Hi! Thanks for this, it's great. One thing though about the noise reduction. Noise isn't only a thing that's there in production (so as you said: if you don't light your image, it's gonna be grainy). But noise also arises while compressing, that's why they have the noise reduction :) Have great day!

Could you reexplain a little bit of what you are saying around 16:10 ? I tried rewatching this segment on compression several times and I'm still not sure what you are trying to say haha Maybe I don't know lingo words, but it just didn't make sense to me. What I've been doing is rendering from Davinci in as close to the original format as possible (usually Pro Res). I would then bring that into Adobe Premiere... thoughts?

+Arnaud van Loo I don't know if this helps, but if you hover your cursor over the image and then scroll your mouse wheel in or out, it zooms in or out. I find the best compromise between size, quality and compatability in davinci resolve (im using v.14) is mp4. With the software I end up using the .mov container, but as long as the format is mp4 it works like a charm...fast, good quality as long as you don't recompress over and over. The final format can be h264 to upload to youtube, but h264 is not great for working inside of davinci. (dnxhd...and the others are just way to big of files).

@XSquibX10 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this is helpful to you at all, but I have a 2014 mbp retina (as I assume you do) and I had a really annoying time setting up davinci. I just installed it today.. The issue is with the sizing of everything. The program was essentially unusable with my screen's resolution set to anything other than the max resolution. If it was anything other than the max resolution, the program hung off the sides of the screen, which was only fixable by fiddling with some silly settings. However, that only let me resize the program to fit my screen, but then everything inside the program was still oversized. areas in the program were hidden because they didn't fit and all that was there was extremely huge and annoyingly, I wasn't able to resize it. I changed my resolution to the max size and it seems to have fixed everything. Moral of story: only use max resolution on your retina when using Resolve.
@XSquibX10 жыл бұрын
ps: some things are still annoyingly large and the size is unchangeable, but no features seem to be hidden when in max resolution.

@Miesnermedia10 жыл бұрын
Great question Winston, I'm glad that you asked! To me it was a material personification of the dualistic struggle between being and the consciousness of being specifically exploring the possibility of a self nihilation in the relation of the "is" and the consciousness of "is". There is also a clear undertone of the psycho-phenomenological-parallelism a needs hierarchy, but that is really more of a subset of the overall act of minimalist expression. -Theo

Need your thoughts: Picked up your great workflow Tips. Q: When Exporting to High Quality Back to Premiere OR FCPX, What Render settings would you choose? Let's say I use 5D Mark II camera that Recordings were 1856 x 790 24fps? Should you choose QuickTime ProRes 422(HQ) Or Tiffs Or QuickTime RGB 8b OR DNxHD 720p xxxxxNumbers I'm not even sure which one to choose from? What are the differences? Please Note: My Target location of video is only Web to Vimeo or KZbin. So I only shoot at 24fps or 25fps PAL. Further, At what point do you integrate After Effects into your pipeline workflow? Do you use Dynamic linking for that? Also, If you ARE going to use AE for final touch up, Do you mainly Export for web from this application instead of Premiere? Thanks Awaiting for your thoughts and suggestions.
@Miesnermedia10 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I typically choose DNxHD 8bit 175 for my export settings. Since you are delivering for web I would recommend QuickTime RGB 8b. You can then render with your interesting pixel dimensions. The differences in the codecs are kind something that I would recommend testing for yourself, but pretty much when you get something that works well for you you stick with it. Especially if it isn't your final render and you are shooting with the same camera. For the web workflow you should re import your exported clip from resolve into premiere or FCPX and use that for your final render since resolve's lossy compression renders (h.264 and mpeg which are what you want to upload) are garbage. Then also you can have your graphics and mixed audio in premiere and don't have to deal with them in resolve. For the After Effects workflow I render out from AE and bring that into premiere (i am not a huge fan of dynamic linking for visual effects and when i do mograph stuff i don't want those to clutter my color workflow) then export my xml of the locked edit from premiere into resolve. Soon I will have a whole series where I go through a real world music video project that covers editing, some small visual effects, coloring, and graphics. That will have my entire workflow covered. All the tutorials are recorded and I am just waiting for the agency to release the music video before I upload the tutorials so be sure to subscribe in order to be able to get your questions answered in depth. Thanks! Theo
