If you have never been to a Mike Dowling workshop, you owe it to yourself. Mike is a very good and patient teacher. It was painful for me to realize for years "I was doing some things worn" but I needed to hear and see it. We all need to go outside of our comfort zones if we are ever to truly progress and learn new techniques.

I have to agree. Mike was one of the instructors at the Guitar Seminar Institute I attended in Seattle in 2001 (I think). Nicest guy you’ll ever meet....and zero ego, especially for someone as talented as he is.

@@guitarbluz62 I took lessons from Mike at Guitar Intensives at Bar Harbor, Maine. Your description of Mike took the words out of my mouth. I had just gotten his signature El Trovador at the time. He told my wife that people like me and himself were called " Trovanaters " He had a great sense of humor!

Great ideas. Each riff would be enough for a whole blues song!

Mike is one of the best musicians/vocalists/educators in the world today (he's a pretty damn good fly fisher too). From jazz and swing to bottleneck blues and beyond Mike can play in virtually any style or genre. He is as smooth as Les Paul, who he reminds me of. It is a privilege to both host him and have for him to consider me a friend.

I notice that on the el trovador that Mike is playing the nut looks like it is compensated. Is this standard or something that needs to be custom ordered? I am very interested in this model guitar as it is the only one I know of in your product line that has a 1.75 neck. My main use would be ragtime, often in standard tuning.
