Hip Hop jewelry is based on it's "bling" value and not on it's actual worth. Most of this jewelry and most of the buyers are not aware of gemological qualities and values and are paying for visual presence and often more specifically brand name. 200 carats of small bad diamonds might look really shining in a piece of gold jewelry, but that doesn't mean you have a piece worth a 200 carat diamond. That is the lie of the diamond industry and the commercial jewelers selling "bling". Now, hip hop jewelry might be it's own art form, but it's own stereotype preys, again, on uneducated jewelry buyers who don't understand that "brand and bling" is just another %500 mark up on less valuable product.

"When you’re wearing diamonds, it’s like a big f-you to everybody” Never saw it this way. I saw it as an extension of "I never had money and this is what rich people do right?" I wear jewelry, but it's subtle. To each their own but all I see when folks flaunt gold and diamonds like this is you are new to the concept of having cash so you're buying things to impress others as opposed to making yourself happy.

What if Gerrymandering wasn't exploited to put Minorities in the worst locations and keep it that way for generations to come.... But we will never know. I don't care what anyone says, if your whole family tree was systematically oppressed for centuries and in some ways are being oppressed STILL - hell fucking yeah you're going to flaunt your riches. Especially when the very system you live in was made to keep you from succeeding. Just like all them old dudes with Powdered wigs: It was a status symbol. And I'm all for wearing diamonds and flashy chains, Especially if you're rich enough to wear dope chains and still set up your family for generational wealth. Everyone has their way of showing status

"it’s like a big f-you to everybody” lol a statement like that just shows how individuals look at things, that perspective is totally different from what the fans think. a statement like that just shows the mindset of a "single" individual, i hope one day fans will open their eyes and realize without them there be no diamonds, no fame. fans can reach out and break them anytime they want. everyone wants success but you got to be humble to stay successful or the good old everything comes to an end will be knocking upon one's door. However some crazy skills with making those jewelry. but that's one individual mind set however very well documented
