bojo perez unreliable stat. Conley plays way more minutes than Mike James right? Conley’s per 36 are more reliable, since Mike James is a borderline bench player. And Conley is a borderline all-star. All per 36 does is project what there stats would be if they played 36 min a game. Some one grabbing 1 rebound in 1 minute a game would be projected to average 36 rebounds a game. That’s not gonna happen, like ever. So per 36 isn’t reliable.

When you look at top paid players, compared to the value of some of those ridiculous contracts (some are spot one), he isnt that overpaid really. Also i think he signed his contract when teams had that extra cap to spend. He is also arguably worth that much to the Grizzlies, thier owner doesnt want to win a championship, just fill the stadium because they KNOW they arent getting any big free agents

Yung Savage no doubt Lowry been off the shit but this is definitely the first time Lowry has been clear cut better than Conley and that’s really because Conley is coming off an injury and Lowry is extra motivated to win with Kwahi coming in. But I value players who are successful in the West more like Conley than players in the East like Lowry who’s only been an all star because the east is/was pretty thin at pg (it’s really him, Kemba, Wall and Kyrie)

Kimar Origami Lowry has been consistent for a few years now he’s been the main playmaker at Toronto and helped them get 45+ wins very often. IMO he was more important to them than Derozan as he runs the offence more, Conley probably should’ve taken one of Lowry’s all stars especially in 2016 but Lowry is overall better

In my opinion, the best player to never make an All Star game is Rod Strickland. It’s crazy you can average 18 and 10 assists but not make an all star game imo. Steve Nash won two MVPs with those kinds of numbers

Just to defend Nash's MVPs, the first one was because of how crazy of a turnaround the Suns had once he showed up. And the second MVP had the Suns win a crazy amount of games without Amar'e. Yeah Rod Strickland is definitely underrated, but his teams weren't championship contenders or had 50+ wins, that's why he never got recognition. Bernard King is an example of that too. This won't likely occur that often now because most star players aren't staying around on average teams anymore.

I don't think he was ever underrated, as in people thought he was worse than he actually was. He was drafted 4th overall, which means he was already highly valued coming out of OSU, and so expectations for him were never particularly low. More importantly, as the video explains, it just so happened that the West is so stacked with quality guards that Conley was always going to be outside looking in. I'd definitely say he was often overlooked, which helped make his huge contract look even more ridiculous. That said, that's the post-Decision NBA for you. All-NBA guys will take paycuts to play for specific teams, environments, and scenarios. Don't forget, in the great 2010 offseason when LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Stoudemire, etc. were all free agents, the man who walked away that summer with the biggest contract was Joe Johnson.

Mike Conley got paid. About $30.5M a year. That 5-year contract was insane for 2016. That's the organization's fault. They should have paid him up to $20M a year and pick up a few good role players, or another all-star equivalent.

In my opinion, Mike Conley is like the Deandre Hopkins of the NBA. He shuts up, doesn't complain off the court, does his job, and performs at an above average level. He deserves to be an all-star at least once, especially after that 2017 playoff performance. Such an under looked player who deserves to be on a well-rounded team.

Mike Conley is actually underrated and underperformed in the playoffs because early on he was still new and then later he was injured too much. It was bad timing. If Conley was never injury prone he would have at least had 2 or 3 all star appearances and more playoff wins.
