We don’t see many of those down here, not yet. We are still installing 80% furnaces. So, I appreciate the videos.

Done a bunch of replacements on the Carriers that had the poly coated secondaries, you could smell them when you walked up to them!

Never forget that smell, I was ould for a walk one night, and could smell it and was like yep some one has a carrier secondary goner.

@@publicmail2 At 17 yr in service it's often more sensible to upgrade the unit in the long run if the customer can do it. It's just like a car, drip feeding it money part over part for 25% more life doesn't make for a happy customer.

How did you miss the leaf on the disc in the intake

You should film the install of the replacement furnace.

You mention the unit was oversized for the home, Could it been short cycling leading to accelerated corrosion in the heat exchanger?

Right on. Good job. Hope you get it!

Darn autocorrect. Already fixed it but it was originally supposed to say "Hope you get it".

Every time I come up to one of those the first thing I do I pull the blower unless I know the heat exchangers have been replaced in the last 5 years. 90% of the time I find rust and holes.

Replaced the same furnace last thursday had limit switch going off and that funky smell coming out of the exhaust and top of the furnace was burning hot....!! My carbon readings were off the chart and the meter wouldnt even read higher so i figured the whole 2ndary was pretty much clogged up n told the home owner they needed a new furnace...!!

I'm curious why you didn't pull the blower instead of fighting with your endoscope through the cage? Seems like both would take the same amount of effort.

I didn't have time to do anything other than skim the video but...no CO analyzer test? We find plugged heat exchanger almost instantly with the analyzer test almost 100% of the time.
@MiHeatingGuy3 жыл бұрын
so if you just use a analyzer your going to miss stuff. what did you do before analyzers kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHy0nnyFZr6tebc
@cmc72563 жыл бұрын
@@MiHeatingGuy Well we do the classic tests (visual/touch/etc) as well of course. I was just interested in why you didn't do the analyzer. On those types of furnaces the analyzer finds them so quickly that the other more traditional tests are just to "double check" ourselves. Just old habits? Or do you find the analyzer misses them quite alot?

Combustion analyzer's are great but don't always find the issue. Furnaces can have a crack or plugged heat exchanger but if for whatever reason if they are getting complete combustion then it's tough for them to find. Just cause a furnace has an heat exchanger issue doesn't mean it will create high CO immediately. There are many ways to figure out a bad heat exchanger. Visual is always best .....

On that furnace a melting sight glass is a beginning sign. You already know! Ohm igniter out. Weak! Its still over because of the heat exchanger. Lol
