I'm on FMLA, 18 days every 6 months off.. 70% for PTSD. VA denied me as a secondary to PTSD because they said "Migraines dont have a common link to PTSD" 😂 I'm a combat vet who's been in over 200 combat missions as a turret gunner in Mosul Iraq. The VA is so corrupt.

Glad you found it helpful. Nexus letters are never required. The C&P examiner will provide a nexus link if they agree with the connection. They can also decline if they do not agree. Best of luck and thank you for watching

Hi Leah. Can you provide links to the studies you mentioned?
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I cannot but you should be able to find them by looking them up

The VA more likely will accept the opinion of a qualified third party. Veterans we have to do a better job at voicing our symptoms and getting them written in our medical records...cheers!
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
Totally. I agree and I often use secure messaging myself to communicate with my VA docs which can be a good way to have a written record

@misc4jb 0 seconds ago If you have the option of filing migraines as either a secondary claim to tinnitus or a presumptive claim (qualified under PACT presumptive) is there any advantage to doing one over the other? I am trying to get educated on this and am simply looking for the path of least resistance with the rater and C and P examiner.
@prestigeveteranmedical8 ай бұрын
Hey sir that is a great question. I do not personally believe migraines fall into the category of medically unexplainable illnesses related to PACT act issues.

would these studies be good for migraines secondary to major depression as well?

So if I file a claim for secondary migraines to my ptsd will they provide an exam? because I’m not diagnosed
@prestigeveteranmedical12 күн бұрын
I am not really sure sir. One of the requirements for disability is to have a current medical condition. It sounds like you are missing that.

Combat Douglas are you related to Combat Craig? Leah keep up the good work. Explaining the connections and the ratings are helpful! I got a zero percent for headaches because I didn’t have the prostrating ones.

Great videos! My question pertains to medication (headaches, PTSD, hypertension, etc.), if the medication helps and lowers the amount of attacks, brings down blood pressure, or is effective for whatever it’s prescribed for. How does that effect ratings as a C&P examiner?
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
If your migraines are under control with medications and you are no longer having prostrating attacks your rating will likely reflect this but you should def discuss the admin side of things with a legal professional like a VSO or an attorney for clarification. I hope this helps and thanks for watching

I claimed migraines a few years ago and somehow they denied my headache claim because they said it was "tension headaches not related to Gulf War syndrome." Totally confused because I have seen videos on KZbin that say that tension headaches are compensable. Filed a new claim a few days ago secondary to PTSD and TBI (for which I am 50% ) so we'll see what they say this time

My VA examiner told me or opined that PTSD doesn't cause headaches/migranes.

Literature supports the connection and there are many veterans service connected in this manner. Of course every case is different .

@Prestige Veteran Medical Consulting I read a BVA decision where a veteran was granted SC based on the following literature. The VA examiner opined that PTSD can significantly interfere with many aspects of a person's life, including work and relationships. This likely causes more stress, increasing the likelihood of headaches. The examiner stated, "PTSD can push one into any type of headache. People with PTSD are also more likely to have chronic daily headaches, especially people who have depression and PTSD." Can I use what this VA examiner stated in my appeal?
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
@@TexasMade903 I would not want to advise you on the appeals process as you will want to discuss that with a legal professional. Sorry about that!

@@TexasMade903 Yes. Examiners have differences in opinion all of the time. There is no such thing as precedence when it comes to these issues as each veterans case is unique.
