One has to view the case as a whole, what evidence is there, what is the risk of re-offending it instead of just assuming guilt. The fact that there was a standoff should have invalidated any chance of bail ans there was clear expectation that he would no surrender peacefully.

The families and schools. The 17 year old's mother indefinitely. She supposedly drove her back and forth to school and watched her daughter, so she couldn’t have possibly been alone with this guy (if you pause the video, it's in the statements from the school investigation they did when she was 11). Her mother didn't question who it was that got her daughter pregnant? Where was this mother when her daughter was f’ing him in a hotel in front of his kids, and her grand child? So many were negligent.

⚠️When it comes to perverts who harm children, there always seem to be people in power who ‘mess things up’ for any eventual accountability! School principles or superintendents who ‘drop the ball’ Detectives or officers who ‘fail to follow up’ Judges who commit ‘constitutional errors’ I suspect this is an ad hoc effort by like-minded individuals to cover for each other! As if they see themselves in the accused and therefore pay it forward in the belief the favor will be returned should they find themselves in similar circumstances. It happens too often, that these perverts are allowed to offend again and again, escaping consequences 😡

So, in summary; He was originally arrested for raping 2 girls. Got released on 250k bail. Then killed the teen he had a baby with and then killed his wife at the school she worked at in front of his son. WOW. And all the prior allegations of misconduct with the teen were never followed through and the police kept him on the job and in a school. WOW. Just a sick situation all around.

Because law enforcement officers don't hold each other accountable. In their eyes, (from the top of the chain of command to the bottom) they do NO wrong because they are police officers with a badge, power tripping. They are perfect little Angels. @@TomasGerhardusSmith no, it isn’t. The judge decides bail amount/conditions of bail, usually on their first court appearance. There is no jury at that point. Most cases won’t even see a jury. I would recommend familiarizing yourself with how court processes go, because you’ve been very misguided in the information you’ve received. There’s an article on how courts work on the American Bar Association website.

I agree there are certain crimes or charges that are so dire that no amount of bail is acceptable, especially here where his wife had sent written warnings about his behaviour. But we have cases like this in the UK as well where various departments or teams fail to communicate and while with hindsight you can see how dangerous a person was at the time they fall through the cracks in the system. Its horribly unfair but I doubt it will ever be eradicated, no matter how good your teams of people and systems are.

So you have to understand, and I'm speaking as a cop.. They can't know that he's a danger to them and lock him up over it to keep them safe. Even if it's something obvious there's just nothing in the legal system we can do when someone is a "potential" risk to someone else, and how could they fairly do that?. If the crime hasn't happened yet (murder in this case, 2x) we can't lock them up over it, as sh*tty as it is. (I'm not talking about his pedo crimes he should've stayed locked up on that one, but thats our justice system) It sucks but they can't predict that he's going to kill them. I had a friend when I was in the military, she was a great person, type of person everyone loved, super happy, fun to be around and accepting/welcoming of everyone, and she had a beautiful little 7 year old girl with another dude in the military who hopefully is rotting in hell. They were divorcing and he went to her hotel room, where another guy was as well for the purpose of helping her move, he shot her to death, the guy, then himself. In domestic situations I respond to where I explain the Ex-Parte process (That's the restraining order in Missouri) I always tell them that YES we can arrest them if they violate it but I always re-iterate so many times that it is JUST a PIECE OF PAPER and if he/she shows up and violates it we still have to respond to get there. I tell them that it's a great tool to have but if things turn violent it will not protect you the way a gun will. Basically me trying to say please arm yourself so you don't get hurt and made a victim by your significant other because you don't deserve to go through that. Unfortunately it falls on deaf ears a lot of the time, I can't tell you how many times I've responded to the same domestic where one party (Lets be real, typically male suspect, female victim) has been beaten and they beg not to arrest their spouse. Well too bad he's gonna face consequences for his actions because luckily in the state of MIssouri (and most states, I think) domestics are the only crime where if the victim doesn't want to pursue charges we can still take the suspect to jail and the State of Missouri picks it up as the victim, which is just an excellent thing.

No the stats don't show that, hence why they are regularly released on bond. @@Just_selenefrom personal experience.. they can only do what they can do in some cases. If you make allegations and try someone too soon, especially with a victim who doesn't cooperate, it can result in them getting off, not being able to be retried, defense against future allegations.. I'm not saying thats the case here, just something to think about when it seems nothing is being done. Unfortunately sometimes they just have to wait until something bad happens. A legal system that was meant to protect us also protects sus'pects.. innocent until proven guilty.. which is a good thing for the most part but also can end up benefitting crimi'nals as well. There's really no good way to do it otherwise, that I can think of anyway. You want to protect the innocent, make sure people have rights, it just also can be taken advantage of as well. Sadly.

As an Oregonian, I’m so proud of our professional law enforcement officials, and completely baffled and disappointed by our judicial system. He should never have been let out on bail.

When the justice system says "circumcision is legal" then you can surmise that child molestation is one of their goals

Bail bonds. They front the money to get you out, but they charge 10% of the originally amount as a down payment. So he only had to pay 25k to get out of jail, with paying a bail bondsman the rest amount owed as monthly payments.

Sadly, this is an all too common charge and bond is pretty low. It has nothing to do with him being LE. Saw this everyday working at the courthouse. Bonds should not be allowed for predators.

I’m assuming you meant police department he worked for.., on that I absolutely agree. The LEO’s on this case was outstanding, IMO The school system failed, and others who clearly were aware he had problems for years. Sweep that dirtbag under the rug!!! Ignored. Only to continue his debauchy. SICK as eff! Many people are to blame on this. Thankful he didn’t take the innocent baby in the process.!🙏🏼 Now, he’ll answer to THE power that counts, and WILL mete out the justice. Our Lord lost another soul, and Satan has another dance partner to create more havoc. 😡😵‍💫😢

Prayers to the infant and the other children who lost both parents today. And extra prayers to the child who had to watch as his father killed his mother in the school. I hope that all these children has strong support systems and family to get them through this. As as oregonian, this was an extremely tense day. All i saw on facebook and reddit was about finding this bastard. Everyone i know agrees that we are happy with the final decision he decided to make with his life.
