@@MihaiDesigns no need it was to the point with no gimmicks. The content was not fluffed, each talking point lead to another. I wouldn't add more. Other videos add memes or effects and that can feel cheap. You even edited the video yourself. Did you know some just send they're raws to a video editor to produce. Taken all that into account it was a great video to watch. I can wait to see more.

Thanks! Yes, I watched the live stream :) I just got the hardware for prototyping my current project which is not a 3d printer mod. Then, the next one is an universal 3d printer accessory that helps with more than dual extrusion.

Hey Tony, how's life in Argentina? I used to have a couple colleagues from there. Thanks for the comment. The magnets are compressed with screws. A bit of an overkill, but is very reliable. Speaking of Instagram, I wonder if I should publish all my videos there as well, or if I should only publish the ones with more general audience, what do you think? And you're right, 3D design takes a lot of time. It's relatively easy to get the initial version out and many people stop there, and that will probably have a ton of problems. Print, next day find problems, iterate, print, next day learn about more problems, repeat many times. I'm sure a lot more could be improved if I was to do a second version with all I've learned from this project. But there are so many projects I want to work on... maybe I'll do a geared extruder design one day that is more compact. Wait, I've got Autumn and you've got Spring? Cool!

Great design! I'm really looking forward to you releasing the files. I have 2 Prusa MK3 printers still stock. I have the Bondtech upgrade but they are still in their box. Will your design accommodate the Bondtech upgrade?

You mean the geared BMG? That one is not supported but I might make a geared extruder version if there are enough requests. No support for older MK3 filament sensor though.

@@MihaiDesigns aw... :( I just looked at the video again, and it does only have the new sensor setup for MK3S. Well, this should still work on an MK3 but just not using the sensor, right? I often turn off the sensor anyway as I get frequent false triggers. And yes, its the geared BMG :)

On the PitStop webpage it says not comaptible with Bear upgrade, but in the video you have the bear frame. Perhaps I’m missing something here?

It's compatible with the Bear frame, just not with the Bear X-Axis (separate mod).

As someone who just had their stock extruder clog on wood filament 3 hours ago, I'm so, so looking forward to this. Will there be a non-nyloc for non-mmu users?

Hmm... I might have not used the right wording about that nut. It's for the idler door actually. Works as a lever with MMU and there's a lot of idler door movement with MMU. I guess you could just use a normal hex nut for non-mmu, but there is a small chance that you'll have to re-tighten it every new year or so.

For wood filament or any fibrous filaments I'd recommend you change your nozzle size to 0.5mm or above

I'm skeptical. I build a lot of Ericthepoolboy's 1/4 engine models and use magnets extensively in those builds. They are NOT that strong. They are great for holding lightweight parts together in a static environment, but something as heavy as that extruder, that's moving in 2 directions very quickly with sudden directional changes....I don't see how 3 sets of magnets would be enough. I think this is a great idea and is of huge benefit when it comes to general maintenance, but I dont think I'd feel safe with 10 sets of those magnets, let alone 3.

I get you. The magnets have a small responsibility there. The locking mechanism is more complex than it looks. On my printers the motors would come to a halt long before the extruder would open should it hit a warped print.

Thank you! I haven't used a MK2S so far. If it uses the same Pinda probe and IR sensor then there's a chance for this to fit, but I have no way of testing.

I REALLY love this thing! But one question: with only one fan, cooling extruder, hotend and the print, what will happen when i tell my slicer to print the first layers without cooling? That would not be a good idea, right? :(

I've ordered a drop in replacement geared motor which I will test when it arrives. No other geared solution is compatible I'm afraid :(

@@MihaiDesigns that's surprising. The pancake stepper is the same size as the normal one, except in depth (along the shaft length) and it is a little less powerful.

@@brianfoster7064 oh, I thought you meant a geared pancake. I guess it can be tried, just make sure it's rated at 1A at least (or adjust the firmware). For me there are more pressing issues than extruder weight so I didn't bother.

@@MihaiDesigns Mosquito is just the Hotend. The housing is still bad on the Prusa. I'm running Bondtech and Mosquito which is awesome! But I love your design with the magnets, super good for cleaning. I'm sure you can make a business out of this just like Bondtech did. They turn 2.4M USD each year in money. Swedish dude who started it from nothing. You can do the same. You design is unique and it will sell! Have the parts SLS printed and sell them. You'll help the community and you'll get rich!

@@MihaiDesigns perhaps not as they don't clog as much but they would make it easier to swap components. Though the mosquito is easier to swap nozzles than the current e3d extruder. Perhaps a chassis that can allow the swap of extruder whereas you can slip on a different extruder compartment? I'm just brainstorming.
