A month ago my daughter was saved from a ruptured fallopian tube by an emergency laparoscopic abortion that removed both the fetus and the fallopian tube. She was rushed into surgery with an excellent OBGYN surgeon within minutes of her arrival by ambulance at the closest hospital. (We live in Maine. Thank God it wasn’t one of Susan Collins’ precious Catholic hospitals where the maternity wards have been shut down, because abortion and contraception are part of maternity care). My daughter hemorrhaged 60% of her blood into her abdomen in terrible pain in the few hours before she got into surgery. Another hour more and she probably would have died, just like the mother of a young boy, Taysha Wilkerson-Sobieski, whose husband carried her, in agony, into an ER in Indiana with the exact same pregnancy emergency: burst fallopian tube and internal hemorrhaging. But Indiana’s abortion ban meant that she had to die. Same week. Same medical crisis. Different state. One received life-saving standard care. The other was shuffled between 3 hospitals without care until she died. Judicial femicide, courtesy of John Roberts and Donald ‘Child-Separation’ Trump. Had the Supreme Court ruled that yes, the federal law requiring emergency services at ERs receiving Medicaid funds does supersede a state abortion ban, that mother would have received the emergency surgery she, like my daughter, needed to survive. But they refused to rule. Punted the obvious down to a lower Court to drag the decision out for at least another year, and another life. So many women’s blood on their hands. So many motherless children. So many agonized hours, writhing, gasping in pain and desperation as a woman is allowed to die in agony in the for-profit hospital that refuses to save you. Don’t blame the doctors. It’s the corporations that own the surgical suite and recovery rooms that bear responsibility for abandoning women in the face of this political pogrom. Corporations and their Republican lackeys who murder women with impunity and dare to call themselves prolife are responsible. Women! Get out and march for Justice!

In principle, laws grant you rights that are derived from the Constitution but are not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution. Thirdly, federal law trumps state law, always does.

Talk to your grandmothers! PLEASE! We were alive when Roe became the law of the land. We rejoiced because we saw the damage done to out mothers, aunts, sisters and friends. The desperation that sends a woman to self induce or go to a back alley purveyor is devastating for everyone around her. Women regularly lost their lives and/or their fertility. If anyone is deluded enough to presume that a ban will stop abortions, they need only talk to an OB/GYN nurse or doctor from pre-Roe days. Their hospital wards were populated by women with serious complications far more than with those giving birth. If you really want to stop abortions then you must stop the reasons they are so desperate to not be pregnant.

Self-determination has been a hallmark of a free people and to have that revoked is a path to having more civil liberties taken away. Then we will cease to be able to call ourselves a free people. We already see where they are restricting our access to reading materials, restricting us from using any terms relating to gender, and telling parents certain decisions they think are best for their children are prohibited even though supported by the medical professionals. It won't stop with the restrictions they've already enacted, so when we've lost all our rights and freedoms, what are we left with but an authoritarian government that will tell us what to think, how we must act and feel, what information we can obtain and any breach of that will be prosecutable so that you aren't free to even live in your home in peace.

I watched Kamala's town hall last night. I wonder how that one undecided voter, the gentleman whose number one concern was right to life, would respond to the Potter syndrome story. You have to realize that all of this trump stuff is out of your control. All you can do is vote. If the media and the military and other politicians are so worried, they better have a plan because the only thing we can do is vote. Trump is going to try to overturn the results if he loses and his comrades will too. Democracy will only survive if the system is ready for it.

If ultrasound scanning had never been invented nobody would know about the health of the foetus. I do not believe that any woman .......in history would actively abort their child except to save their own life. These laws are cruel and hateful to women. Foxy Pagan love fae Scotland VVxx

There are multiple ways to bring abortion rights to the state level, including: Constitutional amendments State legislatures and citizen groups can propose ballot measures to amend state constitutions and enshrine the right to abortion. For example, in 2022, Michigan and Ohio voters passed constitutional measures to protect abortion rights. Laws States can pass laws to make abortion access easier, such as by eliminating waiting periods and gestational limits, or by allowing more types of providers to perform abortions. Protective laws States can enact protective laws, such as establishing buffer zones around buildings where patients receive health services. Repeal criminal laws States can repeal laws that could be used to prosecute people for self-managing an abortion or for supporting someone who does so. Educate health care professionals Medical associations, reproductive health advocates, and state governments can educate health care professionals that reporting individuals to law enforcement for suspected self-management of an abortion is not required by law. Some other things you can do to support abortion rights include: Research local and state organizations that support abortion rights Sign up for email updates from local advocacy organizations Attend meetings and rallies Speak up to friends, family, and community leaders about why abortion rights are important
