a good thing ab deltarune coming off of undertale, undertale was the KING of au's for the longest time, so deltarune's fandom takes stuff like this and blows it up because even if its not canon, itl just be an au with an original character ^^, the stuff deltarune sets up with dark fountains lends itself so easily to fans creating their own canon

The one concrete thing Toby has learned from this development cycle is that it might be better to just develop one chapter at a time so the fandom doesn't disintegrate itself trying to use all the brain power it can to conceptualize a character that probably will never exist. I've always thought the Mike theories mirrored things like the Dog animatronic in the FNAF community or the Mario community trying to conceptualize ways Luigi was going to be in SM64 (before the Gigaleak proved he was real). Just people making up these wild theories about a character that doesn't even exist in the content of the medium (either permanently or temporarily).

“I like bread” is a weird thing for a human person to say without being either actively asked ones preferences or discussing baked goods or carbohydrates in some way, so “Tad Strange is a humaboo” is a valid theory. Whatever he is is irrelevant to the plot of the show, however. Anyways Mike being Pizzapants makes sense- there’s a Purple Guy who might not even work there mentioned (probably the Barney-looking dude), and Pizzapants being a FNaF reference as well makes sense- he’s being catfished so it’s entirely possible that he used to open Spamton’s emails or whatever, until Pizzapants’ family changed their internet/cable provider, which lead to a change in email filters that blocked Spamton or something. If it was primarily due to something involving the cable package (or included streaming services) then blaming the “Cathode Crew” for his disappearance might make some sense? Though since the name is just “Cathode Crew” and not anything directly related to television, it could also be that something happened to his laptop’s battery or something
