@leonardpearlman40176 ай бұрын
I've always wished there would be a sequel, not sure (!) what would happen in that. People often mention the story "The Marching Morons" in connection with this movie. In that story, the few smart people who run everything secretly (and they obviously exist here, what with the airplanes and other evidence of complex technical manufacture) decide to kill all the stupid people! They make a plan and do it. This doesn't come up as much as you would think. I think Joe would have to meet these people in a further adventure. They are obviously there! There is broadcasting, electricity, aircraft, shoulder-fired missiles, that hospital (it doesn't help Joe much, but if you had been stabbed or were having a baby there was a button to push, something would happen I guess)... Somewhere there are Engineers, Technicians, a professor or two and some kind of educational system. It might not be a secret, it might be something that nobody notices or cares about any more. It's hard to get people interested in books NOW!

It's a great, hilarious movie, but if you look around yourself, it's really not that hard to notice a downward spiral, and it wasn't different back then either. We've been getting dumber and lazier for a long time now. Like they said, the script actually missed some of the biggest, most significant changes in society, like social media and cancel culture. At its core it basically comes down to "dumb people breed, smart people don't", which is obviously true, but it's not a mind-blowing revelation.

Devo nailed it way before and way better than Idiocracy. I love Mike Judge -- he distributed a film of mine when no one was interested -- but he screwed up a wonderful idea. If you can't tell from this interview, he knows it sucks. He should have done a Mel Gibson and paid for it with his own money. As it was, the script wasn't ready, there wasn't enough pre-production, it kind of lurched into production, and he was always behind the corporate 8-ball. The idea was brilliant and deserved way more time and care. As it is, only idiots think Idiocracy is a good film. Life imitates art. As our culture gets dumber, the more it appreciates Idiocracy. It helps morons feel smart. Devo's vision of de-evolution was spot-on and never understood or appreciated by morons.

I ordered this movie from Amazon and while watching it I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or get angry. I spent 31+ years in American industry and wrote a book series about the decline and fall of the American work ethic. As a luxury vehicle modifier (conversion vans) and an assembly line worker (fire trucks) I worked with people who could not read on a high school level, could not read a simple tape measure, and honestly believed that 3/8ths was more than 3/4ths! Many times I was taken aside by crew leaders and supervisors and advised to “dumb down“ my language so that many of my coworkers could better understand me. During one production meeting when asked to share my thoughts I started off by saying “Well gentlemen , not to sound presumptuous -“ a coworker immediately cut in saying “There he goes again with them $100 dollar words!” Indeed many of my coworkers asked me “Why you gotta use them bigass words?!”

Low key one of the funniest and most interesting movies of the past several decades. All of Mike Judge's comedies he wrote and directed are gems - Office Space, Idiocracy and Extract. But the humor is somehow IDK too smart, too specific, to entertain your average Joe. Your average Joe just finds it weird and odd. But all those movies are smart, they're spot on and they're standing the test of time. You can watch Office Space even now, 20 plus years later, and it still works. And Idiocracy is just too underappreciated. That movie is actually turning out to be prophetic more and more with each passing decade. And it's thus a fun comedy, but it's also hilarious, poignant, unbelievable, sad and scary at the same time.

Whenever people around me are discussing scary movies and they ask what is the scariest movie any of us have ever seen, I always say "Idiocracy".

What's surprising is just how many people haven't seen it. I mean, it's pretty much become mainstream as a "cult classic" like Rocky Horror or Dungeons and Dragons (the game), but people just don't feel like it's worth watching. Instead, they stream reality shows about a bunch of disgusting sluts who work on a boat. But of course... the idiots make those big mediocre bucks. Imagine watching a moviue that's basically about how dumb you personally are. Would you watch that? I might, since I am personally aware of how dumb I am, but others aren't that aware and so to them it would be an insult. Never ever call a woman who had an abortion a baby killer. It's true, but since they are the Breeders of society, we have to pretend like it's not.

It is a funny movie but at the same time it is very scary when everyone around you is stupid that's the reason why third world Nations suck because the average IQ is severely low so there's a bunch of dumb people doing dumb things Stupid people are more dangerous for everyone involved than evil people because evil people are just pursuing their own Ambitions and goals

🤣🤣🤣🤣 A couple of years ago I was floored to learn my wife hadn't seen the movie. I was trying to explain to her that it's truly perfection.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 She watched it finally and literally pissed her pants laughing and was crying through most of the movie. It really does hold up. Mike's vision is incredible. To be made on 2004 is just amazing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@DavidJohnson-hg1mz unless you mean a bucket that has a capacity of 2 gallons that would be 5 buckets, or a 7 gallon bucket capacity, in total 9 gallons one would be 2/7 and the other would be 7 gallons
