Ive removed as much of that ducting as poss from my room, buying 5 inch solid duct and a 90 degree bend, the best thing apart from improved airflow was the reduction in noise, i cant believe people with designated "rooms" actually use this ducting and not solid pipe and bends they are not even expensive

Kinks, bends, pinches, along with the spiral vent tube all contribute greatly to what is known as “shock loss” in underground mining ventilation technologist speak. I breathed the air underground for 42 years. Smooth solid tubing, minimal bends.

I’ve got a silencer attached to my fan. Not impressed with the air flow if I’m honest. I wonder if the silencer is having a negative affect due to it being much wider than the fan

i use a forced air system rather than pulling air from the system. pulling air allows dust, insects and pathogens like mold to be drawn into the grow. I use a filter box i built myself that uses an AC grille and a typical 20x20x1 air conditioner filter. the box in acoustically insulated with cloth interior. the box reduces noise about 60% and prevents mold, dust and insects from being drawn into the airstream and contaminating the grow. if you're using a filter simply place your filter on your outlet and force air into the enclosure and your escaping air will flow through the filter while at the same time giving you the protection of a forced air system. ive had great success with isolated environments controlling insects and mold because this system is preventative and works very well at keeping things you don't want outside your grow.

Great video. That’s an AC Infinity fan, correct? I just set one up in a 4x4 tent. My first indoor setup. My question: do you recommend setting the fan to auto mode, where the fan might shut off when optimal conditions are met, or do you recommend leaving it on 24/7 to control odor and air flow? Thanks
@ExploitTheVibe3693 жыл бұрын
I would do a calculation of the weight and potential energy of the card. ΔPEg = mgh for distance or lift of the card to angle of the lift. And calculate if the box is level and humidity, elevation and air pressure to determine those variables... I like your box way better than thinking about it even doing those calculations!
@atomizer26653 жыл бұрын
Make yourself a simple manometer using a length of clear aquarium air line. Measure the pressure in the duct (inches of water column) and you can figure out how much airflow you are getting from the fan curve/graph provided by the fan manufacturer. You can also use the manometer to check if alterations to the ductwork have made it better or worse. The fan`s maximum flow will be at 0" wc, which is when its not connected to a duct.

Good day Guys. I want to run my extraction fans hot air into tubes that will sit half a foot above my reservare floor. I want to utilize the warm air to agitate (oxygenate) the reservare. First of all it is recommended to use a RVK fan instead of an inline duct fan when using a carbon filter
@JohnWick-id6pk5 жыл бұрын
@Flora Nugs, No, he's not using a RVK fan which is designed for extraction of air. These don't have the same purpose. Like static pressure fans and airflow fans, you could use one as the other but performance won't be the same. @Andy Moore, First of all meaning, if you want to improve your grow room ventilation this is the first thing to do.
@JohnWick-id6pk5 жыл бұрын
@Andy Moore Well I was just stating the obvious, I thought it was common knowledge among growers (it is on french forums anyway) to use inline duct fans as intake and RVKs as extraction if using a carbon filter, like the thumbnail Shane put for this video, because inline duct fans don't produce enough pressure for the carbon filter suctioning and it results in the grow tent odor extraction and airflow won't be good enough even if rated as the same "flow rate" (like 300m³/h).
@manbunmyname58665 жыл бұрын
@@JohnWick-id6pk You're a prick, just stating the obvious.. it's common knowledge.

@Manbun Myname It makes me a prick to explain simple stuff to people who delete their messages after they have been confirmed wrong by what I said ? What is wrong with you ?
@JohnWick-id6pk4 жыл бұрын
@M P As I said, the design is made for intake or extracting air but not in this high air resistance setup (the carbon filter). Nor the performance or the longevity will be on par with an RVK fan which is purposely made for this scenario. Design in the inside (and outside as you mentioned) are absolutely not the same. Inline duct fans are made from typical fan blades whereas RVKs have centrifugal fans. This is why it is best suited for this task. Also, RVKs are not always metal, Systemair and Prima Klima models for example are mostly plastic and are not worse than their metal counterpart. Please don't be butt hurt if I criticize your setup

what did you tape on the box to measure the flow?(the little flappy bit)am sure that matters as if you was to use maybe a bit of paper then surly the flow would always be at 10 no matter how high or low you have it i only ask as i noticed it was thinner then the cardboard box itself :) and of course if you was to use something heavier then cardboard the reading would be lower.i am going to try this i just want to make sure i dont mess it up lol Great video btw :)
