I like heroes IV better than Heroes III because you get the hero to fight also, with the right built and artifacts, a single hero can slay thousands of black dragon. Heroes III is all about logistic, as long as you have town portal spell or fly, than that is it, victory is at hand.

Right after release it was pretty much early beta with players working for free as testers. Heroes 5 was bad at start too, but not that bad. Pity, really. It's not a bad game but it needs some time to grow on player. I am quite open-minded and I never called any Heroes game crap, there was always some unique element or specific vision followed by developers and it's no different this time. Too bad executive meddling always gets in way.

There is a tutorial mission and links to three turorial vids that are actually helpful. I like the combat animations. They're not overly-fancy by today's standards, but they are nice and fun. I'm about an hour into Sylvan campaign and it's really fun so far. Been playing since HOMM III.

It's not really sparking any interest. I loved the epic combat cinematics Heroes 6 had, but gameplay wise, Heroes 5 is my personal favorite. I kinda wish they would take what they had in Heroes 5 and build upon that. Also, it feels like there are a lot less factions to choose from now. Where did the demons go? Conclusion: From what i've played in the series, Heroes 5 has more to offer than these newer games, which is a shame cause i really want a new Heroes game that sparks my interest

Heroes 2 and 3 had that cartoon type look. Hexagon movement on battlefields and honestly you cant replace the music which was absolutely on point. Bring that feel back without making it into nickelodeon ninja turtles graphics and back to the 90s look and it would be well recieved.

I was kind of in the sceptical mood, when I decided to watch a bit of let's play for heroes 7. But honestly, I just don't get what many people are upset about. I think that almost every feature in this game feels right to me, starting with graphics and continuing to battles and actual gameplay. The only thing which I would like to see improved - is expanding on the ideas, which are already in the game and bring more content... Which sadly is never going to happen. But really, if for example Civ6 deserves all of that praise it gets from critics, then this should be an example of how the popular series should be continued...

This just looks laughable. All my worst fears turned out to be completely true. Exactly the same issues as with VI. The Game-breaking bugs that mh6 faced during launch have still not been patched btw and, by the looks of things, never will be. So I'm not exactly hopeful about 7. And they honestly expected people to actually pre-order the game. What a joke. The camera spinning around that mission table and focusing o those crude 3D character models was just hilarious btw.

I have played a lot of heroes of might and magic over the years, but there is one thing that i do not understand - why do they insist on having the town level system? You know the system where you have to have built a certain amount of buildings before you can build "advanced" building. In heroes 3 only some buildings required other building to be built beforehand - the limiting factor was really your economy. In my opinion this opens up a lot of interesting rush-something-strategies and diffrent playstyles within one faction. So why do they decide to limit you like this? Am i missing something?

Considering playing MAM7 in 2019 because I love III and IV. Dialogue involving whining about 'not wanting to be king' makes me think this must have inspired D&D when writing Game of Thrones Season 8. However, the fact it's similar to the older games is a plus - updated graphics, mechanics and hopefully semi-competent AI compared to IV. Is it worth it?

I tried Heroes of M&M #1 years ago and just couldn't get into it, looking at this, sure it looks much better, but i think id be stretching myself a little too far to get or play this. its just me, cant seem to get into strategy games much except maybe modern day military.. "Military Madness" was great . But I prefer FPS RPGs etc. with ancient/ medieval scenarios etc.

The one thing i find homm3 lacking is maps :D kinda played all the in-game maps. I did make a few (2-3) a while back, but i can't find the time nor the creative desire to make others. Tried searching online for a few, but they either have bugs or look like a 8y old made them. Did like about 3 of what i tried ^_^. how do terrain stats work? if a fight is in the forest for example wouldn't both sides be under the exact same conditions? unless you mean certain troops having advantages in certain terrain like elves get a bonus in woods, dwarves in mountains etc. not trying to be rude just saying stuff

+starark It goes much further than that. Almost every tile has slightly different stats boosting any number of possible things. Like evasion, movement, damage dealing, damage reduction, accuracy reduction, elemental buff, defense buff, trap, heal just all sorts of things basically. The idea is to add strategy to how you move and where you move to and to give weaker units a chance to survive against stronger ones by buffing or debuffing this or that stat. For instance hiding melee units in vegetation to reduce the damage taken from an archer's volley. Or weaker units hiding in vegetation to reduce the damage taken from a retaliating stronger unit. Perhaps open terrain increasing accuracy and movement speed but also hampering evasion. Just all sorts of things basically, I don't know what would be most balanced but I know there is a lot of missing potential here.

although they reinvented many things from heroes 3 its just not that good. If you look at the gameplay itself there are not many things that really changed since heroes 3. But every time they try something they mess it up and that that ruins the whole game. For example they made 2d town screens which was always a thing I wanted back but they look so bad, just too simple not much detail. And that's another point why heroes 3 will always be better. the game design was unique, and I love how every creature looked. Not only because it was the design from mm7+8 but it just looked amazing. Heroes 4 was fun too but the weird battle camera was stupid, some creatures looked awful and you couldn't upgrade them. I think there's no reason to continue making heroes games.

Yes there is; they could do a real 2D successor of 3 or 5 with more of the hero elements from 4 and/or better scenario-design tools (as that's about the only thing lacking in HoMM 5 with the 5.5 mod imho) They could even make a Fallout - HOMM 4 crossover RTS game, or make a new Dark Messiah of HoMM, either 1st or 3rd party FPS or use it as a single-player DLC / expansion story for an existing HOMM game. And that's just a 2s braindump ... Come on man, there is still so much potential, but the M&M Heroes series (6 and 7) are just lacking ever since :(

Cut scenes in homm3 was awesome! Looks like fantasy, not a Hollywood production. The old artstyle is what made homm great. Its chess with nice looking art. Now it looks like f@cking wow. Tutorial? Its a simple strategy game (simple in how to learn). If people do not understand how to play it, they are 1 to stupid 2 ADHD or 3 simply not a strategy player. Yes its all about making money for the devs, but there is also some honor.
