Yeah Tim, go take a hike! 😂😂the last single blooper was the best😂 Are Mayapples considered ephermals?

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, mayapples are considered ephemerals. We've got some Chinese mayapples, Podophyllum pleianthum, popping up in the garden now, and they are absolutely lustrous!

Thanks to Tim and Blake for presenting this informative Spring Ephemerals, missed Wed. show caught up Friday. My Bloodroot shoots out seeds that grow into more plants, or are birds eating and pooping out someplace near? Katherine 'Kay' Nutt

Thanks for watching, Kay! Bloodroot seeds are actually dispersed by ants. The seed has a structure called an elaiosome which is rich in lipids and proteins and attracts ants. The ants take the seeds back to their nest where they eat the elaiosome and then discard the seeds in their trash heaps, whence germinate new plants.

There are hundreds of trout lillies at the Occoneechee mountain park off the Eno Mountain Road trailhead (Hillsborough, NC)

Occoneechee mountain is a cool park to hike in too. Highly recommended. The trout lilies are blooming everywhere as of this week. I've seen them at Duke Forest and Umstead forest too. Go see them soon. They'll be out of bloom before you know it in just a few weeks.

Grew up in NE Ohio. Live in central GA now. Missing the mayapples and the jack-in-the-pulpets. So many more spring flowers up north!

They grow here in Central Georgia. You usually can find them on the walking trails in the heavily wooded areas.
