Hi Everyone! Check out our official Calendar Blanket Website Page : jaydainstitches.com/calendar-blankets.php February may not look as long as January...UNTIL you add the border and start joining, then it all works out. Having said that, if you have some seriously crazy tension issues (for example, you're mixing yarn weights), here are some Fixes 1. Blocking. Lightly steam block the tighter strips before adding borders for ease of joining. 2. Adding more rows. This is an option, but it requires more work when it comes to the border. We want the number of stitches in each border row to be the same along the sides so that we can join them without any trouble. In this case, if you are adding more rows to make something size up, you'll have to evenly space out the dc stitches along the side, making sure they match the number along the first strip. 3. Changing up the hook size. This is the easiest option! If you find that your gauge is off from the first strip, then you can adjust your hook size. If your gauge is tighter (smaller stitches) go up a hook size or 2 until your stitches match. If your gauge is looser (bigger stitches) go down a hook size or 2 until your stitches are smaller and match. When you get to adding the border on this strip, you will want to return to the original hook size so it matches the other strip. REMEMBER adding the border will stretch out OR shrink your pattern stitch to match the other strips, so don't fret if your gauge is off by a little Stitch Guides for this Pattern are available in our Etsy Shop - www.etsy.com/ca/shop/JaydaInStitches

Hi Jayda, In the January one you said do 77 and now in this one you're saying to do 78. Why is it different from what you said for January's video? I'm confused now? I really don't want to mess this up considering I'm making 6 of these blankets all at the same time. Can you please clarify this for me before I begin this because I really don't want to mess this up please and thank you so very much for your help.

Good point. I was wondering that also. Ok, I went back and looked at my notes for the first strip. It DOES have 78 rows.

I am so excited! Made my January strip right after I watched last month, and will make this one tonight. I have a log created of the colors I’m going to use for each month. January blue strip and white border. February red with pink border, March dark green with light green border, etc. Am making little appliqués for each one too. January snowflakes, February hearts, March shamrocks, etc. This will make it so easy to have a blanket done at the end of the year. I have other CALs that I haven’t even started yet because it seems a bit overwhelming. Thank you so much for this.😃❤️

I’ve been watching Jayda since nearly the start of her channel almost 6 years ago. Trust in her. What I learned when I’m crocheting or just crafting in general is to be patient with myself but to remind myself it’s supposed to be enjoyable. Don’t take things too seriously. Go with the flow of things. Yes you want a nicely finished project but you want to enjoy the process! Stick with Jayda and I bet by the time your done with this blanket you will be 100 times more confident in yourself ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’m a newer crocheter and made the first strip easily. This second one was easy as well but I did the required number of stitches and it seemed too short - shorter than January’s strip. But when you go to put the edge on and attach it to January’s strip the new one does stretch! So even though it seems too short, when you do February’s strip mind the stitch count!!

I am taking the last week pattern and making bookmarks with just Cotton brand yarn from dollar tree. It has 85% cotton 15% poly so doesn’t make a good pot holder. It does, however make a great bookmark with a small E or F hook. Thank you for helping us learn something simple that looks quite complicated. I have a suggestion for those who are trying to decide colors for the mile a minute blanket we are doing here. I have some yarn that I am using that changes color as it is worked, it is kind of live variegated but in one color. It starts off with one shade like a dark color and then goes into lighter shades and then back to dark. For example I used Blue Tiful for Jan and I am using Fiusha for Feb. the color changes it does reminds me of how the weather changes through out the month. They are both Red Heart, Super Savor, Ombre. I love the mile a minute that you are doing. I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you

This is a super fun project and I am looking forward to the whole year. One comment, I found I had to go up a hook size for the v stitch to match the first strip. I checked my tension and yarn, I even grabbed some yarn from the first color strip to see if it was the yarn. They are all 4 worsted weight and from the same company. For whatever reason, this stitch works up tight for me. The shell stitch to join them was fine on the I Hook. Just had to use a J hook for the V stitch. Someone may have the same issue I did with the v stitch and just wanted to put it out there.

Jayda, I finished the February strip. It did stretch out to fit, but afterwards the V-stitch pattern LOOKED stretched, and not in a good way. The border and joining helped, but it just didn't look as relaxed as your example. Should I redo the strip with a larger hook? EDIT: When I rolled up the two joined strips to put away, I could see how the V-strip side curled up and didn't lie flat like yours. After looking at it for a day I felt my strip was just too short and tight for it to work, even with the correct number of rows. So I decided to redo it. I used a Size K hook instead of my original Size I hook. It worked out much better. The strip was more relaxed looking. I went back to the Size I hook to join the strips.
@JaydaInStitches3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue! Changing up your hook size is a fine way to deal with gauge (we haev a pinned comment talking about it above), however the join will sort things out and we always block our blankets at the end to get them to "ease" where they need to...so don't fret the tension too much 💗

Thank you for making THIS jayg border easy to understand. I started a CAL with someone else years ago with jayg granny squares. I still have nightmares and have not finished that blanket (didn't even get 8 squares done!) and can't even bear to touch it to rip it apart and reuse the yarn.

Oh so do love this CAL, I wanted to make this blanket with all of the dollar store yarn, I have January and February's completed, now I'm bummed 😓, I enjoyed these two strips so much I just wanted to keep going lol. So January and February strip have been completed I have three blankets started, keeping track of how many skeins it will take to make these. So far I have three empty ball bands. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this awesome CAL. Can hardly wait for March, chomping at the bit.😂😂😂😂💞💞💞💞

I just want to point out that my V stitches strip was much shorter than the the first January strip. I counted and recounted, and I almost gave up. But, as I started doing the three stitches in every space everything was pulled to the right size! Uff, so glad! Thank you, Jayda, for this awesome project ❤️
@ellenrose25333 жыл бұрын
I found exactly the same, now I'm one set short, going to fudge it by adding a row at the wrong end...hopefully it will stretch. Updated comment,.. Someone said increase your hook size. I'm going to undo mine and redo that. It just isn't sitting right..
@lisadonis6973 жыл бұрын
@@ellenrose2533 Hi Ellen! As long as you have the correct amount of rows on the v-stitches and the first cake of January, it will stretch while you are adding the three dcs in each space. :)

Hi again Jayda. I did it, I learned the join as you go method, you are amazing. Only thing is that I SC instead of slip stitching in the spaces but it looks great so I think I probably need to do that when I join the rest. I'm so excited

Hi Michelle, that's great! SC is fine too, you might want to stick with that throughout the blanket for consistency 😊
