices when we were Energy Independent 2 years ago. Plus Mr. Harvard Professor -- you have never visited a Corpus Christi Refinery-- or know anything about it. The government has regulated the hell out of the petroleum industry and this is why there is limited refineries in the USA. Maybe look at how many products are made from oil. Again, who would take your class is beyond me. Inflation is solved by raising the interest rates and reduce spending -- how stupid is this guy. Look back from the Reagan years.

@@niltomega2978 Gingrich is sometimes called the man who destroyed politics. He started republicans on many of the current tactics over 40 years ago. And he’s been advising trump since before he ran for office. His wife was given the cushy position of Ambassador to the Vatican by trump and Gingrich bragged about not having a bad meal since they’d arrived in Rome. Sorry, I’m starting to rant… that guy and his chimpanzee politics makes me cringe lol. Thanks for your reply Nitro. Have a good day/evening!
