Great video! Bonus to have a warbonnet in the consist. Only thing that could have made this better would have been a lashup of DGRW SD40T-2s pulling the grade. Thank you!

There was a time when all you could hope for was a glance from the side of a roadway to see and understand the workings of a railroad. What a difference the drones make.

You have the right to be proud of this video. You've really outdone yourself. I like your choice of background music for this one because it brings out the majesty of the landscape. I wonder if the train engineers get tired of it. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

One of the best subscriptions on KZbin. These videos should be kept forever. I wonder if the people who originally surveyed this line knew of the beauty they were creating.
You smacked a grand slam with this one ... tremendous photography AND music. Many many thanks!!

My family is from Richfield on the old Marysvale Branch that left the main at Thistle. Back in 83 dad took us up there to see the damage from the slide and flood. It was freakin wild! The first twenty miles of the branch was destroyed and I think dad cried because it was all too clear that they would never rebuild. I have a lot of fond memories of chasing trains on Soldier. The good news is, it sure seems that traffic levels have picked up in the couple years. The best train I saw lately was an eastbound BNSF with six units and four cars. Talk about over powered!
@TheRailfanDan8 ай бұрын
Wow I bet that was a wild sight! A shame indeed too. I can understand why your dad would be upset. Ha yeah that is a bit overpowered!

Dear Railfan Dan...Brilliant Work. !!! your idea to turn 180 degrees at 2:41 was awesome...at 4:11 you pull a balanced field...your excellent control of the Phantom 4 Pro at 7:00 is clearly evident...at 10:23 the highway shot is great...at 10:51 the tunnel exit, cool and at 15:00 the full visual stretch is impressive...Your choice of music is a great match for this video, as it pulls you into your work...listening to this with the audio off, well then , it's just Brilliant work..thank you again for sharing.

Awesome!!! I loved making that drive. Used to take it from SLC to Monument Valley. That last stretch into Helper/Price is stunning. So cool to see that all (especially the loops) through that POV. Thank you covering that. Echo Canyon down to Mountain Green and out through Weber Canyon in Ogden is wild too if you can get up that way on the UP Transcon.

I spent a couple summers working at Crater Lake Lodge, so I always appreciate your fine aerial photography of the Northwest. I'm really pleased to see you getting closer to Denver which I used to call home. I'm hoping you may continue in that direction. Maybe even to Arizona where I also worked for several years at the Grand Canyon. I haven't been able to find much aerial railfanning in those areas.

At least I'm glad that there's still some trains over Utah's Soldier Summit in the form of BNSF and Utah Railway, if not for Union Pacific who still owns and operates the line. I'm currently on MSTS Train Simulator doing Utah's Soldier Summit with a stacker from Union Pacific with Southern Pacific heritage units.
@wizardofodds82394 жыл бұрын
Me too, Scooby. I've spent a lot of time scouting Soldier Summit's trains. The U.P. currently (2020) owns the railroad right-of-way and infrastructure. BNSF and Utah Railway have trackage rights.

Train man Dan used phantom 4 Drone to record this awesome video of solder summit. I plan on using some of this as inspiration, and influence for part the building of my Model Railroad. It is rear to see double track main passing over the Rocky Mountain Range. However, in Castle gate and Soldier Summit that is what you have, setting up for fantastic meets of two trains going in the opposite direction. Dan your the best at this, keep up the great work, and maybe you could film over Castle Gate.
