Rest in power mika..discovered your music after taking a break from rap music..and discovering the world of experimental techno and the avant-garde..upon hearing the first pan sonic album...my perception of beat making and sound as whole completely changed....Thank you for all that you have done for me and music in general..I just wish you and väisanen could have gave us one more pan sonic album..but you don't always get what you want

Sadly I must report that Mika Vainio died on April 13, 2017 at the age of 53. A posthumous eight-track album "Reat" was set for release on the 26 May 2017. Vainio formed Pan Sonic (originally known as Panasonic) with Ilpo Väisänen in Finland in 1993. Their full-length debut, Vakio, came out in 1995.
