I love this series and I'm watching it from the start. I played at launch and left after a year or so. Came back 2 months ago and while I know a lot, I didn't know the new maps, DLC etc. What I love in these videos is the small bits of really amazing information and tips. What struck me the most here is at about 7:00. "Play the game". While people are standing around waiting, kill stuff, loot, harvest. I took this to heart and while my guild was waiting around in the Guild Hall to start missions, I finished the stampede dailies, then I soloed a Champion in Fields of Ruin while guild was waiting in the town for bounty reset. Then I looted all the Rich Iron Ore in Brisban Wildlands and killed a Champion Bandit while guild was taking a bio break/giving explanations to a puzzle I already knew. I didn't miss anything in the Guild Missions, was on time and active all along, but I got much more loot and gold by being active during downtimes. Thanks Teapot!

I've been playing the game solo, with very minimal guild time, for a couple years off and on, but watching you do the walk through gave me a good bit of information that I somehow missed. As you say, there is just so much going on in GW2 that it is easy to miss a ton of it, even if you play regularly. thanks

Dude really just told new players to pick Amalgamated Gemstone over Pilfered Exalted Remnants... Sure one gemstone could be worth 80s, but the gold you get from selling off all the loot from the extra chests you can open with the 12 Exalted keys the Pilfered Exalted Remnant give you is a way better choice(again for a NEW player who cannot just buy keys). IMO

Don't forget to list your items as well. You'd be surprised just how quickly things sell in this game, like it's often almost as fast as selling to buy orders depending on the item.

Note for the new players: meta events usually spawn a few more, up to twice more, chests than you get keys from meta event completion. This is to incentivize you playing on that map outside of the meta event, doing pre-events, etc. The frugal player can do these events to get the keys for free, but it is also generally good value to buy cheap keys off the map's special currency vendor. Seeing chests that you can't open = no good!

This is a really good series for relatively experienced players who could want to efficiently build a account from zero, considering expansions bought, or even returning players. Besides that, it is just some entertaining, but DEFINITELY not a newplayer's base guide

I had a question, would you be interested in making a video going over the top few metas like pinata that have really rare and valuable items on their drop tables? I'd love to incorporate a little routine to do daily with the chance of getting rich, but I've spent 9 years in pvp and wvw and don't know much about this side of the game.

When do you Salvage items vs Selling items?

As a general rule, if you are not at max magic find (300%), then it is often worth it to open unidentified gear (blue, green and yellow) and then salvage it. Selling any mats you get, unless you need them soon. If you have max magic find, then the profit from opening and salvaging unidentified gear compared to simply instantly selling the unid's is marginal. So for the wast majority of players it is simply faster and easier to just sell the unid's. Any gear that drops that is not unid's is harder, for rares I sell anything worth 20+ silver on TP and salvage the rest. But that is a soft number and simply what works for me. exotics I more or less always sell. It also depends on "you". How mush do you care about optimizing, is it okay to lose a tiny bit of gold to get back to playing or?

@@Varundin You can get magic find from 3 different places. 1) Achievement points, every 500 achievement points you get give you a small (or big) chest. Some of them also give you 1-2% magic find. 2) Luck, you get luck from salvaging weapons/armor/ectoplasm + random places. You can consume this luck to slowly get higher magic find. The higher magic find you have, the more luck you need to get the next 1%. This kind of magic find is capped at 300%. You can check you magic find from luck by pressing h (hero panel), in the left side pressing on achievements and then in the right side mouse over your magic find %. 3) food/utility/banners/guild buff/boosters Total magic find (mf) is capped at 750%, but you will rarely hit the cap. And you generally always want the highest mf you can get. It only provide benefits. For a full list of all foods etc. that provide mf, type "/magic find" in gw2 chat and it will open the wiki for magic find. This works with close to everything in gw2 :) Also welcome to gw2 :)

Not gonna lie, getting that boost ruined this a bit for me, meant to be "played the story and just finished" pov, well you will not have full cele gear, so kind of skipped a massive bit that new players might struggle with, getting that first gear set, also the TP to a friend stuff on the first ep was kind of scuffed as well, but i guess if you "did " the story you'd have these places unlocked. may as well have just made guides on best metas to do when fresh 80 and looking for gold and prog. But as far as content, its fun to watch, definitely not a guide for fresh accounts.

It's also hard to go completely wrong with cele gear, vs gear you might get as drops or from vendors. Had a new player in WvW recently join our guild who's gear was a complete mish mash of stats so we had a discusion with them and worked out a build and some basic gear for them. They could probaly have farmed the few gold required to buy it themselves in a few days, but a big thing I find is when you've got such limited resources, finding a build that matches how you like to play is the harder puzzle. I can see a lot of new players looking up a build, farming up the gold for the gear, then completely not liking the build...

The episodes will flow, probably not quite daily as it takes a good chunk of time to boil a stream down into a more digestible format but don't worry I'm looking to get an episode out every 2-3 days! It's quite the series too, it'll take me around 6 months to a year to get to a good spot!
