Interesting question about the House vs NCAA settlement, which was $2.8billion. It sounds like a lot, but the consider the amount of money these schools and the NCAA have/made from college sports: 1) The NCAA Football and playoff contracts are nearly $9.0 billion; 2) the endowments at these schools are insane; Harvard alone has nearly $50billion; University of Texas has $43Billion; 3) each of the Top 50 college athletic programs generate over $100million each year; Right now, it's the wild west. If the NCAA and member schools really want to have a handle on portal transfers, NIL, and student athlete conduct, the only real way to manage that is to pay them and make them employees with a total package of scholarship, housing, food, and financial compensation. Once they are employees, you can control portal transfer rules, a merit pay system, student athlete conduct and decorum, etc., and essentially bring order back into college athletics.
