Something I noticed about Cleetus. "Our" win, "Our" best run, "we're winning", "We did it", crediting the car, huge credit given to Kevin. Cleetus is the draw to this channel because of his overwhelmingly positive attitude and the fact he's willing to share everything he has with the people he cares about. Kevin has put a lot of hard work and long hours into building Cleetus a reliable (and reliably fast) car and Cleetus has made sure to point that out at every step. Once Mullet gets tuned to his final form, Mullet WILL run 6's in the 1/4 mile. I predict low 6's if they get him tuned perfectly. This car was built for 6's. Its just a matter of trial and error and finding out what works. Kevin is going to be flat out building cars for so many people. Everyone will be lining up to get 7 second street cars that are reliable and good looking machines.
@allanpolk26813 жыл бұрын
Yeah, after this there will probably be a four year waiting list for a full KSR build. Good for Kevin, he'll never run out of work. This is a classic example of : "Build it and they will come." Kev built Mullet for all the racing world to see... THEY WILL COME .
@kameljoe213 жыл бұрын
That may be true. Yet the cost to build that 7 second street car is going to be 250k easy if not more. Which is why you will almost always see on a few people ever win these events. Those with the most money have the means to win these events. Its great to see cleetus win yet he does take away from the real reason these events started. For people who could add some parts on their cars and race them. Not really to build out an entire car specifically for these events with pretty much unlimited budgets. It will not be long before we see or hear about a new car that is going to win the entire event overall. With him being the 5th/7th overall winner it wont be long before he start pushing for 6s and low 6s and then the 5s.
@allanpolk26813 жыл бұрын
@@kameljoe21 William, You are right about all you said. The only way racers can be truly competitive is to be independently wealthy, or have corporate sponsorship. This is the case for Cleetus, as he has both scenarios going for him. Cleetus makes quite a bit from his KZbin site, but now he is gained corporate sponsorship through Motion. Although he bought into the company, it will still go a long way toward financing his racing ventures. The drag week events used to be for mostly hobbyist and hottodders. Racing in any venue has always been costly, but in order to stay in the game you must have a strong support team, and that translates to bucks... BIG BUCKS. As you implied Cleetus will have to keep going deeper and deeper into the pursuit of speed, in order to stay in the mix. While Kevin may not get a long line of ground-up builds like Mullet in his shop, This exposure will surely bring him a modicum of business.
@kameljoe213 жыл бұрын
@@allanpolk2681 Yeah that is very true. Kevin will get quite a few people who will take their stuff to him. Even if its for small things. Those that watch his channel can see how he does some things and either pay him to build things out or buy parts or use source parts from him. | I think Kevin should become affiliate links to the things he uses the most. This is how a lot of people make good amounts of money. Because it looks like he uses a lot of the same parts and things he could help those DIY people support him in getting the same gear that he uses or tools that he uses. People really do like affiliate links because its another way to support KZbin channels they like. The views/ad payment are not always the best source of income. Merch sales are major parts of most channels. Yet these types of channels can benefit form affiliate links.

@@aquaticaddictions9902 I am putting the shoe on the other foot, just look at my user name. I have been involved in Motorsport for 40 years. 20 of them as an owner/driver. It’s not about whether he is paying him or not, nor is it about “giving” him free exposure. It’s about acknowledging his contribution to success. Sure, he could flip him an extra grand and say thanks buddy, but anyone can do that, and that money would likely be gone in less than a week. The trophy, however, is a tangible object. It’s a once in a lifetime thing. It’s something Kevin can share with the rest of the guys in his shop that also had a hand in the project. They can all look at with pride and say I had a hand in that. It’s something that says I succeeded because of you. Years ago, when I won a tractor pulling championship, I bought a duplicate trophy for each of my sponsors. I did it to show them they won that championship with me. It wasn’t something I had to do, but saying thanks for the help hardly seems like enough when you win. That’s all I’m trying to get at. It’s a gesture. It’s not required. And that’s what makes something like that special.
